Housing the Homeless (Rough Draft)
Homelessness around the world has risen. An abundance of men, women, and even children are homeless and sleeping on the streets. Citizens often feel sorry for these people and want to help them out and put them into a community shelter so they can be safe but couldn’t because of the lack of shelters nearby. Let’s say that you went to work one day to find that the company you are working for is shutting down. You lost your job and you are losing money and is forced to sell your home. You and your family are living in an alleyway and is salvaging any food and money you can from strangers. You then heard about a community shelter but it is seven miles away from your location. You want your family to go there and be safe but it is such a long walk. This is why cities around the world should open more community shelters. This will help the homeless feel safe and secure that they won’t have to struggle with the weather conditions, lack of food or money, and the insecurity of living alone on the streets.
Homelessness around the world is growing, especially in the United States. Drugs, alcohol, and lack of jobs are the main causes of homelessness. Community shelters are nearby to help house the homeless but since the number of homelessness is increasing, the amount of space in them are limited. Increasing the amount of shelters has its pros and cons though. Building more shelters mean that the owner of the shelters must pay taxes for the building to stay in business, but luckily, most community shelters are funded by the city or county. This means that the shelters don’t need to pay taxes because the city is already paying for it.

A homeless person that lives with home owners that smokes will be evicted from the home into another. Some people disagree in Hawaii due to the fact of the health and statehood the homeless is in. The home owners that are taking care of these less fortunate citizens may not have experience the pain and hardship they have been so there might be conflicts in the homes that can cause injuries to the home owner, homeless, or both of them.
This ethical issue is slowly growing each year and it needs to be stopped. I propose a solution where cities should open more community shelters but out of the way of the populated area then there won’t be a lot of conflict and can help businesses bloom but is still in a convenient destination for the homeless to get to.
