Jealousy and Deception in Shakespeare's Othello

In Othello Shakespeare wrote about jealousy with an tragic ending that lead to Desdemona's death. Desdemona is a sweet Venetian Lady who has fallen in love with “The Moor”, Othello. Iago played games with othello's head to make him believe that his wife, Desdemona. Iago was responsible for Desdemona's death at the end of this novel. Although , Othello murdered her , Iago had led this to happen by causing Othello to be crazy jealous of the lie that iago placed into his head that she is cheating on him with Cassio his lieutenant. Iago has planned out a way to get Cassio away from lieutenant by making Othello believe that he is having an affair with his wife Desdemona. Cassio has no idea where it came from but decides to use it anyways. Iago has told Othello that he has seen Cassio with hit, using it to wipe his sweat.” I know not that; but such a handkerchief- I am sure it was your wife's- did i today see Cassio wipe his beard.” (Act 3, Scene 3, 496-499). By doing this it makes Othello very jealous and angry because that was the first thing he gave to his wife as a sign of his love and dedication toward her. Iago needs to complete this with a lie that makes him even more upset. Iago tells Othello “...Cassio in sleep I heard him say ‘sweet Desdemona, Let us hide away our loves.” (Act 3, Scene 3, 474-476) . Iago is telling Othello lies that he believes because he thinks that Iago is “honest”. Othello is getting angrier and angrier , he is getting jealous and upset at his beloved wife that he fears his marriage will be ruined because he believes what Iago is telling him. I feel as if Iago is pushing this a little far because of how much he is pushing Othello over the limits.Jealous can be a strong and powerful feeling, especially when it's with someone you love so dearly.
Iago has caused so much anger and jealousy in Othello's head. All the lies and manipulations he places in people's heads. Iago is responsible for Desdemona's death because of all of the things he has done to manipulate people to get what he wanted.Understanding that Othello went overboard and actually killed her physically he wasn't meaning to. His head was were Iago wanted it to be. There are many questions that cannot be answered about this situation but while all of this was planned iago didn't care about anyone else but himself and what he can benefit from
