Cause And Effect Essay On 9/11

September 11, 2001 is known as the worst terrorist attack in United States history. On a clear Tuesday morning, there were four planes that were hijacked and flown into multiple buildings by a terrorist group named al Qaeda. This group, led by Osama bin Laden, killed nearly 3,000 people. Out of those 3,000 people more than 400 police and 343 firefighters were killed along with 10,000 people who were treated for severe injuries. Many lives were taken, and to this day, people still suffer from the attack. September 11th is the most influential event of the early twenty-first century because it made an increase in patriotism, it caused a rise in security throughout the nation, and it had a tremendous effect of thousands of lives.
On the first day after the Twin Towers fell, when the skies were silent and the country cried, a sense of patriotism was greatly increased and appreciated. Many people came from several different countries, with many different skills, but everyone who came all had one

mission. Everyone in America all felt the same and everyone was willing to help one another. There are three different kinds of patriotism. The definition of patriotism alone is the devotion to one's nation, the general increase in our sense of community, and the specific deeds of those who took action to help others in need. Another kind of patriotism, blind patriotism, is an immovable attachment to one’s country. It is characterized by absolute positive evaluation, loyal devotion, and prejudice to criticism. Lastly, constructive patriotism requires you to think more deeply about the world around you, it requires citizens to think critically about what America is and then react quickly. Since the 9/11 attack these three types of patriotism are widely used and greatly appreciated. Before the 9/11 attack patriotism was not necessarily decreased, but Americans have definitely united.
For a person who has ever been to an airport they know what it is like trying to get through security to board an airplane. The rise in security after the 9/11 attack has changed tremendously. Although some people may view the security process as a hassle, the rules and regulations are there to protect people by preventing things like terrorist attacks. It is said that the security before 9/11 was obviously not as thorough, but the employees working there were not as trained as they should have been. People running security at an airport are supposed to be capable of spotting strange activities and threats. Before 9/11 there were a number of things that did not need to be done that people must do today. Things like not having to remove your shoes, or not having to worry about your stuff getting stolen while it s all spread out during security. Security today can have you in an airport for hours. The steps before boarding a plane consist of things like enhanced pat-downs, specific ID required, all outerwear, such as jackets, must be removed, shoes must be removed, you may not have liquids above 3.4 ounces, carry on must be screened, and you have to go through a body scan machine screening. The thought of terrorism and attacks terrifies people. With this rise in security people can feel more invulnerable and protected.

These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.” George Bush was president at the time when the 9/11 attack happened. George Bush wrote this quote for the thousands of lives that were hugely affected. To the kids worried about their parents while they are in school, to the worried husbands and wives, and brothers and sisters. The 9/11 attack did not only change the lives of people who lost a loved one, and the people who were there where the planes hit, but also people who just saw what was happening and people who heard about it, cried. The increase and patriotism and the rise in security will make people feel more secure and protected but it will never change the the amount of people affected by 9/11. Millions of people around the world know about what happened on September 11th, 2001. Millions of people will be changed
