How come so many students sleep during class time? Of course because they wake up early in the morning and probably sleep late at night. Many students suggest of having later school hours so they can have more sleep and rest, but do they think about what affects can starting school later can cause? Starting school at a later time is not a perfect idea because many teens will have to start and leave work at a later time and students will lose class time due to early dismissal. First and foremost, going to school later than usual will lead to teens going to work later in the day and getting off work somewhere near at night. The hours will be pushed back more which can lead to the teens to going to bed late. For example, if school lets out at 3:00, teenagers will head to work in between 3:00-4:00pm and will get off later than they normally do. Once they get home, they will not have enough time to do any homework or projects and will be forced to either cut off hours on their shift or not do their homework since they need to eat and/or take a shower. Students will have enough sleep which means that they will not be as sleepy in class as they were before causing them to learn more than before. For instance, students will have more attention on the teacher and will learn more than before when school started early. The students will have higher grades in school and will have a positive look on their academic skills and possibilities on passing. When in the course of human events, students should be entering school a little bit later than the usual. This will give the student more sleep time which then will allow the student to think better when in school. This will also help a student be fully awake and not be sleeping in class. Students will pay more attention and will be ready to learn. Waking up early and going to school early makes a student be sleepy in class. We the students should be getting a later start in school.
This leaves students with less than the recommended 9 hours of sleep. Students that have to stay up that late for homework will be tired in the morning, even if their school starts later. Many people argue that starting schools later will let students get more sleep and align with the students sleep cycles. But they do not factor in that students will just stay up later at night because they know that they do not have to get up as early in the morning.
