In the novel The Assassin Games By Kirsty McKay. The main character Cate wants to be in the group called the Assassins Guild. Which is a group where they play a game like mafia. However before she could get accepted she had to be challenged by the recurring members. Let’s just say she didn’t have the most pleasant thing to do. It involved Cow Poo and hands tied together. She ended up succeeding in the task and got put into the group. Soon enough the game started the killer has been selected and people were frantic and “horrified” trying not to get “killed.”The game seemed pretty calm overall when all of the sudden it started to become more realistic. People were trying to not actually get attacked by this mystery person. People after people …show more content…
She would be considered a tragic hero because she has a task and she has a set back. During the whole story Cate’s main task was to stay alive during the Assassin Guild game. Overall she strived over other members and got to the end. Her strategy was to hide and stay low-key because she knew the killer was going to come for her soon enough. With Daniel, Vaughan and Marica possibly being the killer she tried to stay away from everyone. She even said for herself “ I spent Sunday hiding. Hiding from the killer, hiding from Daniel, hiding from Vaughan and questions about Vaughan that inevitable will come my way from Marcia and Alex.” ( 67 ) This proves that her other task was to not stay close to anyone because they could be a compulsive liar who was actually the killer the whole time. Later on throughout the book she found that Vaughan, and Marcia were not the killer. The person she ultimately thought it was Daniel but it wasn’t. She found out who the real killer was when Vaughan was attacked during the night. During the panic to find him, she finally found him chained to a rock on the lake. Then he started to explain to her who the killer was his explanation was that “It wasn’t Daniel that hit me over the head, and it wasn’t Daniel who was Skulk, and it wasn’t Daniel who tried to kill Emily and Rick.” (306) After this point they find out who the killer is and from this you can tell the Cate guessed wrong. Which put her …show more content…
I would describe Vaughan and Cate to lovers but there is one thing in there way. That one thing is the Assassin Guild. Out of nowhere Vaughan came to Umfraville Hall where he met his old friend. But Cate doesn’t recognize him at first, she thinks it’s a random guy speaking to her. It ends up being that he was a old friend at school when they were 8. Cate realized and said “ Vaughan? His name comes out as a gasp; it almost feels forbidden. I haven’t said that name in such a long time.”(36) Throughout his time of just getting to the school, he ended up getting into the Guild. Which means that they could have more time to catch up with each other. When they end up keep hanging out with each other they start to like one another. But the bad thing between them is the games. Cate had been stressed about the games and she couldn’t even talk to Vaughan. She stayed in her room all day and avoided human contact. After Cate not trying to bump into each other. She had to trust Vaughan and know that he actually was not going to kill her. An example to show after they overcame this struggle was when Cate woke up in the cave and he wasn’t there. Her thoughts in this were “ “ ( ) She was extremely worried that Vaughan could be dead right now. Everyone told them that he was probably killed by the killer. But Cate ended up finding him. She was scared and frightened for him which shows that they care about each other
my view is a hero because she took everything that was imposed on her and
and she made sure people knew it. But was this merely a mask to cover a cowardly
Quite often in life we wish for things bigger than ourselves. Seeming to get wrapped up in our own minds we do not pay attention to reality. As reality comes full force we are not sure how to take it, so we let it take us. In the writing “Where are you going, where have you been?” we see Oates craft archetypes and allegories into the work through detail and word choice in order to help the reader understand the shocking outdistancing of day dreams and the overshadowing sockdolager called reality. These archetypes and allegories provide a way for the reader to join Connie in the story, but also to see the danger of what Connie doesn’t see.
...rson and he knows that she will take care of the little guy even if the Guy is not around. A distort desire to be free of the situation drive the whole family into tragedy and leave them grieves
An archetype in literature is defined as a typical example of a certain type of person. A character in a poem or play can be placed into many different archetype categories. Archetypes help a reader to gain a better understanding of who a character in the work is on the inside. This deeper insight into the character allows the reader to follow the flow of the story easier and more effectively. There are many different archetypes that can help to advance the story. One of the most useful in advancing this story is the typical powerful character. Whether it be supernatural or cunningness this character always comes out on top in the situation and holds the most control over others and their actions. “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?”,
"Antigone" would be considered a hero in the sense of being a martyr. Because of her love for her family Antigone wanted to give her brother a proper burial, and even though he did evil deeds, she respected him. She believed that all of the dead were in a state of equality. When faced with the decision to obey the King or obey her heart, she says on page 23, in lines 86-90:
Psychologist Carl Jung proposed that humankind has a collective unconscious, which is manifested in myths and dreams, which harbors themes and images that all humans inherit. Carl Jung’s proposal about the collective unconscious is expressed when archetypal and mythological criticism applies to literary works (Archetypal Criticism). Neverwhere is a novel written by Neil Gaiman, which is heavily influenced by archetypal and mythological concepts. Neverwhere is the story of a young man who tries to help an injured girl named Door on the street, when he soon realizes that this is no ordinary person that he has come across and he has to go into the underworld to get her help. Richard goes to get her help from a man in the underworld named Marquis
The next post is where the book takes a turn. The post reveals all the secrets of the four accused high schoolers. This presents them all with a motive. From the death of Isabel to taking scuba lessons for when they go to St. Maarten, the siblings have put each other through some much in the past couple months and it has changed their relationship dramatically. “I can’t believe I’ve turned out to be such a shitty person,” he says (27). Sage has finally admitted how he has been treating everyone since the accident. He also said that he was a terrible boyfriend to Isabel because he always got her mad and in the way it was handled. Maddy had then told Sage that Isabel loved him which made him feel as if he could be happy once again. Having Maddy say something like that to Sage also showed how she has started to open up more to Sage and tell him more things that she would comfortable to say to him. Before long, the two were getting into the pool for their last lesson at the Y before they go on their trip. Maddy felt more comfortable this time because she had finally got flippers that made her feel satisfied when she went under water. As Sage moved closer to Maddy, he could feel how nervous she was just by looking over the edge of the pool. “Quit thinking about last time... It's going to be different,” he says (28). Sage telling Maddy, it’s going to be different, shows how she shouldn’t worry like last time they were at their lesson when she started to
Lastly she committed an illegitimate opportunity by becoming a hitman. She played as a criminal who was paid to take out some dudes wife and when the dude didn’t want to pay she ended killing him. So it was pretty clear she meant to be the bad girl whom committed crimes for money. I also inferred that somewhere along the line her fictional character life a way to success was blocked so she turned to
He then moved his car and changed his clothes and returned to kill her completely and he found that she moved to the back of her building. Later when the killer was captured he confessed to killing kitty and another girl. People said that there were three attacks when really there was only two. Where her death hit the hardest is with the ones who were closest to her. Her brother joined the Marines and when he went to war he kept thinking of his
Whenever I play a role-playing video game, my favorite part is the initial character creation. I really enjoy being able to completely customize the appearance of a character. As shown in Illustration 1, some character creation can get quite detailed. However, there is much more to creating a character than just its appearance. Characters are a very important part of any story and must be properly developed.
A while later, Detective Strode questions Cleo and takes her to the police headquarters to take place in a lineup by the witness.
