Catarina Valentine is one of the main characters in the Nickelodeon sitcom Victorious. She is sweet, naive, bubbly and happy, often unsuspecting of what is really going on around her. She has a playful nature, and has a very short attention span so she can easily be distracted with colorful items. She can be somewhat of a drama queen, and doesn't take criticism very well. Cat is also an extremely talented singer with a high vocal range. Cat Valentine is a red velvet-haired cutesy woman-child who wandered around in her own world apart from the one that the rest of the cast existed in. Cat was a hilarious breath of fresh air, the one character on the show who was always hilarious even without the laugh track, and I had a hard time narrowing
down the many, many moments that she proved it. Cat has a lot of weird dreams, and has even weirder stories about the kinds of things that her mysterious brother likes to do with his time. In that way, Cat was the most hilarious character on the show. As well as the weirdest. But also the happiest, thanks to her habit of living in her own world. What I love about Cat is that she is her own person which inspired me to be myself. She does whatever she wants, she could awkwardly dance in life while still being able to bust a move on stage during an actual performance. But the main reason why I love Cat is because she was portrayed by Ariana Grande.
Mattie makes dinner for Ethan and wants to make the table look “pretty” so she decides to use Zeena’s pickle dish. While Ethan is eating Mattie is in the kitchen talking to Ethan. They hear the cat meow and look over to see the cat in Zeena’s rocking chair. They continue talking and right before they had an “intimate” moment the cat jumps up on the
Initially, because she underestimates her own courage, which has never been properly tested, Dana doubts that she has sufficient fortitude to survive in the nineteenth century. As Kindred unfolds, it becomes clear that she does, indeed, have abundant courage and stamina. Butler effectively utilizes a common technique in fiction whereby an individual becomes heroic by transcending his or her base humanity by drawing on hidden inner resources. Dana is tested in her second trip to the past when she is nearly raped by a white man who is part of a patrol—the forerunner to the Ku Klux Klan. Never before having experienced physical abuse, initially Dana is reluctant to act. She fails to disable him by gouging his eyes, thereby losing her only chance
In the novel, My Antonia, by Willa Cather, society seems to govern the lives of many people. But for the others, who see past society's stereotypical values, had enough strength to overcome this and allowed them to achieve their dreams. Throughout the book, everyone seems to be trying to pursue the American Dream. While they all have different ideas of just exactly what the American Dream is, they all know precisely what they want. For some, the American Dream sounds so enticing that they have traveled across the world to achieve their goal.
The characters in Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” are distinguished from each other through their names and actions. Every character in this story is given a name and none are left unnamed. All the characters brought up in this story are spoken about specifically considering their behavior. Mr. Summers is in charge of the Lottery, and other characters stand off from the action of the lottery, or they only help based upon necessity, not desire. Some other towns have been speaking about quitting the lottery; Old Man Warner speaks passionately against it. The central character of the story is Tessie Hutchinson. Not only is she late to the lottery, the other villagers make a big deal about this and move away from her as she goes to look for
Do you always stand up for what you believe in? Minerva and all of the Mirabal sisters
Comedy and tragedy would not seem to mix well, as they have opposite conclusions of happiness or sadness. To have comic and tragic plots within one play, then, can be argued as being too distinct to be coherent. In The Insatiate Countess, however, it is the differences between the tragic plot of the countess, Isabella, and the comic plot of Abigail and Thais, that strengthen the play’s message supporting loyalty in friendship.
Over five hundred years ago, during the year 1407, France was governed by a manic king, Charles VI, and was torn to pieces by two factions: the Party of Burgundy, which was led by the Duke of Bedford, and the party of Armagnac. The Armagnacs supported the French model of government and the Dauphin, the rightful monarch of France, and the son of Charles VI. The Burgundians, meanwhile, were all for the English administrative methods. The two factions eventually divided town from town and village from village, while foreign English troops simultaneously took advantage of these disputes, and overran the land. For the next twenty-two years, the entire French nation was divided, and enveloped in great sorrow. Little did the wretched inhabitants of France suspect that God had appointed Jeanne d'Arc, a modest, devout girl from the southern town of Domremy, to redeem the country.
Someone once said, "Don't judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat." Many characters in "The Outsiders", by Susan Eloise Hinton, portray that quote. However, one character who thoroughly depicts the quote is Darry Curtis. In the book, on page 6, Darry Curtis is described as "six-feet-two, and broad-shouldered and muscular. He has dark-brown hair.... He's got eyes that are like two pieces of pale blue-green ice." This is a stereotypical Greaser look, and Darry may look like a Greaser to random passerby. However, looks can be deluding. As the book progresses, it is portrayed that Darry Curtis is not a stereotypical Greaser, after all. It is often thought that Greasers steal money for a living.
Cat began dressing punk, and hanging out with punk kids. She began obsessing over courtney love, fashion, and Anna Wintour. She made art projects and shrines to courtney love.

In the story “ The Possibility of Evil” by Shirley Jackson Miss Strangeworth is not evil. The Elderly lady just wants to keep her family’s town in place , and make sure that it doesn’t turn bad. Miss Strangeworth also wants to keep her family inherited roses in her town. in fact, the author explains that her family had “built this town”(Jackson 188). Miss Strangeworth feels like the town belongs to her grandfather since he built the first house on pleasant street. Miss Strangeworth has watched her city grow up. She can explain almost anything that happened in the town, so she must have grown really close with her roots. You can see why she may get upset and mad from somebody messing around. Another important part of the story is when the author
“You know somethin’, Gloria? This sweet ole cat and me has been together for fifteen years. We’ve lasted longer than most marriages,” (“Everybody Loves Opal”).
In the short story “The Possibility Of Evil” Shirley Jackson uses several symbols to tell her story about Miss Strangeworth. One symbol she uses is the letters that she writes to different people. Letters are suppose to be good, but she uses them for evil. She uses the letters to criticize people and make them feel bad. She walks in the night and mails it to them so they don’t notice that she is the one causing the problems. Another symbol she uses are the roses. She would use the roses so people would think that she is a nice old lady. People around the neighborhood thought that she was a good old lady. The roses meant everything to her, and she tourists would stop and enjoy them. It bothered her that people want to
In today’s society, women have overcome many hardships to become able to vote, able to run for public office, and even able to hold high business positions. Some people believe that such accomplishments are because of literary examples that have, over the years, lead women to believe in themselves, motivate them-selves, and stand up for themselves. In Aeschylus’ infamous Greek tragedy, The Oresteia, Clytaemestra, the leading woman, overcomes the Greek society’s slighting attitude towards women, grasping the most powerful position attain-able in Argos. Even after gaining power, Clytaemestra clutches this leadership desperately, unrelenting in her hopes to keep it forever. Although Clytaemestra uses intellect, inner strength, and self-motivation to capture power, she does it evasively and by hurting others. Therefore, Clytaemestra is not a respectable woman role model.
