Cat Marnell is a dysfunctional drug addict. Every chance she got to become a better person, she threw it away. Why would she do that, what drove her to ruin her life? Cat Marnell was born in washington dc to a psychiatrist, and a physcotherapist. Her Father was verbally abusive, and her mother was an emotionally void trainwreck. Her older sister emily began talking back, and was sent away to a therapy boarding school. Cat says that her sister became robotic and weird from the letters emily wrote home. Wither sister gone, her dad became more angry and aggressive. Cat began dressing punk, and hanging out with punk kids. She began obsessing over courtney love, fashion, and Anna Wintour. She made art projects and shrines to courtney love.

Everyone’s lives are affected by the decisions they have made and past experiences they have had. In the novel A River Runs Through It, author Norman Maclean uses the theme of experiences to portray the difficulties a person can face throughout life. Although Norman and Paul are brothers and bond through fly fishing, they are two different people who have different life paths. Norman chose to get a stable job and live a domestic life, whereas Paul chose to become a bachelor and a lower class reporter. The main character is Norman himself, and he also experiences the difficulties his troubled brother Paul is faced with. Unlike his brother, Paul has chosen a different route in life, and he has an addiction problem. Her mind is crying out for help; searching all over for a distraction. “You don’t have to do this!” Ignoring the fact she is one of the best soul singers alive, she finds herself sitting in her dressing room, ready to shoot up. In the story The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator should have held his ear or turned the other direction when coming into contact with the black cat. The story took a wicked twist when the narrator’s addiction made him do the unthinkable, and his life was changed for the worst. The Black Cat had many symbols that were used in it and which can interpret different understandings of the story being told. The black cat also known as Pluto can be symbolized to be an omen of his addiction occurring to happen. The fire after the killing of Pluto can be symbolized as him going to burning in hell for his sins. The new cat appearing can be a symbol for forgiveness and new beginnings. Last but not least the finding of his wife’s body can be symbolized to seeking help for his addiction. The story is built upon symbols and without these symbols the story wouldn’t have the meaning of Edgar Allan Poe’s confession of addiction.
