To what extent will a rise in tourist numbers have a positive effect on the Castleton area’
Castleton is a small village located in the western end of Hope Valley, in the Derbyshire Peak District National Park. Three sides of Castleton are surrounded by steep hills such as Mam Tor which is two miles from the north west of the village. Castleton was named after Peveril Castle, which overlooks the village, and has origins dating back to the Norman times. The village was once surrounded by a moat, but it has dried up now. Castleton is a honeypot village. This means that it is a tourist destination and is likely to draw in visitors from surrounding areas. There are many reasons why Castleton has become a honeypot. Three are many hills surrounding Castleton which are a great place for walkers and hikers. Furthermore, there are four underground show caves in Castleton which allow tourists to learn more about how the minerals and

materials used in products sold in Castleton are mined. These four caves are Blue John Cavern, Speedwell Cavern, Treak Cliff Cavern and Peak Cavern. Due to all these spots which are frequently visited by tourists, the village of Castleton itself has developed into a honeypot, attracting tourists to it like bees are attracted to honey. There are many positive effects if tourism increased in Castleton. An increase in tourism will increase the profit earnt from the many services in Castleton. As shown in the pie chart below, 32% of the services in Castleton are accommodated to tourists. These services include tourist shops which sell souvenirs as well as jewellery made from Blue John which is mined from the mines, hotels, Bed and Breakfasts and Guest Houses which accommodate tourists if they are staying for longer than one day and camping and caravan sites which allow tourists to stay closer to the hills. Moreover, there is a visitor’s centre which houses a museum as well a tourist information centre. The Castleton Information Centre provides services such as accommodation and local theatre bookings, brochures, latest information on attractions, events and the Peak District National Park and information on the sites to see and shops to visit in and around Castleton. Tourists who visit the centre will be more likely to buy things from the village and allow the residents to earn a larger profit. However, there is a downside to this. If the number of tourists increases, the small village will be crowded and there will be a lot of damage down to the area. The footpaths will eventually wear away from the excessive use and become dangerous to use. If this happens, tourist may decide to trespass through vegetation, therefore destroying the vegetation and causing conflicts between the owners of the land and themselves. The owners may fence up their land ergo destroying the beauty of the plain unfenced hills. If there is an increase in tourists, there will also be an increase in vandalism and litter, causing a lot of pollution and destruction to the environment. If the area is heavily littered and vandalised, it will turn away potential visitors and cause a huge loss to the residents of Castleton. On the other hand, an increase of visitors would inevitably trigger further development in Castleton which will in turn increase the profit that the residents earn.
With further development of modern buildings, Castleton may evolve into a town or even one of the most visited tourist spots in the UK. The village already has the potential to be evolved further; it merely needs to become more popular. If the village is evolved, larger caravan and camping sites could be built to increase the number of tourists. In addition, more residential buildings could be built so that there would be more residents to run the local businesses. If these succeed, a secondary school could be constructed so that locals will not have to travel as far to get their education. Also, developing the area would increase the wealth of the land. The village could also be made more accessible by building wider roads for transport. By developing Castleton, a large fortune could be made from all of the natural resources and historical value of the village and surrounding
areas. Nevertheless, an increase in torisim would mean that there would be an increase in pollution created from transport. Tourists are most likely to come in cars or coaches which block up the narrow roads and spread pollution into the countryside, therefore causing the natural beauty of Castleton to be destroyed. This traffic is also a safety hazard for both the residents and the tourists. The corner of the road in front of the primary school tends to get congested and puts the school children at risk.
The number visiting has increased with the completion of the new A55 Expressway, which reduced the travelling time from Liverpool to Betws-y-Coed to less than one hour, thus meaning an increase in day visitors who are looking for a tranquil break from their bustling urban lives. The A55 Express... ... middle of paper ... ... -y-Coed To determine visitor opinion on the drawbacks of tourism in Betws-y-Coed, and also how successful the honeypot is at controlling tourism. I asked five visitors the following two questions, "What problems do you feel tourism brings to the area?"

Impacts of Tourism in Swanage Tourism has the potential to create impacts on the environment and communities that it relies on to accommodate visitors. Its impacts are mitigated by the long history of tourism activity. Communities have become used to tourism activity, and management measures to limit some areas of environmental damage have been implemented. Nevertheless, some impacts are far ranging, and they are set out below: * Inappropriate Development An increase in visitors can lead to pressure for new developments to serve and capitilise on their needs, eg. Caravan parks, visitor centres, cafes, signs, car parks, and additional accommodation.
The Newham Company is a publicly traded company that recently has had a change in executive management due to an inappropriate bonus structure based on company performance. As this type of bonus structure often leads to material misstatement of facts resulting in falsified financial reports, the new management at Newham has commissioned SNHU INC. to conduct an audit which assesses their risk of misstatement. The audit to follow will be broken down into three parts: Overall business risk, sample audit plan and a report of recommendations based audit results.
In today’s society, American citizens tend to believe that America has been, “American” since the day that Christopher Columbus set foot in the Bahamas. This is a myth that has been in our society for a multitude of years now. In A New England Town by Kenneth A. Lockridge, he proves that America was not always democratic. Additionally, he proves that America has not always been “American”, by presenting the town of Dedham in 1635. Lockridge presents this town through the course of over one hundred years, in that time many changes happened as it made its way to a type of democracy.
The story pertaining to this castle I first heard in a coffee house on Capitol Hill, in Seattle, Washington. Capitol Hill is known for being the stomping grounds of a wide variety of people. There are bohemians, hippies, homeless people, drag queens, and lots of college students due to the fact that there are five colleges in the city of Seattle alone. It is also not so full of tourists, who spend more of their time at Pikes Place Market (also said to be haunted) and the Center. I spoke to the storyteller around two in the afternoon on Friday, March 23rd during my spring break. She works at a local hospital and is finishing up medical school. She is recently married, twenty-four years old, and she grew up in West Seattle. Her mom is Ukrainian and is the principal of an elementary school.
Lansdowne Road, located at West 43rd street 10th Ave, brings people together in a popular neighborhood, Hell’s Kitchen, located at the west side of Manhattan. Pat Hughes, owner of Lansdowne Road, and his partners Mike Pew and Dan McLaughlin established Lansdowne Road, an Irish bar, with their savings and loans from the bank in the mid-2000s. Lansdowne Road has 18 employees and has an income of $826,000 USD per year. Lansdowne Road’s income positions Lansdowne to accommodate each employee, due to Governor Cuomo’s executive budget plan. Moreover, businesses with a sales volume of more than $500,000 USD per year, are expected to apply the new minimum wage of $15 an hour by 2018.

The facts of this case are presented very clearly. Ashton Kutcher, owner of Ashton Acres, and Byrd Busch, owner of Bud Liteacres, have adjoining 100 acre farms. Separating the two was a barbwire fence. In addition, a large swamp encompassed part of both acreages (10 acres of Ashton Acres and 50 acres of Bud Liteacres). The two owners met over coffee where Busch orally proposed a trade of 25 acres for the draining of the swamp and a payment of $50,000 ($5,000 up front and $45,000 upon completion). The two owners shook hands on the deal and proceed to mark the 25 acres Ashton would receive upon completion. Ashton then paid Busch $5,000 as a down payment and began working on the swamp. Over a 30 day period, Ashton successfully completes the work using his own materials and labor and prepares a $45,000 payment for Busch. However, when Ashton arrives to present the check to Busch, Busch is not home. Instead he left a note saying the deal was off, as there was no contract between the two, and the barbwire fence needed to be returned to its original position between the farms.
"The castle today is a ruin, it is therefore of very little use to any
Danville was the first in Contra Costa County to have a neighborhood traffic management program (NTMP) to address neighborhood traffic issues. Due to the fact, that the main town has narrow streets, lined with boutiques, restaurants, and cafes, there is a huge influx of pedestrians, thus, the importance for education and enforcibiity about safe driving is crucial. In the downtown area, the speed limit is 25 MPH, and on the outskirts of Danville, the speed limits range from 30-45 MPH. The town council makes traffic enforcement a priority by instilling safety and appropriate behavior while driving in Danville. Again, due to the beautification project that was recently finished, there are large street signs
