In the town of Surette with the decision on whether an abandoned building should be developed into private office space or a community center, the best route would be to turn the abandon building into a community center for the tow of Surette. A community center is the route that I have chosen due to the fact that people within the community have requested for a public facility that will allow the community to hold special events such as social gathering as well as a place to hold athletic programs. Turning the abandoned building into a community center can still be very beneficial to the community’s economic revenue, along with also being able to generate a high quality life center for the community to use for multiple reasons. By transitioning
into a community center there would still be income from the various events that would be held at the community center. The community center would add the community’s quality of life. The center would be able to offer many activities to all age groups of people within the community. Such as arts and crafts, woodworking, cooking classes and many more. The community center would be seen as a safe place for everyone to come and have fun. Where families can go and play games, watch their children play basketball, and help their children get tutoring. These are just a few ways that the community would be able to take active part in a community center that they have all be wanting for their community. Yes, the revenue would not be as generous as if the abandoned building was turning into offices, but the revenue of happies for the community would be.
A strength in the community system is the tight bound that is present within the community. Despite the neighborhood being run-down, the community is described as a close-knit family. Those who are against the development have formed the Brickville Community Benefits Alliance to voice their disapproval of the development. Those for the development have formed the group, Vision Brickville. Despite there being two groups, it shows that the community can unite together to support the causes that they support.
The Greenhill Community Center was a multi-service center in Coastal City. Its main purpose was to provide human service programs for various factors throughout life with an intergenerational setting. Some of these included day care, elder programs, music classes, and afterschool programs. It was founded in 1982 and was set up in an old schoolhouse. In short, this community center could use some help.
Our current project, "The W.J. Bryan Primary Learning Center", under construction, is located a block away from the main building, to house a pre-k and eight kindergarten classes. In addition, an administrator, lead teacher, cafeteria, and complete office staff will staff the new center. Its doors are scheduled to open to staff, students, and parents in April, 1998.
How do you conceptualize Pat’s situation? I see Pat’s situation as a client that has a strong external force that is influencing her situation. I do not feel that Pat has a solid of idea of whom she may be or what she would like as a career. The only thing that is certain is that Pat does not want to become a chef. She seems to have other creative aspirations; however, she has not had the opportunity to explore those options because of her circumstances.
Lately I have noticed numerous abandoned buildings around the Battle Creek area; the sight makes our city look run down and cheap. I believe something must be done about this issue such as turning the buildings into new city attractions. Two vacant buildings that come to mind are the run down State Police Station and the dilapidated Family Fare store.
When horrific crimes occur in large cities, many of them can be chalked up to gang violence or to the larger population of that specific city. But when horrific crimes happen in small cities like Lincoln, Nebraska, people begin to ask questions like who did this and why. In 1958, a nineteen year old man named Charles Starkweather put the entire state of Nebraska and possibly the entire nation in a state of terror. With his murder spree taking only three days, Starkweather had collected a body count of ten bodies, including two teenagers and a young child. Understanding Starkweather’s past and state of mind begins to answer the second question of why.

Nearly every aspect of law enforcement has a court decision that governs criteria. Most court rulings are the result of civil lawsuit towards a police officer and agency. However, currently, there is no law that mandates law enforcement driver training. When it comes to firearms, negligence by officers has resulted in a multitude of court rulings. Popow v. City of Margate, 1979, is a particularly interesting case that outlines failed firearms training by an agency. In this case, an officer chasing a suspect during a foot pursuit fired at the suspect, striking and killing an innocent bystander (Justia.com, 2017). The court ruled that the agency was “grossly negligent” of “failure to train” (Justia.com, 2017). As a result, nearly every agency requires annual firearms training and has written policy concerning the same. Officers must show proficiency in firearms use every year to maintain their certification. Many states even impose fines on officers for
Because of the amount of overdeveloped areas that are now vacant, the desire to renovate old vacant properties and land plots has all but disappeared. What if there was a beneficial solution to unused land plots in need of rehab and redesign? What if, instead of paving over every leftover inch of grass and dirt in urban areas to make room for more parking for our daily commuting polluters, we instead reinvent that land for a purpose that is both beneficial to our
The initial community meeting has a great impact on the tone of the community. During the meeting, I would like to tell my residents our ultimate goal, having a good community. Then I would explain what a good community is. A good community is one where we share the resources and seek to improve the environment. Characteristics of a good community would include clean and safe environments, equity and social justice, diversity, mutually-supportive relationships and eager participation of residents. I will achieve this by encouraging residents to be part of the process of establishing expectations. By this way, they would become more invested in the expectations as they help create them or otherwise they may see these expectations as imposed from above.
This case study is intended to analyze the movie When a Man Loves a Woman, and to provide worst and best case scenarios for treatment. This film depicts a family that is struggling with a family member’s alcoholic dependency. The mother, Alice Green, is a school counselor who has an addiction to alcohol that is causing her to experience problems in her life as a result of her use. Her husband, Michael Green, is an airline pilot that is very protective Alice and often steps in and takes over for Alice, even in her role as a mother. Alice has two children, Jess and Casey, which also bear witness to their mother’s deterioration from alcohol addiction.
HelloFresh is a food delivery service. Like others in the food delivery industry, they deliver meal kits and recipes. They deliver a recipe sheet for you to follow, and they deliver the exact amount of ingredients you need to cook and complete the meal. HelloFresh do not advertise themselves as a food delivery company (which is fair enough), they say they are a meal kit service, but some people think this means they deliver the tools and equipment to make meals, which is not so, they only deliver the ingredients and the recipe.
The problem however, with these “renewal projects” is that the implemented changes are never usually intended to benefit the long time inhabitants of these communities, these changes are intended usually, to push out the element of poverty that exists in many of these communities (which is a direct result of decades of neglect) in exchange for the opportunity to cater to a more affluent (usually less “ethnic”) demographic. In laymen’s terms, city planners, elected officials, prospective businesses, and even law enforcement, all converge for the purpose of removing poor people from an area by simply making it too pleasant and by exten...
Frequently however, issues arise amongst a community that need attention. In this essay I will outline and discuss some of these issues and the interventions, projects or programmes designed and used to tackle and combat them. The three models of intervention or, ‘Community Development’, I will discuss in this essay, "Social Planning", "Community Development", and "Social/Community Action", all have the same aim regardless of how it is accomplished and this is to improve and maintain the conditions which affect the lives of the community.
As we can observe what thing around us, many Barangay Hall were built “only” to give barangay officials office due to the government budget is less for this type of project. In the worst way, it sometimes
