Budget is decided each financial year with the following stages:
1) Randy Nanna (Publisher) identifies Physics Today's budgetary needs
2) He then discusses this with the Editor-in-Chief, Production Manager, Marketing Manager and Online Manager
3) If all concur, the financial plan is then presented to American Institute of Physics committee.
4) Ultimate decision is then made by the AIP committee as to whether full or part funding is provided for the magazine.

She is tasked with overseeing all of the day-to-day finance operations for Physics Today. This role includes management of financial reports, managing budget for the production department and liaising with the sales team regarding advertising payments.
Rita Wehrenberg is responsible for art and production. This function seeks to improve the design of the Website and magazine. Producing better quality services, leads to an increase in direct sales. This then improves Physics Today's bargaining power with advertisers by boasting a wide readership.
Tonya Gary works to control the administrative function for Physics Today, acting as a link between all functions of the company. This role involves dealing with enquiries/complaints and sending out important updates to all staff members. Without this function, employees would not be kept in the loop regarding business operations and customer complaints would not be resolved.
The Sales function is integral to business operations. Representatives endeavour to sell advertising space in Physics Today Magazine as well as promoting the advertisements available on their Website. This HR function involves arranging training with outside training providers or designing and running internal training courses. These can include Health and Safety, Customer Services and team leadership training to name a few. New employees will receive induction training, which will help them to obtain information on the organisation they will be working for as well as learning important aspects of their job roles. David Ulrich points out four distinctive roles of HR which makes the organisation most effective and produce competitive advantage. He planned to change the structure of HR function and build HR around roles. Analysis of an Advertising Campaign We are swarmed by advertising. Companies constantly battle to compete for the sale of their product. Adverts appear in every form of media including radio; television; Internet; billboards; newspaper; flyers and magazines. The advertiser wants us to buy their product above their competitors. The basic aim of advertising is to convince the target audience that their product is the best in the field and superior to the other products of similarity.
Physics You can find the law of physics in everything that you do. It does not matter if you are doing complex scientific experiments, working as a laborer in a field, or enjoying your favorite pastime, you are involved in putting the laws of physics to work. I will try to demonstrate this as I discuss the laws of physics that are involved in my favorite pastime, which is steer wrestling. The art of steer wrestling is complex and simple, all at the same time. To start, let’s define what exactly steer wrestling is.

The primary functions of administrative, development and management. Administrative functions include those tasks that are often considered “overhead,” such as benefits and payroll management. Development, or HRD, is defined by Swanson (2001) as, “Human resource development is a process of developing and/or unleashing expertise through organization development (OD) and personnel training and development for the purpose of improving performance (as cited by Hassan, 2007, pg. 2). Lastly, management is those strategic functions that align HR tasks within its own department and with the overarching organizational strategies.
Until my junior year, I held a strong, yet unfounded, opinion that physics was boring. To me, physics was applied algebra showing how trains collide and gravity pulls bowling balls off skyscrapers. But one day, my older brother returned from a lecture given by a candidate for a professorship at Bard College about quantum gravity, and fervently recommended that I look out for this lecturer. Later in the summer of my sophomore year, I found out that the quantum gravity lecturer, Hal Haggard, was indeed accepted as a new Assistant Professor of Physics at Bard. All new Bard physics professors must begin their careers by teaching Introductory Physics, so I realized this was the perfect opportunity to test the waters of the subject.
