Adia is studying to receive her bachelors ‘degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology at the University of South Carolina Upstate. At her campus Adia has been a part of the track and field team as well as the intramural volleyball team. She has recently joined the Illustrious organization of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; and enjoys giving back to her community. Adia graduates in May, 2018 and plans on continuing her study at Greenville Tech to become an Occupational Therapist Assistant. In addition she has worked in childcare for three years and is First Aid Certified.
Becoming an Occupational Therapy Assistant has been an ambition of mine for several years now. After researching, job shadowing, and talking to professionals, I have decided to make Occupation Therapy my career. My passion is to help patients by participating and assisting them in their recovery from injuries and disabilities. My compassionate and caring attitude will be vital assets in pursuing this career. After training in Occupational Therapy, it is motivating for me to know that I will be a part of assisting patients to gain back their independence. Helping others is something that I am passionate about in my career and in my spare time. I have been on several mission trips to Haiti and other places which I have provided care for others in a medical setting.

Standing at the starting line of the full marathon I felt anxious and nervous. Not only was I excited to accomplish this goal, but also I was nervous about the difficulty of this task. However, when I crossed the finish line and accomplished this goal, I realized that a new and possibly more difficult goal was about to start. They learn through these interactions, which begin to help shape who they are and who they want to become. Every human being has a different purpose in his or her own life. Some may seek professional success or social status. They may have the desire to attain a position leadership that perhaps seeks to help others. No matter what the case, most people do have one thing in common: the basic desire to be accepted and love.
