Altering Sequoyah High School
High school is a time for students to develop new interests, talents, and hobbies. As well as, prepare them with material they need for college or the workforce. Most schools, Sequoyah High School being amongst one of these schools, are lacking the resources that students need in order to pursue these academic interests. Although Sequoyah High School is a great high school for students in Monroe County, there are several issues that still need to change in order to help better the school system as a whole.
Most importantly, I would replace some of the staff at Sequoyah High School because some teachers fail to provide the necessary information that the students need to gain appropriate knowledge for the future.
This case study is a situation from Case Studies on Educational Administration (Kowalski, 2011). The background information is listed below.
The trivialization of high school in the present educational organization for teens has been posited in the public; however, it is one vital issue that is being debated.
Thomas Jefferson was a man who believed that all American citizens need to be educated so that they may exercise their rights. He saw public education as essential to a democracy. One proposal he made for public education would guarantee that all children could attend public schools for three years. However, much like other early school reforms, this proposal received much rejection and was never brought into being. Despite this rejection, Jefferson still believed that America needed public education. Eventually, he opened the University of Virginia. Even though his bills and proposals to benefit public education never saw the light of day, he still made many contributions to public education by providing the foundation on how a democracy should handle educating its
Detroit, once known as a bustling city of fast cars and bling, is now known for its poor education system. Detroit, minus its Red Wings, has failed at every turn economically and educationally. With its population cut in half and poverty rates soaring, there is no telling what can stop this disaster of a city. The only hope, it seems, is to better educate the region that Detroit inhabits. Detroit Public Schools has been one of the worst performing school districts in recent years. In 2013, the city of Detroit filed chapter 9 bankruptcy, the largest account of bankruptcy to-date. Good teachers avoid Detroit Public Schools because of the poverty, job quality, and low pay, leaving children with the unqualified teachers they have today in this poverty-plagued city that they call home.
The limited experience that a high schooler receives does not give them the opportunities that they deserve. Also, the general information that is taught to students does not apply to their needs; this information does not allow them to find their path in which they want to live their lives. In addition, a democratic education system is not portrayed throughout high school. Relationships between students and teachers are nonexistent, and students are dropping out of high school as a result. Our society is full of unsuccessful human beings that have no idea of how to live their life. This is what our education system has created. Now, we must make the change and stick to Dewey’s educational
With the support of the district, administers, faculty, staff, students and parents I can turn this around within my five year contract. By making sure our teachers have prior training, resources and the knowledge to educate the students of Rocky Road School District. By creating and using a computer based program that will measure the progress for all students in the district. Interventions will be put in place for students who are struggling in reading and mathematics. The district will fund several teachers to tutor needy students before and after school. The plan will be in place for two years and will be up for review to be revised occurring to the test scores at the time.
Current public high school curriculum are simply too easy. Students are able to take too many easy classes that do not challenge them. This is the first point that needs to be focused on when trying to fix this problem. Within this one cause, there are many different solutions. However, I do not have the time here to name them all. I am going to focus on one particular recommendation that I believe would help the most.

My school, Community School of Davidson has some things that would surpass my standards if I were class president. I would choose to change our homecoming, a time to celebrate our school. I believe that we should have a more traditional homecoming. This would consist of having the Homecoming football game on a Friday night. Then on that saturday we would have someone to go to the formal with, our date. This is what most schools do and I just think that it would be a lot of fun to get dressed up and go with your date to homecoming. Another thing that I would choose to change if I was running for class president is that I would choose to remove jumpstart, a time to be active during the day. I do like having the extra ten minutes to goof around
“At the heart of a high-community school is an inclusive web of respectful, supportive relationships among and between students, teachers and parents. We learn best from, and with, those to whom we relate well. High-community schools emphasize not only the importance of academic learning, but also the other qualities that ...

During my junior year of high school, I met a new student who came from Morocco. She didn’t speak English and had a hard time adjusting to a different culture because we were the only ones who wore the hijab. I talked to my counselor about this and I asked if we could be in the same classes until she gets comfortable with this type of environment. Unfortunately, there came a time when a student started harassing her about being Muslim. I could tell that it was affecting her mentally. After seeing this, I decided to make a difference in Horizon High School. Three other students and I created an organization called Umbrella Project. Umbrella Project focuses on discrimination against students at Horizon High School. I believed that I could make
On October 3rd, at Ann Van Park, Hillsborough Middle School was participating in a large race, known as the Brian Hahl Invitational. This meet is in honor of Brian Hahl, he was the coach of the boys’ Cross Country Team. Tragically, Brian Hahl died of a heart attack while riding his bike. In his memory, every year Hillsborough Middle School hosts an invitational meet named after him. About 7-8 schools show up every year to participate, Hillsborough included. Top 40 in each race will receive a medal.
My program would be more interactive with students to raise awareness about sexual assault. I would persuade the President to have a mandatory in-person class that all students must take. An in-person class would be beneficial because it will force students to attend it. The class will be a one-unit class that meets up once a week. By it being once a week, it will have the student thinking about the class for the semester. On top of that, I would post more flyers raising awareness about sexual assault. The flyers would be put out the week before “Take Back the Night” that Fresno State has so that more students can be encouraged to go to it. The event sometimes has victims talk about their sexual assault and everything they have been through
Education is the key to success and there are multiple ways to boost a student’s confidence while attending high school to enhance a better future for his/herself. It is our job as parents and faculty to keep the students engaged and aware of the repercussions of dropping out and to do everything in our power to keep the students productive and interactive to ensure a bright
