Introduction
Case conceptualization and treatment planning is used by therapist to assist in determining a client’s diagnosis, goals, and treatment plan that is most effective in determining the issues surrounding the clients diagnosis. It is crucial that the client’s treatment plan is specific to the individual, is relational and appropriate to the needs of the client.
Case conceptualization and treatment planning ultimately assist therapist in finding methods of therapy that will work in relations to the client’s needs. Behavior Therapy is one therapeutic approach; that is defined as a treatment that helps improve self-destructing behaviors; desired or undesired that is to be removed or added. It additionally is used to interchange dangerous habits with smart ones. It helps the client to deal with tough situations.
Presenting Concerns
Chris a sixteen year old African male enter into therapy seeking professional help. Chris grew up in an urban neighborhood in New York, together with his mother and father. Chris develop problems due to longing attention. He begins to act out, hang around with the incorrect crowd, and get into fights.
Chris problems worsen once he's distressed with the sudden loss of his parents to an automobile accident. Once the tragic Chris suffers from multiple problems that have an effect on his existence. He claims to own problems with emotional outburst; he acts out frequently, issues forming relationships with other individuals, and has nightmares. He additionally states that he becomes upset and troublesome to regulate. He explains he's experiencing feelings of being alone, abandonment and rejection. Chris is able to implementing certain events from the present and past to explain his problems. He was able to identify the origin of his behavioral problems, by working through his current story to re-author a new story (Murdock 2013).
During therapy Chis acknowledged that he needed to change and choose to unlearn what he has learned; He has to separate himself from his learned behaviors, in which his behavioral problems formed. He was given tools to implement the creation of a new-behavioral pattern for his life (Murdock 2013).
