Many countries have the pleasure of celebrating Independence Days. These historic holidays are filled with nationalistic celebrations and delicious traditional food. In Chile, the natives celebrate their break from Spain with Fiestas Patrias. In Mexico, the president begins the celebration by ringing a bell and reciting the “Grito de Dolores” and he ends his speech by saying “Viva Mexico” three times.
Racism has resided within the Dominican Republic for centuries after the defeat of the Haitian Empire. Yet, the profuse racism came from the Presidency of Rafael Trujillo. Rafael Trujillo yearned to withhold the prevalence of white skin-tone in Dominican individuals. Trujillo initiated an anti-Haitian regime as he was determined to whiten his country. To present himself as a white Dominican, Trujillo wore makeup to lighten his appearance, to uphold his standards. Yet, the horrific, defining moment of his presidency was the Parsley Massacre. Trujillo started the massacre in 1937, as he sought to deceive his people by claiming the Haitians were practicing witchety, while claiming they kept a Dominican opponent in hiding. Dominican troops slaughtered
Since my parents are from Mexico and I am Hispanic, I decided to write about a pilot of Mexican descent; indeed, Roberto Fierro Villalobos was an influential pilot who fought in multiple Mexican revolutions, became governor, and even has an airport named in his honor. Not only was he a combat pilot during the 1920’s fighting the rebels, he also set aviation records during his lifetime. Roberto Fierro Villalobos had a significant impact on the multiple battles he fought during his service in the military; indeed, his background influenced his courage during battle and that same courage led him to set records for aviation

Francisco Vasquez de Coronado was unquestionably one of the most influential explorers of the New World. Close friend of the Viceroy of New Spain and governor of Nueva Galicia for a time, his influence in the Spanish colonies was great, even before he set off on his great expedition to the north. Exploring the far reaches of the Rio Grande River, nearly reaching the southern border of Nebraska, traveling through the great “Staked Plains”, and being the first Europeans to lay eyes upon the Grand Canyon, his expedition was one of the most expansive and thorough explorations of the New World led by Europeans. Claiming great tracts of land across the Pecos River for Spain,
Emotions are frequent companions in our lives. They come and go, and constantly change like the weather. They generate powerful chemicals that create positive and negative feelings, which have a powerful effect on leadership. Some emotions can either facilitate leadership, while others can detract from successful leadership. This course, Emotionally Intelligent Leadership, has truly opened my eyes to the affects that emotions have on being an effective leader. Peter Salovey and John Mayer defined emotional intelligence as “the ability to monitor one’s own and other’s feelings and emotions to use the information to guide one’s thinking and actions” (p. 5). This definition in itself states that emotions, whether it be ones own emotions or those of others, is the underlying factor that directs the actions of a leader. Therefore, throughout the progression (advancement) of this course, I have learned the importance of the development of emotional intelligence for being an effective leader, and because of this I plan on developing the capacities that contribute to being an emotionally intelligent leader for my own success, now and in the future.
(2013) separated emotional intelligence into four domains, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management (pp. 30, 38). These domains are then broken into two competencies. Self-awareness, the understanding of one 's emotions and being clear about one 's purpose, and self-management, the focused drive and emotional self-control, make up the personal competence (pp. 39, 45-46). While social awareness, or empathy and service, and relationship management, the handling of other people 's emotions, make up the social competence (pp. 39, 48, 51). These emotional intelligence competencies are not innate talents, but learned abilities, each of which contribute to making leaders more resonant and effective (p. 38). This is good news for me because I still have much to develop in regards to emotional
In Mexico, Maquiladora is a manufacturing operation, where factories import certain material and equipment on a duty -free and tariff free basis for assembly, processing or Introduction. They are examples of special economic zones as seen in many countries. Maquiladoras are plants which import raw materials, components, machinery, and then re-export, primarily to the United States, paying taxes only on the value added. According to one research on the maquiladoras, “It was found out that by 2006, nearly 50% of Mexico’s total exports came from maquiladoras.” (Cargillo J., Zarate R., 2009.). Capital was allowed in the manufacturing industry. “The maquiladora sector emerged as the official response to unemployment in Mexico's northern

Ruy Gonzalez de Clavijo (d. 1412) was a Castilian traveler and writer, who was sent to the court of Timur as an ambassador by the ruler of Castile (Spain) Enrique III. Clavijo wrote about the land of Timurids at the peak of its glory and diligence of Timur to embellish his capital. Clavijo’s travelogue shows to the audience Samarqand as the city, which is in a constant cycle of construction and Timur, as a diligent, perfectionist ruler, so, this can be seen from the following excerpt: “ The Mosque which Timur had caused to be built to the memory of the mother of his wife... seemed to us to be the noblest of all we visited in the city of Samarkand, but no sooner had it been completed than he began to find fault with its entrance gateway, which he now said was much too low and must be pulled down”.
