Carla Washburn Case

Carla Washburn, an incredible, inspirational woman that has sadly witnessed the 3 closest male figures in her life all pass on. This has resulted in Carla becoming depressed over the unbearable experience. Carla embraced in giving back to the community and that’s not surprising because she’s a person of spirituality. While, Carla is the client and is suffering through grief, it’s likely she’d benefit immensely from creating a program to work with the kids in the community and may give her a sense of worth she’s been seeking since these 3 tragedies.
Client shared numerous physical concerns that should be tackled right away. Client explained a fall at home was the initial reason for the visit. While client refuses to go to see a doctor it would be advised client check to make sure there’s no fractures in the bones. At the doctor it would be detrimental to discuss if the diabetes played any effect into the fall. Lastly, it would be ideal the client got a professional opinion on whether her medications are adequate. It’s evident that in order to tackle the psychological barriers, the physical concerns are also priority.
In a psychological sense Carla has listed off the deaths of her 3 men as the overwhelming contributor of the

depression. Carla needs to be directed towards Reverend Smith who will be open to hearing and speaking with Carla about her issues. While at it may even incorporate a program through the church where widows can benefit off one another through the grief. Another major element is the financial stress over her shoulder. She’s concerned with the pension in jeopardy, so figuring out a solution if it closes is vital in her livelihood.
Social issues in environment mentioned were the matter of living alone, the condition of the neighborhood, the lack of care, and the relationship with those near to her.

Since the Mill’s closing the community has gone downhill with unemployment and crime skyrocketing. Carla should speak with Reverend Smith to possibly create programs to reduce the crime such as, after school programs as well as crime watch in community, and more police to assure safety for residents. The matter of lack of care and living alone could be solved by bringing a caretaker into the home of Carla if she’s open to the concept. Carla would benefit from carrying on with her relationship with sister, and improving on one with Loretta, Reverend, and especially

Alice.
Carla needs to utilize her spirituality and take those values to help benefit her and those around her and develop her social networks. Her appreciation for contribution to others is something that can be an impact for everyone. Carla could run either a program from home with some of the community children like Lila and Johnson children or could run an afterschool program so that these parents would be assured their children are safe. Carla should establish a relationship with the church and see how they can implement these programs and use community resources like the library, grocery store, and park for resources. Must also continue to work with the police to improve the crime issues and work with the M.H.D. All these sources can be provided to Carla to guide her towards an impactful life change.
Alice has lost the life of her beloved Roland Jr. and is likely dealing with her own grief over the matter. Sadly, Alice was never really accepted into the Washburn’s family so she has no real connection with them following the wedding. Because of this there’s a fear that Alice herself is not able to process through the grieving stages properly. Alice must look at her values and belief system in order to create a plan to trump the depression. Little is said about Alice sadly but what can be expected is that she needs to develop a social network and work on her own psychological and social issues. She must establish a relationship in which she can share about her own personal feelings. While Alice and Carla may have found no connection before it’s possible that at this point in time they’re the perfect fit for one another to work together to overcome this heartbreak.
