As I walked into college I wasn’t sure what to expect. While I had seen what movies portray college to be I knew that realistically it isn’t like that. I was timid to see how I would get around and function in this whole new world. Through personal experience and through watching the mistakes of others I have gotten a good introduction to what my future years are going to look like. My classes were also a major key to having a successful first college semester, they taught me to be responsible and be on time. Selected Topics specifically has helped expand the box my mind was in when it comes to how to get through college successfully. Along the way there has been some mishaps but overall my first semester has been a great start to the next four or more years of my life. The first day of classes was a little scary but I noticed immediately how fast paced the classes really were. I’ve always known I want to go into the medical field but I wasn’t sure about what specific job would suit my wants and needs. I took four of the assessments online and when looking over the results the CareerPathfinder put the job as a Physical Therapists as one of my top choices. Before this point I hadn’t ever really thought about going into that career path, I more so geared towards the nursing route. Once I started doing more research on the job for the in-class presentation I started to realize that this job was almost perfect for me. I got to move around and help patients in my everyday life; it left me almost no time to be bored on the job. If it wasn’t for talking about this in class I don’t think I would have ever opened myself up to that career and for that reason is why this topic has made the biggest impact on my
