The career I want to pursue when I go to college is in marine science. This career sparks my interests and fits my character style. As a child, I was intrigued by stories that took place in the ocean or along the beach. Sea creatures and indigenous areas always left me wanting to learn more. Even though natural disasters were devastating, they caught my attention too. The college I selected is the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) I found it to be an affordable college choice and have the most academic advantages in my career choice to become a Marine Biologist. Although I have not participated in many marine aquatic activities, I still chose to research the career path to becoming a Marine Biologist.
Founded in 1910 by the governor of California, UCLA is a public research university that strives for the “creation, dissemination, preservaton, and application of knowledge for the betterment of a global society” (UCLA ). The university implemented the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) which later became the global Internet. The National Research Council (NRC) reports that UCLA academics ranks among the top ten in the nation and is yet among the most affordable for college classes. UCLA’s in-state cost of attendance for one year is $32,414 compared to Columbia University, New York at $49,138. Focused on an optimistic approach, UCLA engages past accomplishments and continues to bring about new technologies and global advancements.
The Marine Biology program at UCLA is geared toward students who want to specialize in the field of marine sciences. In addition to learning biology, students gain first-rate experience in such disciplines as oceonography, marine organisms, and the evolutionary processes of lif...

...ms within. I grew up on the lake, so water will and has always been a part of my life. I go to the beach almost every year, so I am frequently involved with the ocean life as well. My dad is a fisherman; he has been to many places and shown me many unique animals he has caught. I feel that it would be the most interesting job to have because there is a huge ocean to explore. Another awesome part of the job would be the idea of always learning new things about the fish. It would never turn into that job that has the same old routine because discoveries are still being made. The only down side to being a marine biologist is constantly smelling like a fish and dealing with the rather large fish that could endanger my life. But every job is going to have a down side, if these two are the only downsides to having this job, then I would have no problem conquering my fear.

I was recently accepted into the Exploratory Studies college at NC State, and am beyond excited to hopefully continue my academic career at NC State University. Although I am currently undecided on my major, I've shown the most interest in math and science related subjects, and hope to pursue similar avenues of study at State through the Exploratory Studies program. I am interested in exploring different career paths that I may have not yet considered, and believe that this program will provide me with the resources necessary to truly discover what I want to do for the rest of my life. Although I currently do not have any specific career objectives, I am confident that I will leave NC State prepared to build a successful career, regardless of my eventual major. I am excited at how much NC State and the Exploratory Studies college has to offer, and hope to eventually graduate with the experience and knowledge to begin a professional career.

As an Earth and Oceanographic Science major at Bowdoin College, the courses offered at Bowdoin are more generalized for all earth systems such as rock processes, surface processes, and ocean processes. I want a more intense study of ocean processes, like the carbon cycle and biological pump. I am very interested the field experience I could gain on a tall ship. This is
When I decided to attend Northern Arizona University and be a Lumberjack, it was initially due to its reputation as the best teachers college in Arizona, but ironically, I have never been an education major, or taken any education courses. Education was an overcrowded field, so I entertained the idea of being a Computer Science major. Ha! That lasted less than a month before I knew that was going to fail.

Collet became, and is today, the founder and director of the Center for Research on Marine Mammals in La Rochelle. She has been a Biologist for the past twenty years and has enjoyed every second of it. In her books she speaks with vivid intensity of her encounters with whales, dolphins and seals throughout the world’s oceans. She conveys the thrilling aspects of her work with marine mammals, from the sublime gaze of a whale’s eye to the race to save animals harmed by drift nets or toxic spills. Like the teenagers she regularly takes on her voyages, the reader will not only learn about such things as whale evolution and the unusual sensitivity of dolphins’ skin, but will experience her passion for the ocean, respect for its creatures, and heartfelt concern about “scorched sea” policy of over fishing, trawl fishing and pollution.
Choosing the right career can be difficult for some. There are many things someone should look into when trying to choose their perfect profession. A person has to look at the profession and see if it fits their skills well. Also do they enjoy the jobs compensation and tasks? Luckily for my school I had to take a mandatory class that helped me choose the right technical program which lead into the perfect job for me. The marine technician career is the best fit due to its salary, job availability, daily tasks as a technician, and training it offers because they all apply to my hobbies and interests.

When the average person thinks about zoology, they usually think about a zoo and or animals. As said in General Zoology, many questions come with this topic. “What is life? In what ways are the various kinds of animals alike or unlike in structure, internal processes, and modes of life? How do animals carry on their activities? How are the many kinds related to one another? In what ways does man resemble and differ from other living things? The answers to many of these questions are provided by the science of zoology.” (General Zoology, page 3). While zoology does involve animals, the general study of zoology is far more complicated then one would imagine. Zoology is a branch of biology that studies the classification, origins, habitats and behaviors of organisms. Someone who studies zoology is a zoologist, and has the tasks of learning about new species and their habitats. It is a job that if mastered, can be one of the most fulfilling and knowledgeable careers someone can obtain.
