I always knew, without a doubt, that I would attend college. From the time I was very young, it was instilled in me by the adults in my life that going to college and furthering my education was my best shot at being successful. Now that I am partaking on this journey, I can only hope that those people were right. I have dreamt of what college I would attend and what career I would choose for as long as I can remember. I can recall going back and forth between a wide variety of career paths, but I knew one thing for certain: I wanted a job in the field of healthcare. It has always been a passion of mine to want to help people and I feel that a job in this field would allow me to do just that. When I was younger, I was a strange child that was never bothered by having to go to the doctor or dentist. It actually excited me! I found myself in awe and fascinated by all of the different tools and procedures. I told myself that one day that would be me diagnosing patients and prescribing medicines. I couldn’t participate in sports anymore and had to spend three days a week for six months at physical therapy. I hated every second of it for the first few weeks and would beg my parents to not make me go. I eventually got used to it and during my time there, I gained a love for it. Despite how miserable I was and how much I hated doing the stretches and exercises, I noticed my body slowly but surely starting to heal. It was amazing to see all of my hard work pay off. I could do all of the things I did before my injury and I had never felt better! I decided then and there that I wanted to spend my life helping people recover from their injuries and diseases.
