Employment of art directors are projected to decline from 2016 to 2026. There is a strong competition to get the job you want. There are many other talented people like you and me trying to get the same job. Workers who are organized will have the best future ahead. I don’t believe there is any company hiring right now.
Why I Chose This Career
I chose this career because it interests me. I’ve thought of being an art director before I even took this class. I learned from this research that some art directors are very successful. The ones that put forth the effort are the ones who have a good future ahead of them. I’m not going to lie after researching it being an art director does seem harder than it looks but I know if I put forth the effort I know I’ll be alright if I pursue this
I chose to go into the field of Social Work. The reason being I felt that I was good at helping others. I am helpful by nature and I tend to attract those looking to be helped. I believe my career choice is appropriate for me because I do fill enjoyment when I help others. It is something that I get tired of at times but the end result always lifts my spirits. I have been in the helping field for 20 years and I can’t think of any other career that would work best for me.
For example, with this job, I can make enough money to support myself in the future. In fact, the starting salary for graphic designers is around a mid-range salary; it is about forty-five thousand dollars per year. This will provide me enough money to obtain everything I need to survive on my own. I will make enough to pay rent or a mortgage, buy food, buy clothes, and provide myself with all necessary utilities in order to live comfortably. This salary can also increase with promotions; therefore, the higher the promotion I receive, the higher my salary will be. My salary can range anywhere from forty-five thousand to eighty thousand dollars per year, depending on location and title. Although this is the median salary for graphic designers, there is always opportunity to make more per
So, you want to become a Movie Director? With becoming a Director, especially a Movie Director, comes many advantages and disadvantages. Advantages can be anything from gaining a great amount of salary annually, that you are your own “boss,” or that you get to dream for a living. Some of the disadvantages are that Directors work irregular hours, they have very stressful work, and it requires lots of skill. To start out though, what are Movie Directors duties? They have to select a script or an idea for a movie. As Steven Spielberg says, “It all starts with the script: it's not worth taking myself away from my family if I don't have something I'm really passionate about.” Basically, what he means is if you don’t have a script, you don’t have a movie, therefore, just go home. Some more jobs that they must do is select a casting director to find a cast, to make sure that a project stays on track as far as time and money, and they also tell the actors what they have to do to make the movie better. Well, as they say in Hollywood, “Let’s get this show on the road!” Advantage number 1, is that being a Movie Director can bring in a boat load of cash, if you’re good at it. According to The United States Department of Labor, Directors can get on average, about $68,000 a year. Now you have to remember that that is the minimum. If you’re one of the best Directors in the world, such as Steven Spielberg, then you might get paid upwards $330,000,000 a year. If you think that crazy, then you won’t believe that per second, he makes $47.74, per minute he makes $2,864.58, and per hour he makes $171,875. Now, onto advantage number 2, which is that you would be your own boss. Just think, that while there can be anywhere from 1 to 1,000 other people working on the movie, that you have the all complete power. This can also be bad, because if the movie ends up being a flop, people point fingers at you because you made all the production critiques. Advantage number 3, which is the final advantage, is that you get to dream for a living! Steven Spielberg himself says, “I dream for a living.” The coolest thing, I feel, about being a Movie Director, is that in the end, the movie is your dream and imagination.
The job of art director exists in a number of creative fields, including advertising, marketing, publishing, film and television, web design, and video games. Personally my aim would be to work as an Art director in the field of publishing, magazines or novel. To achieve this dream I would need a bachelor's degree in an art or design major such as: fine art, visual communications or digital media. University of West Georgia offers Art major with concentration in graphic design, which is great for the career field I am trying to go into.
From an early age I have always had a strong interest in art, and have been involved with it in some form all through my life. In year nine I realized that it was something that I might like to pursue as a career, I started taking it more seriously. The Chase's art department encouraged me very well and helped me develop my art skills.
Tracy said that she is: paid in commission [and it’s typically] 15-20% [and] sometimes you don’t get paid. [You need to] find opportunities [and the] promos aren’t paid. It’s possible to manage one act and be the head of A&R at a label. Take those opportunities, if you want to be a manager don’t be set on just manager job. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) classifies arts administrators as art directors and states “the job opportunities for these professionals a little growth of approximately 2% between 2014 and 2024”. This type of work will involve fundraising, marketing, staffing, financial management and programming with skills in marketing and human resources, fundraising, budget and research. The BLS expects the opportunities for arts administrators to vary in different industries with a proposed increase for advertising, public relations and special services; motion picture and video industries; and specialized design services. However, according to BLS, little change in the publishing industry’s need for arts administrators over the decade is expected (www.bls.gov). Arts administrators usually hold a bachelor's degree with some earning advanced degrees which provide the skills needed in similar fields such as PR, design, and film.
Now that I have told you what has led me to this decision I would like to tell you exactly why I have chosen to become a teacher. I want to become a teacher not because of the salary nor because I want weekends and holidays off; rather, I want to become a teacher because I truly have a passion for making a difference in others lives. I feel that teaching is perhaps one of the most fulfilling roles in life. Becoming a teacher to me means helping to shape another person by teaching and instructing them.

The highest paid ten percent of interior designers, experts, in 2002 had wages of $69,640, while the lowest paid ten percent, beginners, were paid $21,240 (U.S. Department of Labor). Those who are genuinely committed to a fulltime career in designing know that urban areas and big cities pay better and provide more career options. In small town areas there is less demand for the input of an interior designer. Self-employed designers work for clients at a set, hourly fee, but majority of designers work in a firm for either a straight salary or an hourly fee to clients. In interior design, because there is so much flex given to each designer in a firm, there really are no requirements of benefits, insurance, or retirement plans. The established benefits are completely up to the individual employer. (Careers in Focus: Design)
My passion started with a few insane thoughts as this. However, I am infatuated with what I am doing, following my aspiration. Therefore, day-by-day, I proceed to discover, update the world’s latest fashion trends through well-known websites including Lookbook.nu, Polyvore…and learn from popular fashion illustrators, especially Hayden Williams, who is one of my favorites. A majority of people in my country entirely worried about future career, salary and promotion…which leads to their dishonesty about what they want to be.
