The Crash Thunder, lightning rain water all the things my family had to go through at this hard time. It all happened when my husband died. It was a normal weekend going out for dinner at Chipotle. I had two, six year old twins named Niki and Tye, also one more girl at the age of twelve named Addison. We got in the car and drove. It was getting dark faster and my husband can’t drive in the dark, but I also could not because I had a cast on my ankle we decided to just eat something closer to the house, but the car crashed right by the drivers side by a drunk driver my husband died I had a bad cut on my face that needed stitches and my kids were all bruised. We were all rushed to the hospital “ASAP” …show more content…
I scramble to try to get out to help my kids and get out of the car I try to flip the car to help my unconscious husband flopped in the car. I asked Addison to help me flip the car back over I was losing so much blood I went unconscious and wake up to the beige room with flowers and family crying. I hold my daughter's hand, saying “take care of your siblings for me”. The next day I find out my husband is dead I cry with my kids ,I hear the sound of beeping sound all around us as if it was just me and my kids and the beeping sound.” That was 1 year ago and we now live by a small river so we can get water. Our house is made of bricks and wood and dirt. We had to make our house strong and stable from the wind and rain. Every day putting my kids in so much work was just not fair for them. Just because I had no money to produce a home and so I decided to go around town to see if people needed help doing lawn work. They would now go to town every Wednesday and Friday and work 3 different people's lawns each day. Addison got $15 she gave $10 to me and the rest she spent with me and the rest they got to spend for herself. The twins got $10 for planting, picking weeds and picking veggies and fruits. $5 to me and $5 for themselves. We went to dollar tree every Saturday for me to get groceries and the kids to get toys and balls and cars and dolls and more. I went home that night and there was a paper by my bed, my daughter got
Contemporary literature is the sharing of timeless truths that still hold relevance in our current society in a current manner. There is a saying “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the Sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9, n.d.). What the saying means is that anything we experience now has already been experienced and to believe that you have a fresh new idea, way of thinking, activity or anything than you are mistaken. Everything that can be thought of already has been. The story that I read during this session that reminds of this and has helped shape my view on contemporary literature is “Car Crash While Hitchhiking”, it was written by Denis Johnson. I’m going to explain how this story in
The car would not go, and none of the electronics in the car would work either. We were just sitting there in silence. All I could think about was how we were going to get out of this terrible place. It was as if our life was flashing before our eyes. Suddenly the radio turns back on. Jingle bells is playing and the music was turned up as loud as it goes. Immediately we all scream. We were all speechless and didn’t know what to do. Jingle Bells only played for a short time and then the radio just went to static. It was as if we would never get out this
Car Accident! The world would be more beautiful if their less or few car accidents. Now a days car accidents happens daily and sometimes they leave a big scratch in the heart if it end up by a death or a serious injury. Also, many thinks they are smart enough that they wont get into a accident because of their tricks in driving but in the end they find them self in a accident.
It was Martin Luther King day of service. My cousins didn’t have school because in Georgia they have the day off, expected to do community service. We had woken up earlier than normal, so we could get to the place we were needed to check in and pick where we wanted to help that day. After my family and I had eaten and gotten dressed, we realized it was very cold outside for Georgia, about 50 degrees. It wasn’t as cold as Iowa, but definitely cold for being in Georgia. My family who was going, my aunt, uncle, cousin who was five, along with my mom and two sisters, Bridget and Ainsley, walked out the heavy black door with a beep when the door opened, leaving my grandparents, other aunt uncle, along with my three year old cousin at home. We piled
When I finally found my words I asked what was going on and my mother told me that my sister was in a car accident. When we arrived at the scene all I could see was my sister’s car sideways in the middle of the road with the entire front of it smashed up towards the windshield. As I looked around I saw my sister, emerging from a tan SUV I had never seen before, running towards my parents. The ambulances began to arrive and I was in my sister’s arms when I realized that there was no other damaged car at the
¨Auto Wreck¨ by Karl Shapiro describes the horrific sight, seen by a witness to an accident. The scene is being described to the reader, and being told through the visuals that had been seen. In line 15, it says, ¨We are deranged, walking among cops¨ showing that they just saw something very uneasy, and are not sure what to do about what they had just witnessed. ¨One with a bucket douches ponds of blood¨ (18). The sight was gruesome, and shocking in the streets.
Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as I lye on my side, sandwiched between the cold, soft dirt and the hot, slick metal of the car. The weight of the car pressed down on the lower half of my body with monster force. It did not hurt, my body was numb. All I could feel was the car hood's mass stamping my body father and farther into the ground. My lungs felt pinched shut and air would neither enter nor escape them. My mind was buzzing. What had just happened? In the distance, on that cursed road, I saw cars driving by completely unaware of what happened, how I felt. I tried to yell but my voice was unheard. All I could do was wait. Wait for someone to help me or wait to die.
Our family was never close but we didn’t care. Nobody thought one day things might be different. All of that changed on September 20, 2014 when a hostile argument ended with the death of both my aunt and uncle. For years their marriage was falling apart. My aunt was very materialistic and wanted my cousins to have whatever they asked for but in reality my uncle knew it was impossible financially for them to achieve this. He would try to explain this to her but it usually led to arguments where she would then threaten to leave him so in the end she got her way which led to their vast debt. My uncle had a drinking problem but went to AA classes for her to commiserate their marriage and family. The night before this event he had drank a beer which led into a dispute which ended with my aunt taking the kids to her mom’s and they stayed their while my uncle just stayed home. Less than twelve hours later the mailman walked up to a house with my aunt dead on the front porch and my uncle inside on the living room floor dead. The screams caught the attention of the neighbors and the police was then called. This is a significant experience in my life that I faced and that had an impact on me during my freshman year and still affects me today. It was a homicide/suicide accident and it deeply impacted my family and me. Not only did it affect my school life but my home life as well.
I always hear those old sayings. In the course of one day I can hear them about everything from retraining old dogs to getting up early. I think they make sense and I even ponder on some of them, but I never really thought one might mean as much to me, or become as realistic as it has become in my life. The clichés about telling those you love, how you feel, before it is too late and the ones about living every day like it is your last have an all new meaning to me.
It was April 22rd 2014, and it started out like any other day. I had just hopped into bed with my mother like I usually did after I woke up on school days, only to find her solemn and hear her say, “Debbie, Ethan was shot last night and was found dead at the scene”. I remember laying in bed and letting those words sink in- trying to fully grasp how this would alter my life and community. The words that my mother spoke quickly shook my world up like a snowglobe and it took a while to settle back down.
I want a lot, and there's a lot I don't. But I'd rather I not want at all. To want - such a human thing to do! You know, a trait of those organic markers who demarcate and deface—then there are those gray areas. Like an epidemic, the smears spread from one to another..
Even though I clearly remember all the sanity me and my little family went through. I never wanted them to know their mother just up and disappear on them. I took a deep breath and was about ready to tell them the whole truth. They already knew too much. But right before I could speak, I became suddenly unspoken-less. They gave me this look, not a look of sadness, more like a look of pride and honor. They both huddle close to me and gave me a hug. The words that came from their mouths next. I 'll never forget
When I looked in the rearview mirror is when I knew it was all over. June 25, 2013 was the most tragic day in my life. It was not until that day that I realized how much I appreciate my life and my family. I was on the freeway headed towards the Galleria in Houston, TX, passing the tall Texaco building on this bright sunny afternoon, when everything went downhill. I remember seeing all of the cars in front of me have their bright red tail lights on because everyone was coming to a stop. As soon as I slowed down, I looked into my rearview mirror to see a beige car not slowing down at all but instead looking down at his phone texting, it was already too late for me to do anything. I felt as if my life were over and there was nothing anyone could do, I was sixteen years old when I had my first car accident. I learned that I should have stayed home the afternoon I got into my first car accident. That afternoon I remember gripping my steering wheel so tightly because I was so nervous about the car behind me that I could feel all of the ridges and grooves throughout my entire steering wheel and every indention in my steering
Oh my God! TJ!“ It was just my mom.She was crying and calling my name again and again.I was so embarrassed and disappointed of my self.I had let her down. After, two of the EMT guys put us on an ambulance. Finally,we made our way to the hospital. My friend john and me were sent in palo alto medical center. It took us about fifteen minute to get there. My friend john was alright. He had a couple of stitches in his head and his arm. He got relieved after a couple of tests but, I was severely injured. I was lying on a hospital bed and thinking what I would have done in the past. Cause this terrible accident happened to me. I was sent to el camino hospital, where I went to the operation theater for my hipbones surgery. The doctor told me after surgery that my hipbones was fractured the reason they had to put a plate in hipbones to stay together.Although, my left arm was also fractured the reason I could not feel my arm. After surgery, they took me to the other room and gave me a couple of injections. Momentarily, I went to sleep. I woke up in the next day and thinking hopefully it was just a dream, but it’s not. I opened my eyes and saw a couple of relative looking me like a stranger. My dad came over my bed and gave me a hug and I literally started crying after thinking about the accident. I could not believe after a massive car accident I was still alive. Doctors kept in hospital couple of
Years ago I had the most terrifying, shocking day of my life. I had between seven or eight years when this happened. The day before the accident, all my family was at my grandfather’s house. We all were eating the food my mother and my aunts brought, telling jokes at the dinner table. Meanwhile, I was playing with my cousins in the backyard. Everyone was enjoying the family meeting. As the time passed by and everyone was about to go home, my mother suggested the idea that we all should go at my grandparent’s ranch next day, since everyone was in town we all could have the chance to go. Everyone liked the idea. It was the perfect time to go because it was a weekend. As they all agreed to go, they begun to decide who bring what to the gathering. Who would have thought that thanks to that suggestion, I would lead me to the hospital the day of the reunion.
