As most may only know from what they have seen in movies, pirates ran rather free in the late 1600s. Piracy was an easy means to accumulate wealth by stealing from merchant trading vessels. With the lack of technology during this time, there was no way of monitoring and controlling the free seas. Jack Sparrow, (made famous form the Pirates of the Caribbean series) is a fine example of a free roaming pirate. Jack can and wants to be considered by his company as an elite pirate due to the fact that he is a captain. Through the use of referencing to scenes from The Pirates of the Caribbean movies, this paper will strive to diagnosis jack sparrow of his possible disorders, and attempt to teach him some different treatment options that may help him cope with or eliminate his symptoms in an attempt to ride him to ride him of his disorder entirely.
Pirates have a natural love for treasure and wealth. They often loose what little morals they possess in exchange for any opportunity to achieve any type of wealth. Pirates at this time are looked at as the scum of the earth (Jacobs Henry). This is shown by the depiction of the dead pirates hanging with a sign that says, “Pirates ye be warned” (Pirates of the Caribbean). Jack had a rough upbringing from early on. It is in these pivotal years that we develop many of our natural tendencies and social behaviors that we carry with us for the rest of our lives. If someone has a hard or troubled upbringing with little stability, then they are often predisposed to certain mental disorders. For example, Jack Sparrow started his life onboard a ship at sea during a typhoon. In no way, shape, or form is coming into the world in such conditions nurturing to the individual. Furthermore, his father Captai...

Though these techniques would work I would imagine that Jack would never go seeking help because he would never see anything he does as wrong or out of the ordinary.

Jack is considered one of the hunters, which means he knows how to track and kill. Sometimes it didn’t really matter to Jack what he was killing, it’s just who he is and has become as a person while on the Island. When Jack and his fellow hunters were about to go out on a hunt they would rub dirt on their faces to camouflage them in their surroundings. In the article “Sunglasses make you less Generous” by Alice Robb it states how when people cover their face so it's hard for others to identify them it makes them less generous. Studies show that “empirical data shows that masks make people more likely to violate rules and norms” (Powell, Kimberly). Jack can be considered a victim of this study because that thin layer of mud changes him from Jack to a primitive killer. Jack's soul possesses a mix of savagery and madness. Sometimes Jack doesn't know how to control himself without even thinking of being violent in any manner. Jack can sometimes get out of control about actions that occur which he doesn’t agree with just like when Ralph yells at him for not manning the fire which could have got them off the island. Some people/scientists may say that anger and strong tempers can be inherited through genes, but according the article Nature vs. Nature, Kimberly Powell says that “the link between a gene and a behavior is not connected to each other and can be set off from a certain cause” This explains how the evil that is possessed in Jack can be set off from another character in the book . These two connect by both being involved with killing or death. This just gives us a preview of how Jack thinks and wants to do
Jack is a low down dirty character who feasts on the imaginations of little boys to gain power amongst himself. Being only ten years old you would wonder how a little kid could become so rotten so early well Jack is living proof of that. Being in control of others brings Jacks happiness sky high its almost as if something comes over him every time he speaks to someone, it's as if in his past life he had horrible experiences with the world and has come back just to tarnish the lives of many young boys during the most tragic tragedy of their lives.I most deeply admire the fact that Jack knows what he wants which is essential in a life that we are living in today because it may interpret your future. What I dislike is that Jack knowingly arrived on this famished island with a plan even though the crash was not expected. The plan was to take existent land that was not entitled to anyone and turn the island into "Jacks World", a place where you will be taken
After reading three short selections on Captain John Smith (General History of Virginia, New England, and the Summer Isles, A Description of New England, and New England’s Trials) in The Norton Anthology of American Literature, 6th Ed., a second source was helpful to learn more about this historical figure. Philip L. Barbour, in The Three Worlds of Captain John Smith, focuses on the major roles Captain Smith filled during his lifetime: adventurer, colonist, and promoter. Because the book was divided into three main categories, it was helpful to use this secondary source in order to gain a greater understanding of John Smith’s role in the New World.
One of the things that changes Jack was his hatred and drives him to the point where he was willing to kill. In the beginning he was a choir boy who knew nothing much, but his hatred grew when he was not elected leader. In the book it quote “And you shut up! Who are you anyway? Sitting here telling people what to do. You can’t hunt, you can’t sing-” (91). This quote shows that Jack had

At the sight of this pirate, many of his victims were quick to surrender without a fight. If they did, he would often times just take their valuables, rum, and weapons— allowing them to sail away. However, if the vessel resisted capture, he would either kill the crew, or maroon them. Blackbeard needed to maintain his devilish image in order to maintain the respect of his crew (very few members of the crew doubted that he was the devil himself, very few didn’t fear him, and therefore they obeyed him).
Jack, on the other hand, is doing nothing but causing chaos. Jack fails to realize that the boys need security, stability, and order on the island. Jack was a leader of the choir before the boys landed on the island. These boys, who were in the choir, still want to follow Jack; however, they have no discipline at all. The only thing that is on Jack’s mind is hunting.

The world system has changed a lot since then. However, it could be interpreted from the point of view in relation to gaining of power and money, to modern day pirates however the act is nowadays illegal and violent, as opposed to considered “heroic” back then
Jack was the problem that’s the real answer to all of this if it wasn't for Jack’s behavior and action just maybe there would be no

In conclusion, Jack was overall an unique leader and person, he went from killing pigs to killing humans, and being the nicest person, to not so nice. The Golden Age of Piracy began around 1650, and ended around 1730. Piracy is an act of robbery or criminal violence at sea, but can include acts committed on land, in the air, or in other major bodies of water or on a shore. It does not normally include crimes committed against persons traveling on the same vessel as the criminal. The term has been used throughout history to refer to raids across land borders by non-state agents. A pirate is one who commits robberies at sea, usually without being allotted to do so by any particular nation. The usual crime for piracy can include being hung, or publically executed. Some of the most famous pirates who were killed either because of piracy, or because of natural causes, are Barbarossa, Stede Bonnet, Anne Bonney, Sir Francis Drake, Captain Greaves, William Kidd, Jean Laffite, Sir Henry Morgan, Mary Read, and Giovanni da Verrazano.
The whole entire story could've had an entire different outcome if Jack didn’t have so many personality blemishes. Jack seems like he has something wrong with him as far as handling his emotions go. He is always very mean to Piggy and was the first to thirst for blood.
