There are millions of topics that people don’t discuss enough, but not all of those topics are as catastrophic and important as cancer. With so many people suffering from many varieties of cancer you’d think there’d be a sign on every bus and thousands of commercials about it daily in every city, state, and country. Cancer is a group of diseases which involve abnormal cell growth which can spread throughout your whole body and destroy body tissue. There are 8 most common cancers, Breast, Prostate, Basal Cell, Melanoma, Colon, Lung, Leukemia and Lymphoma Cancer. Different types of cancers include Breast cancer, which is “cancer that forms in the cells of the breasts.” Prostate cancer is “cancer in a man's prostate, a small walnut-sized gland that produces seminal fluid.” Basal cell cancer is “a type of skin cancer that begins in …show more content…
Melanoma skin cancer symptoms include bigger mole diameter, darkening of the skin, mole color changes, or skin mole with an irregular border. There is a rule used for Melanoma skin cancer called the “ABCDE Rule.” The A is for Asymmetry, leaving one half of a mole or birthmark not matching the other half. B is for Border, the edges on the mole or birthmark are irregular, blurred, ragged or notched. C is for Color, the color may include different shades of brown or black all over and sometimes may have patches of pink, red, white, or blue. D is for Diameter when the spot is larger than 6 millimeters across or can be smaller than this. E is for Evolving, the mole changes size, shape or
Cancer is the term used to describe a group of diseases consisting of hundreds of ailments and although there exists so many different types of cancer, they all begin in a similar way. The body is made up of over a trillion cells, and cancer is the uncontrolled growth of malfunctioning cells in the body (Dawson, 1996). “Normal body cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly fashion. During the early years of a person’s life, normal cells divide faster to allow the person to grow. After the person becomes an adult, most cells divide only to replace worn-out or dying cells or to repair injuries” (American Cancer Society, 2012).
Moles can be define as a cluster of pigment cells that may often appear to be tiny dark brown spots which can virtually develop any part of the body. You can find almost 10 to 40 moles in a person body and this number vary in each and every person. The medical term for moles is nevus or nevi. However it is seen that most moles can come in a different range of colors.
In general, the word cancer is the name given to a collection of related diseases (What is cancer? n.d.. ). In our everyday life multiple thousands of your cells divide in order to keep the function of that certain cell ongoing. Through out all types of cancer, the body begins to force cells to divide without cease which then spreads to the surrounding tissue. Cancer can take form in any part of the human body, were thousands of cells are cancerous. Through time human cells grow and divide to form new ones as it is a requirement for the body to keep functioning. Therefore

Cancer is a very large issue in the world. Cancer is a sickness that can lead to many life threatening problems and can eventually lead to death. There are many different kinds of cancer that can effect a person without them even knowing it is there. One type of cancer that can be easier to detect would be skin cancer. Skin cancer can be diagnosed by seeing a doctor or dermatologist, if they see an abnormal mole or spot on your skin, they many ask to remove the spot and test it in their laboratory. If the spot or mole comes back positive for skin cancer, they next will run more tests to see if it has spread throughout the body. The first thing the doctor will ask you is the time frame from when you first started noticing this on your body,
There are more than a million people suffer from cancer in the United States every day. Lung cancer is not the only type of cancer but it affects many people and families every day. Lung cancer makes the lives of its patients and the families. Lung cancer is one of the deadliest types of cancer and also one of the most common. Hundreds of thousands of people get diagnosed with lung cancer every year in just the United States. Also close to just as many people die from lung cancer in the US every year. With melanoma, you should check all of your moles for any irregularities. If you notice a change in an existing mole such as its shape, size, color, and feel or are unsure about a new mole, you should contact your physician. Use the ABDCE acronym when checking moles for melanoma. ABCDE stands for asymmetry-one side doesn’t match the other, border-irregular with ragged edges, color-uneven and contains various shades of brown, black, or tan, diameter-increase in size, and evolving-the mole has changed over a period of time (National Cancer Institute, 2011).
Cancer can affect anywhere from the brain, lungs, and liver, to the breasts and heart. One of the most common types of cancer is “Carcinoma” “Cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs -- "skin, lung, colon, pancreatic, ovarian cancers," (Medicine net)”. This shows that dozens of different types of cancer only fall into a small category and can all only be treated by certain means. Some types of cancers are even incurable making them particularly dangerous because once you get one of those types of cancers there is nothing that you can do except wait for the inevitable death that awaits you. Meanwhile other forms of cancers are minor, meaning that there is therapy and cures for them, however just because they are minor compared to the more deadly types of cancer, all forms of cancer are extremely potent and dangerous. Sarcoma is another form of cancer “that begins in bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissue -- bone, soft tissue cancers, (Medicine Net)”. This form of cancer affects the body by taking out the supportive tissues and functions, causing extreme pain and discomfort for whom ever is unlucky enough to get it. One of the most common types of cancer is leukemia which “Cancer that starts in blood-forming tissue such as the bone marrow and
It has been difficult to develop an accurate definition for cancer. The reputed British oncologist Willis has defined cancer as "an abnormal mass of tissue, the growth of which exceeds and is uncoordinated with that of the normal tissues and persists in the same excessive manner after cessation of the stimuli which evoked the change" (Cotran et al., 1999).
I would not be the only one to admit that when I hear the word cancer, I cringe. I know how broad the topic is but I want to focus on one specific form of cancer and that is Leukemia. When my cousin, Johnny, was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 12, we had to familiarize ourselves with the term. We knew that it was cancer and that people die from this disease and that it wasn't contagious but we still were scared that it might somehow jump from his to us. That is because we were ignorant to the disease. We didn't realize the toll that would have on his body or how he felt.
Researchers over centuries have been examining various cellular aspect of cancer as well as the knowledge of what separates a normal cell from a cancerous cell. The advancement of technology plays a large role in the research development of cancer. It is evident that there are different factors that contribute to the rapid growth of cancer cells. Lung Cancer is the number one death caused by cancer worldwide. I choose lung cancer because the main reason you get lung cancer not only affects you but the people around you. For example one of the main reason people get lung cancer is though smoking and tobacco use. The people who are around smokers are also affected by the smoke. Some have gotten lung cancer from second hand smoke. This is a very dangerous disease, but there are ways we can help prevent it.

If you go on time the doctors could remove the tumor on time to save your life, which will limit the cancer you have in your lungs. There is more than one way to stop this from spreading even more then what it is.
