Some people say teenagers can’t make a difference. Well there are plenty of examples that say otherwise. There are many teenagers around the world that have invented something to change the world for the better, whether it was inventing a weapon or commanding massive armies to win almost impossible battles. Many teenagers have helped to shape the world some more than others, but there are some who did things that most adults couldn’t do.
One teenager who made a difference was Samuel Colt; he was born in Connecticut in the year 1814 on July 19. He got his inspiration to make the revolver when he was on a boat and the ship’s wheel intrigued him, mostly that it could alternately spin or be locked in a fixed position with the use of a clutch. Samuel Colt invented a revolver that could be fired multiple times before having to reload it. Then in the year 1846 during the Mexican War, the US government ordered 1,000 revolvers from Samuel Colt. With his growing business, he had to up his production, so in the year 1855 Colt opened the world’s largest private armament factory. With his production line filled with skilled workers, he could produce 150 guns in one day. Samuel Colt created this revolver that is used today when he was 16 years old (Samuel Colt). Without the colt revolver who knows if we would of won all the wars we have won so this just shows that teens can make a difference. Another young boy that changed history forever was Alexander the Great.
Alexander the Great was one of the world’s best commanders at the age of 18. Although he didn’t become king till the age of 20, he still led his comrades through many great victories. When he inherited his army from his father Philip, who was murd...

... Although not all teenagers have a positive effect on the world, a majority of them have. You don’t have to invent a weapon or even lead an army to victory to make a difference. So therefore there is proof that teenagers can make a difference. All teens have the power to change the world, but some just don't know how to use it.

In the countries who believed Alexander was the son of the devil or the devil himself, will say he is not ‘great’ but a demon who did evil. The countries who were on his side would say he was the greatest conqueror to live. He began as a Macedonian cavalry commander at eighteen, king of Macedonia at twenty, conqueror of Persia at twenty-six and explorer of India at thirty [Foner and Garraty]. The amount of large scale accomplishments he managed to finish in a span of six years is astonishing. Alexander’s tomb was the largest tourist attraction in the ancient world. The tomb was even visited by Julius Caesar, Pompey, Caligula, and Augustus. Alexander the Great’s accomplishments set a bar in which provided a standard that all other leaders would match their careers too. Many leaders after Alexander could not reach the standard left by him [Foner and

Teenagers play an important role in society since they are old enough to have their own opinions but aren’t regarded by adults to have opinions worth sharing. Song highlights many important ideas like teenagers have a lot to do with worldwide issues such as gun control and LGBT rights. “Like adults, teens deserve to speak and to have the opportunity to be heard, and we deserve the respect that any other adult would expect. We shouldn’t be counted out just for our age when many of us are mature beyond our years. We shouldn’t be belittled or disregarded for having the audacity to believe we can make a difference.(“Why More Adults Need to Value Teenage Voices by Isabel Song)” Song believes that not all teenagers should be stereotyped as lazy, selfish, and arrogant because their voices should be counted in society. If adults keep on neglecting on teenagers, they won’t see the amazing things that teenagers are doing right now for the

As a teen I see the world as an opportunity to better myself mentally, physically and morally. The best part about being a teen today is that there are so many opportunities to take advantage of like getting a job or joining a program that betters you mentally like the University of Maryland’s Young Scholars Program. Or going out of your way to play a sport that you never played before. Today teens have way more opportunities than their older generation counterparts. We have the ability to communicate through multiple means like Facebook, text, face to face, and much more. Teens today have more privileges than previous generations which makes life a little easier, however still must tolerate similar rites of passage like finding a first job and buying a first car which is always fun. As you get older you start to comprehend the additional responsibilities you have gained throughout the
The first matter to consider is what constitutes “greatness”. There are no set standards no checklist, to apply to a person, to determine it they are “great.” The simplest way that I could conceive to decide whether this title should apply to Alexander was to determine if he was, in some way, superior to the rulers that came before or after his reign. The most obvious place for me to start my consideration is with Alexander’s vast accomplishments as a conquerer.
One example would be e-voting. Voting from cell phones, at home, work, or school, could potentially help. People wouldn’t have to waste their time at a polling location and could vote whenever from the electronic device. Politicians could also bring the political issues straight to the teenagers. They could bring a political debate to a gym or classroom by arguing with a candidate or discussing current issues with the teens. They could also discuss issues that impact teenagers which could potentially lead to teenagers voting to let their voices be heard. The current presidential election for 2016 is a great example of how politics, like Donald Trump, are speaking out and causing media to cover the early stages of the election. Teachers, parents, and other important adults in our lives, could use this as a building point to bring teenagers into the election. If they would succeed in bring teenagers into the election and encourage them to vote next year, this would truly help our
A big question asked amongst people sometimes is “Can a teenager make a difference, and if they do is it positive?” a lot of people just brush it off sometimes and think that because they’re young and don’t have the same experience as some older people, they are bound to make mistakes. This is not always the case, as some teens can make a difference, whether it be in large scale that affects the world or in a smaller scale affecting the community or society. There are a couple kids that have make a difference, although some of the things they have done might be greater compared to others, they still have made a difference in where they live and the people in their communities.
Have you ever wondered why Alexander from Macedonia is called Alexander the Great. According to history, it is because he is the most glorious general in the history who conquered Persia, Greece, Egypt and Babylon in a very inexperienced age. He became the commander of Macedonian armies at age eighteen and the king of Macedonia at age twenty. After six years of preparation, he conquered the great Persian empire. Unfortunately, he died at age thirty-three. He would have conquered many lands if he hadn’t died at a such young age. He was a legend and an icon for great kings like Charlemagne, Julius Caesar, and Pompey. World’s most famous generals tried to compete with him but they couldn’t accomplish. After years, his tomb
