To begin, the greatest accomplishment in my life to date would be when I got accepted into the Accounting and Finance program. Throughout high school, one of the few courses that I really enjoyed would be Accounting, as the concepts were things that I really enjoyed. This later influenced me to pursue to apply for a great accounting program that will help make my dream of becoming a CPA a reality. To meet the goal of getting into a world-renowned program, I knew that I had to put in 101% of hard work, dedication, and more to achieve this. Throughout my grade 12, I began to struggle mentally as I was providing my hardest effort in all my 4 courses each semester, which forced me to lose sleep and other ways to regain energy to be successful.
I want to be a Bank of America Student Leader because I wish to be able to experience new opportunities for volunteering and interact with others who shares the same interests. This opportunity would also allow me to learn more about leadership skills so that I will be a better leader in the future to make improvements for the community. Even though I lack many traits, I am willing to learn from criticisms and I am open minded to others’ opinions. Born talented or not, I believe that the desire to learn is the most important characteristic that a person can possess and I am willing to learn from this opportunity if I am lucky enough to receive it. Being a Vietnamese immigrant who is living in a large Vietnamese community in Garden Grove, I
This was mainly a result of experiencing sudden freedom, going from a nurturing private school environment to a college environment. I had to adapt to the situation and although at the time I maybe didn’t do as well in the first year, I have grown as an individual and improved my focus and determination within the second year. I now set myself weekly targets and pride myself in doing my work to a very high standard. I also set myself personal targets and enjoy going to the gym daily which has helped me maintain a positive mental attitude.
It was a shock. The pediatric psychiatrist diagnosed me with a novel maladaptive behavior syndrome known as attention deficit disorder (ADD). My condition has notably hindered my ability to concentrate, organize, and execute both in the classroom and within social spheres. However, I have tried to meet the challenges posed by this mysterious syndrome through a number of approaches. Although they have been arduous, I have improved my control over the consequences of this disorder.
Life is a journey paved with colorful experiences. Mine have lead me on a path to helping others. Continuing my education in a subject that I find fascinating has brought me incredible fulfilment. My goal is to complete The Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program.
During my early education, meaning elementary school and middle school, I was a very average student. I gave an average amount of effort to my grades, and I received above average results. This did not bother me, until the end of my 8th-grade year. At this point in the year, I was filling out what classes I desired to take the following year, my freshman year. I realized that from this point forward, I had to take my education much more serious, in order to get accepted to whichever college I desired. therefore, when planning my classes, I decided to challenge myself more than I ever have in the past, and take multiple honors courses. I assumed because of my grades, that I had what it took to be an honors-level student, but I was very wrong. One teacher, Mrs. Johnson, made me realize the kind of effort, time and energy needed to be devoted to my education.
The third part is my mental health. In the past, my academic struggles were strongly affected by my inability to cope with multiple unfortunate life events that occurred over the past couple of years. Indeed, I am well aware that personal hardships do not justify my poor academic performance, but during this period, I found it difficult to focus on my school work because I was so overwhelmed with the person problems I was facing. However, I eventually found a way to turn my problems into my motivation. Specifically, during the final days of my grandmother’s life, I saw how a bad nurse would treat her. Since then, I realized that I would never allow any family member to go through that kind of treatment. That was my key motivation for continuing my education. Also, I worked hard to get a seat in the College of Nursing. I also made sacrifices in my family and social life to study, which included missing social events and hardly going home to Saskatoon to see my family because I chose to study on the weekends instead. Ultimately, my dedication and commitment paid off since I got a
Growing up I knew I wanted to help people but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to pursue that. I obtained my certification in nursing assistant and started working in nursing homes, helping people with daily activities. Being a CNA brought joy to my life, knowing that helping the patients with daily activities made their life easier. Even sitting down to talking to the patients made them feel not so lonely with their families couldn’t be there. Countless life lessons were learned while working as a CNA and working on my father’s farm. I was taught the importance of working hard, being honest, being grateful for what I had and taking the time to help others. Moving to Arizona and working as a CNA in a behavioral unit had taught me how to interact

Many of my goals have been met through my hard work and dedication through my mother's constant pressure to do well in school. To give a clear example of what I mean, there was the time that I got Principal's Honor Roll. In order to get Principal’s Honor Roll I had to work very hard and maintain a G.P.A of 4.0 or above with no U’s or fails. Many times, I had to sacrifice going to parties, hanging out with friends to do my homework just to study for a test. Many times, I had to stay up very late to finish an assignment or study. My hard work allowed me to meet my goal of getting Honor Roll. If I didn’t work hard and dedicated myself into pursuing to get Principal’s Honor Roll I would have probably never got it. This has impacted me in a very positive way because I know that in order to obtain what I want I have to work hard, dedicate myself, and commit myself to that goal. My grades are another great example of my hard work and dedication. If I didn’t work hard to obtain all A’s , I would have probably never have got a 4.0 G.P.A. in my report card and would not get the Principal’s Honor Roll award. My dedication to succeed in life has made me into the person that I am

Having taken StrengthsQuest last year, I learned that I strive for the future, I’m often positive, and I’m a believer in harmony. I believe in consistency, the idea that all people should

Two years ago, I was writing my letter of intent for my application to the Master of Public Administration (MPA) with a concentration in Healthcare Administration revealing my failures, and most significantly, that I lost my passion and didn’t know where to start. Little did I know, examining PA theories would enable me to connect the final dots in the big picture of my life, where I came from, who I’d come to be, what choices I’d made, the relationships I nurtured, and my dreams and desires for the future. Although confidence came slowly and awkwardly, I discovered my desire to contribute to the advancement of public health policies. I am writing to express my interest in continuing to the Doctoral program in the School of Public Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
