Brenda Kramer EDCI 548 Mgmt. of Info. / Resources CD Policy Critique p.1 I was torn between writing my own CD Policy, or critiquing my school districts current policy. Then I realized this assignment is one that everyone of us should do in any district we are employed in, or should become employed in. It is our standards of operations to support us in the aspects of the job that we perform. If we learn that our district does not have a CD Policy then we will need to be able to write one, and very good one based on what we have learned from the other CD policies we have worked with in, or pulled out the most effective policies we have studied and written ourselves. I remember when my districts CD policy was placed in front of my eyes. …show more content…
It allows for the development of a school library media centers collection, maintain it, utilize it, and discard it. The policies should be written considering and based on the school’s demographics, student demographics, cultural relevance, community, curriculum, and teaching styles, in addition to providing material to meet students research needs and enjoyment of reading. The policy must be both adopted by and adhere to all School Board Rules. As well as a SLMIS that provides and creates a welcoming environment for both students, teachers, and all staff …show more content…
It is so intense in its length and in-depth complexity that a person could start to read it and just put it down before finishing it because of the way it has been written. It truly does meet all of the requirements of an effective CD Policy, but it is not user friendly, or should I say inviting to a reader to read. I read the CD Policy of a school in Tennessee and it was so clear, easy to understand and met all of the requirements of a thorough CD policy. All I could think was why can’t my distracts CD Policy be written in the
The superintendent and principal are stymied in their efforts to reach a compromise as Mrs. Durnitz refuses to change her position that the policy must be followed to the letter. Policies are clear, simple statements of belief, presented as a document and procedures describe how each policy will be put into action within an organisation. Safeguarding procedures in schools state how to work in a specific way, in order to protect children and look after their welfare. They are developed following guidance from the Local Safeguarding Children Boards and should promote multi-agency working, in line with Government Safeguarding Legislation. Schools will include policies and procedures for admissions and visitors, health and safety, intimate care, safeguarding, information sharing and confidentiality and empowering children and young

Violence is an act that can affect everyone around them, mentally, verbally, and physically. In House of the Spirits, by Isabel Allende, she explores the concept of violence being destructive in Esteban’s actions, politics, and relationships, illustrating the need for healing. In the house of Tres Marias, one of the prominent forms of violence can be seen as domestic violence, shown in a specific character, Esteban Trueba, being depicted as physically and emotionally abusive towards his wife, Clara, his daughter, Blanca, and Pancha. His violent outbursts create fear and tension in the household.
In conclusion, America provides many ways to help reduce the cost of college textbooks but society is still not satisfied with the outcome. The Open Textbook, Affordable Textbook Act, and book store rentals are wonderful programs, but has its disadvantages that hopefully would be resolved in the 2016 presidential elections. The statistics show that many students across the nation benefit from learning with quality of teaching, the amount of accessibility it provides without having to worry about paying off student loans. School administrations should consider about transferring to an act that would benefit both the school and the students, but also provide more equality to the publishers and students.

In my role as the school librarian I have access to every student and teacher in the building. I try to reach all of these people through creative and relevant library-based programs. I want the library to invite all users through its doors. I entice the I don’t like to read with great technology and computer resources. For the students who can’t get enough of the latest Manga book I am willing to stop at the bookstore and pick up the newest entry in that series. Regarding teachers, I am all about perfecting the collaborative effort to meet student learning. I have established a climate of respect. Respect for the learner, the teacher and the content material. Students genuinely like the library and my hope is that they will continue to use libraries as adults and they will be strong advocates for schools and libraries.
Because members of school administration are entrusted with the management of public funds, administrators must act ethically and with integrity to ensure school funds are utilized responsibly and that policies that affect the district’s financial integrity are closely examined. Therefore, policies, such as approval of expenditures and payroll, finance and goal setting, and the preparation of the budget, that directly impact the financial integrity of a school district should be carefully
