As we all know, Australia imports many products and sells them to many customers daily. We have all purchased a product from overseas and use them every day. In this letter I will be out lining some of the reasons why we should purchase Australian made products. I will also be explaining some of the common issues associated with buying Australian made goods.
Firstly, Australian farmers, fishermen and manufactures are renowned for having some of the best goods in the world and if we buy their goods, we will be encouraging local jobs and our Australian economy, but also be receiving great quality merchandise and produce.
Further more all Australian goods and services have been produced or grown in Australia to meet high Australian standards,

These berries were brought into Australia from Shandong province, which has a host of pollution problems. The capital Jinan is in the top 10 of China’s smoggiest cities. People have been known to excrete into the river, causing many problems in the city. Of course Australians would not know about this.
I think we need to label un-Australian made products and state which country they are from. Just like Australian made products have the small green kangaroo in the bottom corner. Australian made products ensure that the products are safe, fresh and made to Australia’s high standards.
Because Australia is a fairly small economy and it supports local jobs it keeps the money flowing in Australia. All buying Australian made products can do, it increase jobs, the economy and help keep Australia moving forward.
If you have any problems with the product you can call the customer service and they will be happy to help. If the product or service has been bought overseas then it could take weeks to sort out your issue. Local businesses also offer the face-to-face solution, which foreign importers cannot propose. This can give buyers much more confidence, as they know that if they have a problem, it can be easily

It is import that a country grows enough food to feed its self. Australia grows more food than it needs, which is good. What Australia needs to do, is invest in high tech, design and fashion. All these jobs need skill and require actual brainpower. Instead of paying someone twenty dollars an hour to stick a label on a coat hanger. This can be done overseas for a much cheaper price.
Common sense directs people towards a cheaper price. The retail price for a Nike shoe is $160-$180. It will cost around $10-$15 to actually make, paying the workers around 10 cents. Now if these shoes were made in Australia, they would have to pay all workers $20. No matter how little the job. This would drive the cost of the shoe drastically upwards. This would mean that Nike could go out of business. It is the same for any other multinational business. Adidas, Puma, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger. This could affect shopping centres, chains and Australia as a whole.
Buying Australian made products will also avoid the tariff or tax. This sum of money will go into the final cost of the product, which will raise the price. With Australian products, this will not be a problem, as they are made in Australia and purchased in Australia. Doing

Australia’s resources otherwise known as factors of production – natural resources, labour, capital and enterprise, are relatively scarce, resulting in the economic problem of relative scarcity as we cannot satisfy all our needs and wants in Australia as they are unlimited. Collective and individual wants are
Have you ever thought about those little words in fine print that tell you where a product was made? How about the last time you put tires on your car? Before you made a decision on the purchase did you stop and ask where the tires are made? Probably not! You heard the only words you wanted to hear....good and cheap! When did we stop caring about where a product is made or did we ever? Why would this matter anyway and what importance is of it? Some may argue that free trade and imports give us purchasing power. They believe cheaper goods results in more money in our pocket to buy other goods. That theory is a farce with little to no data to support it. Buying American made supports job growth, the environment and human rights. The impact on us, our children and the future of America is greatly impacted on our purchasing decisions.
Australians pride themselves as hard-working, humourous and jovial people, who love the outdoors and good food. But in recent times we notice that Australians, are not being ‘Australian’ enough. Gone are the days where men wore rabbit-fur and trusty leather work-shoes. New York Yankees caps worn backwards and polished white Adidas Superstar sneakers coupled with denims worn below the hips instead have replaced these. Ten years ago, the mentioned situation could only exist in the United States of America. Today we see it happening in almost all major cities and suburbs in Australia (Mengel 2001, pers. comm., 11 Aug)
The factories around the world (China, Asia, and Vietnam) assist in manufacturing and distribution of the products. (Mahdi et al., 2015). Nike, as many other companies do, facilitates production in other countries to help grow sales in those particular regions. The main difference between Nike and some of the other companies is that other companies do not support the exploitation of labourers or human rights. Not to suggest that Nike promotes labour exploitation, but they are less strict about these rules than other companies in foreign markets. Impacts on health and safety are a major factor for employees in sweatshops. However, physical and sexual abuse is another serious concern of many of the sweatshop workers. Most of the sweatshops run by Nike contractors are factories located in relatively small spaces to save on real estate costs. They are often soiled with dirt and kept unheated to save on expenses. Broken glass and dangerous equipment is left on the floors causing potential dangers to any people scattered within the factory. Employees are subject to harassment and violent punishments if work is not being completed as thoroughly and efficiently as the contractors would like. Workers slave under unfavourable conditions for up to 14-hour days often with no breaks. These employees are paid less than $100 US and work on average over 250 hours per month. "Substandard wages keep factory workers in poverty and force them to work excessi...

It has more than 900 factories which are located in an estimated 50 countries, they also have more than 660 000 workers which most of them are women. However, although they have a lot of factories around the world, their main manufacture factories are located in China, Indonesia, and Vietnam which are basically countries with the most minimum salaries rate given to the workers. Nike chooses these locations for their production of their merchandise because of the cheap ...

When it comes to wool one imagines idyllic surroundings and sheep who naturally shed their coats or need haircuts to keep cool during hot summer months, and one may believe sheep live this life until the final breath, but ones imagination is far from the truth. Even though wool is a multimillion dollar a year industry, due to the welfare of the animals that unwillingly have to participate this industry should be shut down. Lyn White, campaign director for Animals Australia states “Australian wool producers are striving to produce ultra-fine wool to supply the demand from elite fashion houses both in Australia and overseas. Each year, leading Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna presents the prestigious ultra-fine wool industry trophy -- the Vellus Aureum Trophy -- awarded for the finest micron fleece.
