Business and Technical Writing is a course that has taught me a lot about the technicalities of writing in the workplace. Documents must contain a specific format and use a professional tone. I was able to learn about my own professional writing skills and how to improve them.
Strengths and Weaknesses
By writing multiple memos and assignments this semester, I was able to grow accustomed to the strengths and weaknesses of my writing. Some of these I realized on my own but others were realized through the comments of others.
Strengths
One of my strong writing skills is my ability to complete all parts of the assignment. To ensure that I have not missed any requirements, I create an outline for all of my assignments. By writing all of the sections of a paper down in a place other than the assignment sheet, I am able to see what I need to include. From there, I complete sections on every topic before I begin writing so I

As an A student it was a bit of a shock to me. After reading the comments on my paper I realized what I should have done differently; I needed to discuss the responses provided by my contacts rather than simply recite their answers. If I were to redo this paper I would make sure that I included much more of an analysis than I had the first time. Additionally, I would compare and contrast the book’s guidelines for writing in the business world to what my contacts use as guidelines.
Assignments to Keep
One assignment that I would suggest is kept in the course is the recipe assignment. Although it was short, I found it was an effective way to learn about writing instructions. Because we were required to learn about writing instructions before we could begin the assignment. For example, I had been previously unaware that it is important to begin each step with an action verb. Although it is an easy assignment to complete, I found it was very informative.

Over my career of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my main weaknesses and strengths that I should work on with my writing. My biggest weakness is writing introductions and conclusions they must be so complicated and require so much thought to be defined as good. I excel at writing body paragraphs and explaining all the facts that back up your main ideas though.
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
The first thing I do when I have to write a paper is I try to determine what exactly the prompt is asking me to write about. This might seem obvious but, on occasion, I might misread or simply misunderstand a prompt which could result in writing a completely different paper than what was asked of me. Once I completely understand what is asked of me, I start to think about what I already know about the topic and what I need to know in order to write my paper. I then start my research on the topic and start taking notes on what I will need to incorporate into my paper.
Writing can be a very difficult process for those who do not know how to go about constructing
Two strengths of mine throughout the first-quarter were being able to present information in front of a group of people, and coming up with good ideas for my essays. First I believe that one of my strengths are being able to go on the front of many people and fluently have information expressed. Evidence of this is when we did the multiple socratic seminars. I exceeded when doing
Another one of my strengths as a writer and a student is my determination to complete every assignment to the best of my ability. I have never been the type of student that does not get her work done, whether it be an essay for English or a workbook page for Geometry. I work diligently in all my classes and aim to learn as much as I can from every assignment. Since English is not my best subject, I work twice as hard to improve every day and bring out the best writer in me. My determination is what drove me to enhance my weaknesses and polish my strengths.
A technique I find more contributive is brainstorming. When I have found my topic but cannot seem to figure out what to write about it, I brainstorm. Brainstorming is where you have a topic and you write down everything you know that applies to that topic. For instance, if my topic is an author of southern literature, I would write their name in the center of a page and write ideas based on that. By brainstorming about the author, I can visually see the connections being made to my topic. After all my ideas have been put into words, it may be unorderly and unsightly. My writing will need to be
Strengths and weaknesses are possessed amongst all people, but only the most significant ones stick out the most. My biggest strength as a writer is my ability to learn from mistakes and capitalize on them. I have made many mistakes in my writing, but as this semester went on I ended up actually learning from mistakes. What also really helped me was that my essays were all graded so specifically to where I could know exactly what I did wrong. From scoring a poor grade of sixty-one on my first essay, “Nuclear Detriments: Screw Nuclear Power” to improving to a ninety-five on my last essay, “Crisis in South Korea” reflects a direct correlation in my ability to learn and fix the mistakes that I make. Although I didn’t do amazing throughout the sem...
One strength I had was the organization of the essay. My sentences I wrote were not all over the place each paragraph talks about one topic. One weakness I had with writing this essay was my writing style. I noticed that in this essay my writing style was a bit choppy. I should have read my essay out loud to see if it had a good flow between my ideas.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
This semester I learned many new things in my English 1301 class. I took this class last year but I had to drop it because I didn’t have a professor explaining the work to me. And I really didn’t understand what I was doing. At first, I was scared to take this class. During my high school years I wasn’t that good of a writer. I thought this composition class was going to be hard since I sometimes thought it was hard in high school. My writing experience was good and sometimes bad. This semester in the composition class I had many writing strengths and weaknesses. These strengths and weaknesses is what helped me learn the errors I was making while writing essays this semester.
My strengths as a writer are that my papers are very well developed, they have always been graded and ranged from a high B to an A. I always meet the requirement, but I don't add as much detail as I should. I have a good style and organization. I always make sure to keep my papers in order. All of my papers have spelling errors but is not bad enough for the reader to get confused while reading. Readers can easily follow my papers with no struggles. I use a variety of simple and complex sentences to structure my papers. I do get quite a few comma splices, but never to many run-on sentences or fragments in my paper. My papers do have a good word choice that include imagery and figurative language. I don't use super strong verbs in my papers and I also have grammatical errors in my papers as well.
As a student, I feel that I have many writing weaknesses. I know that on my own, and because teachers have told me so. Some of the complications I face with writing is not using enough body paragraphs, forgetting a thesis statement, lack of word choice, punctuation errors, and etc. I am unaware at times of my mistakes, but I always try to correct them.
One skill that I wish I had time to improve on is citing sources in MLA style. Through the course, I refused to seek help from my professor until week seven, one thing I regret doing. that could have allayed the fear and doubt I had about this course. Any questions I had could be cleared up as the course progressed. My essays through the subsequent weeks have demonstrated my strength and weaknesses. I do not have many strengths when it comes writing, but still I consider my greatest strength in writing to be being able to clearly understand the prompt and answer it correctly, especially with the analysis essays. I think this is just because I spend most of the scarce time on hand just to think about the prompt, for example, when I was preparing for my rhetorical analysis essay on globalization I thoroughly read both article on globalization by both Kwame Anthony Appiah and franklin Foer .An obvious struggle I have as a writer is organization and transitions. I tend to jump from one topic to another and sometimes cover. I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs to make my reader understand the logic of my paper. I have not had enough writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. I do sometimes admit that it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I become a proficient
