Before taking this class I had little knowledge as to how business was conducted. I took some classes in high school about it but never could grasp how everything worked. One thing that really helped me is the discussion questions because I was able to connect with other classmates as to how the business world works and some great websites that I can use along the way in the future. Something that really surprised me during the discussion questions was the topic about the CPA and CMA exams. Another subject that I related to really well was the mission statements. This class in its entirety made me very excited about learning more about business and making a career out of it someday. Although I found myself never really disagreeing with the …show more content…
My job right now is a cashier at Taco Bell so when I saw what the mission statement was for them I was really impressed with it. Their mission statement is Taco Bell 's full mission statement is "We take pride in making the best Mexican style fast food providing fast, friendly, & accurate service. We are the employer of choice offering team members’ opportunities for growth, advancement, & rewarding careers in a fun, safe working environment. We are accountable for profitability in everything we do, providing our shareholders with value growth.”(Tacobell.com) When I saw this I was very happy to see that this is exactly what they teach us while training us to do the job. They say to do our job in a sense of urgency and make sure the customer always leaves satisfied. My favorite response to this question was by Ashley Hjelmstad where she said “Google’s mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” I think that this is really cool because the company they represent is really something special. Google is one of the most powerful companies in the world due to the length they sell their products and the fact they have so many inventions. Their company reaches no end with the technology from phones to computer software and apps for phones. This mission statement pretty much summarizes what they are all about,
I feel as though Dollar General Corporation has a fairly vague mission statement. It simply states “Serving others, For customers a better life, For shareholders a superior return, For employees respect and opportunity.” [missionstatements.com] However, as vague as it may be, it does address all of the concerns and priorities that they share in their “About Me” section of their website.
The biggest lesson I learn during this class is time management. I have a 9 month old baby and he allows wants my attention. I had to rely on a family member to take care of him while I get a few hours to read the textbook and do the writing assignments. I had to truly focus on my work and not go to social sites because I barely had time to do so.
With college right around the corner and taking a college course gave a real sense of how college classes are going to work giving me an edge over all of the other students going to college that didn’t take a dual enrollment course. Dual enrollment was honestly one of the best decisions I made in my academic career because like what I was saying this class taught me the inner workings of how most assignment are going to be turned in, what it means to be self-reliant/ on your own have no help with assignment from your parents, experiencing a course that only a handful of assignment rather than a ton of assignment ends up making up over eighty percent of your grade (getting you to work extra hard so you won’t fail) and finally that you have to actually interact with the professor/teacher if you need help or are having trouble with an
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
The mission statement of the company was “As we grow as a company, it has become more and more important to explicitly define the core values from which we develop our culture, our bran...
Ever since I started talking this class, English 1301, with Dr. Piercy, I have been able to expand my writing and thinking skills. Not only was I able to make more better essays but I also learned important topics such as how education creates an impact in the world. In this essay I will be talking about three writings and how they are related to this course semester. The three writings are “On Bullshit” by Harry Frankfurt, “Why I Write Bad” by Milo Beckman, and “Statement of Teaching Philosophy” by Stephen Booth. How are these 3 writings related to this semester’s course work?
Over the course of this class I have pieced together many things about my own life that before went unnoticed. I am now able to see things in a bit of a different light. Now that I have been introduced to the realm of psychology I understand some of the reasons for behavior around me. I have learned that there is a reason for most everything and a lot of our behaviors and mental processes can be explained through psychology. Studies have been conducted for many years to try and pinpoint the source of our behavior and it is not something that most people think about every day. Having a better understanding of why we operate the way we do will help me to better understand myself and the others around me.
Throughout this English 280 course I have learned many things about reading, writing, research, and critical thinking. I have also learned about what potentials I have as a writer and what I can improve when writing. In this process I had also encountered some difficulties when it came to writing. At the same time I also feel that the difficulties I encountered have made me improve from my first essay to my recent essay when it came to the genre, process of writing and the rhetorical language used when writing. Even though my progress was not at all constant I still was able to earned satisfactory grades and learn more with each assignment. I still feel that I need to improve my writing and reading because I will need to use it for future courses, life events and career.
Google’s mission statement is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” From the beginning, the company has focused on developing its proprietary algorithms to maximize effectiveness. Google continues to focus on ensuring that people access the information they need.
Even though I have made up my mind with what career I want to peruse next, I was very open to the idea to take the assessments. The assessments reinforced what I already knew about my interest, skill and strengths. Since business analyst can work in many different types of fields and organizations, I paid close attention to the career clusters, place the cards, and work importance locator to give me a general idea of what sector I should attempt to enter. The whole reasoning I want to be a business analyst is because it won’t set any career limitations. My skills, interest and strengths also compliment what is required to be a successful business analyst. I learned that I like to be social, work with others in a team atmosphere, however I do like my space as well. Essentially, I like
This summer’s course in ‘Business and Society’ was a great opportunity for me to learn more about myself, my perspective of business, the role of government in society, policy makers and most importantly the views of the stakeholders. For the spring semester gone and this summer session almost all classes were tied into my major, giving me a better understanding on what I want out of my degree. My major here at Marymount Manhattan College is Finance and this class has surely helped me in figuring out, the workings of ‘big business’ and its impact on stakeholders. This course has helped me understand why many laws, at one point to me sounded absurd, but are in place to protect both industry and stakeholder. I never thought communication was such a priority in the business world until taking this class. From newly learnt material I see communication as a
What I benefit from this course strategy management class is knowing. The strategic management is consisting of the analysis, decisions, and actions an organization undertakes to create and sustain competitive advantages. strategic management analyses. concern with overall objectives, involves multiple stakeholders, incorporates short and long term perspectives, recognizes tradeoffs between effectiveness and efficiency. The strategic management analysis, formulation, and implementation the challenge managers face of both aligning resources to take advantage of existing product markets as well as proactively exploring new opportunities.
This course has helped me in many ways, especially time management, health, and money. Instead of having a very relaxing week and then panicking at the end of the week when everything is due, this course has helped me to plan out my studies. Planning them out helps me produce higher quality work and assists me with my stress problem. One thing that has helped a lot is getting short easy assignments or parts of assignments done in short periods of extra time I have. For example, instead of turning on that TV, wait ten minutes and knock out an assignment. Another asset for myself has been setting dates to have assignments done. Although these assignments may not be due on that day, getting them done and out of the way, makes more time for other
I took this class because it aligns with other studies I have done. I have completed life coaching certificates and other psychology and mental classes. My expectations for this class are to learn what it means to educate and be educated. In life and business, I can see where understanding individual and/or group motivations can help show the bigger picture and give ideas on how to proceed.
My parents arrived in the United States hoping for a better future not for themselves, but for the baby they carried in their arms. We would often move from relatives ' houses since my parents couldn’t afford renting an apartment themselves. We were fortunate enough to have caring relatives who didn 't mind us living with them since they knew the hardships we were going through. I grew up in a household where only Spanish was spoken given that both my parents didn’t speak any English at all. When I was in kindergarten, my teacher was afraid that I would be behind the rest of my classmates, given that I only spoke Spanish fluently. I was fortunate to receive free tutoring from my kindergarten teacher. We would often read books together until
