I am a hardworking, highly sociable, ever determined, and high performer who is highly self-motivated in pursuing their career path. My personal qualities are shaped by every member of my family. For example, my father has proved to be a hard working person and a high performer after having successfully completed his undergraduate and post graduate programs and securing a highly paying job. He receives rewards and presents almost every time his bank holds an annual general meeting or an important event. My mother who is a nurse is equally successful and loves teamwork to ensure success at the hospital where she works. My brother, the only sibling I have, is a diligent practicing auditor after having completed an undergraduate degree at Monash University, Australia. I want to identify with my family to understand and appreciate the value of hard work, determination, teamwork, and self-motivation among other qualities.
I am talented in business management and leadership and have strong academic qualifications from my previous education levels. At middle school, I used to chair the meetings held by the Business Students Association where I learned numerous skills and tactics of managing a business and becoming a good business leader. My GPA is 3.83, which shows that I am a quick learner and a higher performer. Having worked in various groups in the volunteering jobs and during my internship, I have great abilities like socializing fast with colleagues and working well with members of my team.
My qualities and accomplishments make me extremely proud of myself and also define my personality. Business economics, the major that will lead me to a job that relates to business management and leadership, requires an individual who is hard ...

... them and less-fortunate people in the society. The unpaid jobs were organized for us by the Aloha Gamma Sigma, an organization for volunteer middle school graduates. After graduating from middle school, I served as an intern in one of the busiest banks in Macau, China, my home country.
My involvement in the Business Students Association, volunteer jobs, and internship gave me a lot of experience and skills, which are relevant to my intended major. In the Association, we used to discuss business leadership and management and how headship and managerial skills can be developed, nurtured, and enhanced in an individual. The internship I had at the bank also helped me acquire and develop more effective business skills. My membership at the Aloha Gamma Sigma helped me shape my business skills and develop good working relations with my colleagues at school and at work.
If I were to look at my family through the lenses of Bowen’s family system theory mentioned in The Genogram Journey: Reconnecting with your Family by Monica McGoldrick, most of the time we would not follow the listed “norms.” Mike is the oldest and Bowen suggests that he should be serious, the leader, and ambitious. Mike is none of these attributes. Mike is the smartest of the siblings. On the science portion of the ACT, he made a 32. The quality Mike is missing tends to fall towards self-motivation. He has worked in multiple fast food careers but ends up quitting when the job gets difficult. His mother, Christine, tends to bend to his every need while our father does not talk to him about adult responsibilities.
As a soon to be graduate at the University of Tennessee, I have a strong background in hospitality, and tourism management. As a hospitality and tourism management major, I developed very strong leadership qualities, including event coordinator for the University of Tennessee’s fundraising event, which raised $50,000 in student scholarship. I also held a sales and marketing internship, where I was able to gain hands on experience with negotiating contracts and driving hotel revenue. Also, while at this internship I was able to create a virtual reality-marketing tool
There were a number of enterprising careers, but the one that interested me the most was business management. I decided to choose the business management because I am majoring in Sustainability and my focus is in Economics. I think business management would be an excellent fit for myself because I have actually done some research prior to this class about management. I would like to someday own an ice rink, and I think that becoming a manager would be a great stepping-stone towards reaching my goal. The requirements for becoming a business manager vary from university to university, but the overall direction of the major revolves around taking 60 credit hours of business courses such as economics, finance, and marketing.
My family is like many others in that we have our problems and difficulties as well as our own unique strengths and abilities. Past generations and the environmental context have influenced each individual’s development and growth, mine included. Through a thorough assessment of my family’s characteristics and dynamics, I am better able to understand my own beliefs and behaviors. This concept can also be applied to the families I work with. Through increased self-awareness and understanding of my own history, I am better able to provide competent, effective services as a social worker.
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
What I discovered about myself, is that I have a personality type of a “protagonist”. The “Protagonist” basically describes myself adequately, as they find it easy to communicate with others, natural born leaders, and are full of charisma. All of those characteristics tie in to the type of skill and job that I soon want to be possessed in. That job and skill lies in the Marketing field. My attraction draws to this specific job because I am an outgoing person, persuasive, and use my creativity to the best of my ability. I have always questioned the things people do, such as “Why do people purchase they things they do?” and “What inspires and influence consumer purchase behaviors?”. All of this falls under Marketing, which plan programs to generate
I did remarkably well on all my accounting and economics courses. Which proves that i am able to progress and strive, even though I started late, I have motivation and courage to continue in the path I am in, and
I am currently majoring in Finance at Carlson School of Management, and I have decided to explore the career and future growth of a financial analyst. I chose to explore this career because some of my cousins work in this field and I’m interested in numbers and analysis. I also have an interest in following the stock market and working in a stimulating environment. What sets me apart from others is that I’m able to use time management efficiently. I’m able to study and complete major assignments while still finding plenty of time to socialize with others. Having taken StrengthsQuest last year, I learned that I strive for the future, I’m often positive, and I’m a believer in harmony. I believe in consistency, the idea that all people should
Additionally, building this strong brother-to-sister relationship of trust with my own sisters, leads my focus on the members of my family, who has influenced my character more fully than anyone else. My Dad especially is probably my greatest example of all times whose character and integrity really touched me in various ways I could ever imagine. I really admired the way he led our family with great wisdom and counsel which helped me in my hard and difficult times. I only got to spend nineteen years of my life time with him due to his passing away while I was on my mission.
For example, when I was in high school, I was a member of Beta Club, an organization where students volunteer for different service opportunities in the community. The group I was a part of would volunteer monthly at a local nursing home. We would meet and visit with the residents, play bingo with them, and help organize different events at the home. Another way I’ve been engaged is through participating in a service project called “Operation Christmas Child” with the organization Samaritan’s Purse. A couple of years ago, my mother and I travelled to their warehouse in Lawrenceville to help pack shoeboxes full of gifts and toys, that then get sent to children living outside the United States, in areas that have been affected by various unfortunate circumstances such as poverty, natural disasters, or war. As volunteers, we could also track the shipments and be notified that the children had received their shoeboxes. Being a part of this incredible project was an experience I will never forget. I consider myself very fortunate to have had these opportunities to volunteer, as they gave me a great sense of joy to be a part of and inspired me to continue to take part in further engagement opportunities in my community. Now attending the University of Georgia, I am a member of University Union, where we put on events to both entertain students and
Personality traits can be manifested as strengths or weaknesses depending on the situation, and personality tests can help individuals maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses within the organizational structure. Organizational behavior is critical to organizational effectiveness, and these tests can also point individuals toward certain careers or organizations that are good fits. Pearson Education’s MyManagementLab (2016) contains a series of personality tests and the following discussion analyzes the results of these tests as they apply to my personality and my career. The writing contains illustrations of my personality traits in action. The text also highlights areas of improvement that will enable me to be a better employee, co-worker,
My family is who I have socialized most with since they were the first ever people I interacted with. Family has had a large influence over who I am today because they are the people who I learned almost everything from (primary socialization). The reason I have such high morals and values is because of my family. By observing and taking from their behavior I was able to form my own values through nurture. Although they taught me a lot of beneficial things that make me a better person, I have also learned from some of my family members bad habits. My uncle always smoked around the kids, including myself, when I was younger and I never liked the smell and now I associate that memory with cigarettes and it makes me not have any desire to smoke whatsoever. I also had another uncle who went to jail a lot for selling drugs and other related things, and since I definitely did not want to end up in jail I now make smart decisions, and associate myself with people who benefit me. On the whole my family has made me a nobler person by both their good and bad
You spend a great time of your life with family who then influences your identity from the beginning of your life. From the beginning, we are given a set of expectations and values, which are learned from our guardians. We learn not only through these guardians guiding us, but we also learn by life’s examples and observing. As we grow older and mature we more easily understand the importance of values and know what is expected from us. And because we spend a lot of our lives around our family they are the primary influences to social identity, religion, confidence and many more. For example manners are usually taught in households at a young age by guardians, which influences identity positively. Family also influences good things like professionalism and confidence which will come in hand later on in
... have witnessed my family survive even the toughest situations, and still remain smiling as if nothing was wrong at all. I am the oldest sibling which means I have to set examples for not only my brothers and sisters, but also my peers who all look up to me in high school. I will no longer sit helplessly while my mother and father scrap up money for football equipment for my brother or school clothing for my twin siblings. My parents will be proud and happy and stress free after I am in my career. [polysyndeton] Even though my mother is a newly developed cancer patient and I am a type one diabetic, our diseases with not hinder my progress.
There are a lot of different cultures in the world we live in today. Finding the place you belong and discovering your own culture can be a challenge. This is especially true when you look at culture as an individual versus culture in your family, or even within your community. I’ve always been very family oriented, so that plays a big part in who I am and how my family’s dynamic works. I believe that my family has had a huge impact on the development of my culture, and I hope that I have had the same impact on theirs.
