Environment and Resources Paper
This paper will help show how some animals and plants can adapt to different environment. I will be discussing Iris plants and Raccoon that are in Tennessee environment. I will also be discussing the temperature and precipitation. Tennessee has mountains and grasslands and known to have some of the most beautiful forest. These are the biome of Tennessee that the Iris and Raccoon live in.
• Describe how your chosen plant has adapted to its current environment. The iris plant is known to be some very beautiful flowers. The iris plants come in different colors and they are known to be in the lower 48 states and can be found in

Alaska. The iris plant can adapt to the environment in a wide range of cultural conditions. They are best to be able to bloom when there is plenty of sunlight. The sunlight is a very important part of the iris plants growth.
Without the sunlight the iris plant would not be healthy and the beautiful colors they has will not show. Does the plant use photosynthesis? Yes iris plants uses photosynthesis, they provide food for the iris plants. Plants will use the process of photosynthesis, and this will only be done from leaves. The leaves can produce food and the nutrients for the plants. The leaves will die very slowly, when this happen they will turn to a yellow color and this would go back and supply nutrients to the rhizome. I think that by the plant dying it turns around and recycle again to help with the new growth. Does it compete with other plants? I have to say yes that the iris plants compete, just as anything else does. The iris plants is known to put a lot of energy when they are producing numerous, colorful flowers and very large in size. A single plant would so that they could stand out from other plants and able to attract pollinators. When this occurs other plants are blooming and they all are competing for pollinators. The iris plants need space so that it can grow, so that is a form of competing. How does the plant adjust to temperature extremes? The iris plants are known that there is not any other species can grow in a wide range of …show more content…
geographical areas. Just as anything else they would have to adjust and adapt to heat and the dry days. With any plant making sure that there is the right type of soil so that it could hold moist for the plants. But when the weather is very dry the soil must not be too moist. Hot temperature is bad for plants just as well for animals. Describe specifically how the plant has adapted. The iris plant had adapted because they continue to grow each you. They can survive from the cold temperature to the hot temperature. I think when we see the many different color iris plants each year that show us that they can survive and are able to adapt. Anything that has organisms such as any type of plants can get specific environmental, which has an internal signals. This will help to enhance the survival and help to reproduce the plants. Plants has a cellular that can help them to know when the environment around them about to change. • Describe how your chosen animal has adapted to its current environment. Raccoons are animals that can adapt too many different environments. They inhabit in wetlands, and in forests. Raccoons are accustomed to the presence of other animals. Raccoon's are known to very intelligent animals. They are highly adaptable mammals so that way they are able to adjust to different environments. As we continue to destroy the wildlife, this will take away raccoon’s habitat and they will get closer to humans contacts. How does it obtain food? Raccoon can get food just about anywhere and they are known to eat everything. They will eat animal matter things like crayfish, fish arthropods, amphibians, reptiles in the spring. They will eat acorns and other nuts in the summer. In the winter they will live from the fat that is stored and small rodents. Raccoons are known to eat garbage that we tend to leave outside and they will eat your cat or dog food that is left out for them. How does the animal compensate for temperature extremes? Raccoon's will look for shelter so that they can get away from the cold weather. Raccoon have to adapt to the environment and the changes of the seasons. They will prepare in the fall, they will start to build a nest so that they will have better shelter. Describe specifically how the animal has adapted. Raccoons are able to adapt because they are very smart animals. Raccoon usually are found in wooded areas and can be found in forests. Today with all of the destroying of tree and wooded areas to build on, this has made raccoon's to adapt to living in mountainous and wetter habitats. • Briefly describe the new biome, including temperature and precipitation averages. I will be transporting the iris plants and raccoon to Florida. Florida is known to be a very wetland biome, and is to be one of the largest biomes on Earth. When there are wetland biomes; it is wet and humid there. Humid and wet is a good place for plants and animals species to habitat. Describe how your chosen plant will have to adapt to its new environment. In my opinion the iris plant will adapt in the Florida well. Florida is about 20 percent larger than other areas and it also is on the coastline and is 10 times long, it is home to swamps, slews, lakes and rivers. Iris plants need these to be able to adapt to any new environment. What will be the biggest threats to its survival? I think that if the iris plants get to much water it could cause a threat, because they might be over watered and will not be able to grow. I think because of the environment and with all of the other plants and species they could crowd each other out and this could stop them from growing. What trade-offs would you expect as a result of the new adaptations? I think that the biggest trade would be because of the environment we would see more beautiful flower and healthy flowers. In my opinion because Florida temperature is better than the temperature in Tennessee that would make the flower adapt to a richer soil and environment. • Describe how your chosen animal will have to adapt to its new environment.
In my opinion because raccoons are known to be found in wetlands they would be able to adapt well in Florida. Florida is known to have water which is from rivers, swamps and this is where raccoons are able to feed from. According to "Edis" (2015), raccoons are found statewide in Florida in ever increasing number. Raccoon’s population increases because of urbanization and agriculture. This is because of there is more food for them to eat. Identify the primary challenges the animal will face. I think that they would have some challenges because of the population would increase. They would fight for more food and space. What will be the biggest threats to its survival? One threat would be because of the area that they are in; they would come in contact with much larger animals like alligators. Alligators are known to prey on raccoons and will eat them. What trade-offs would you expect as a result of the new adaptations? The trade of for the raccoons being in Florida would be that they are able to grow larger because of the much more food supply there. I think that if they have more food and close to wetland they would have less contact with humans.
Conclusion
Iris plants are very beautiful and they are able to survive in different environments. They need sunlight to help with the growth and the leaves when they fall that they would recycle
and bloom again. The raccoon are animals that I would say that they can survive in just about any environment. I found out that some people try to make raccoons out of house pets. The more water that raccoons are around would be better for them. on either s References Plant Responses to Internal and External Signals. (2015). Many variations and species of plants can be found all around the world and in different habitats. These variations and characteristics are due to their adaptations to the natural habitat surrounding them. In three of many climatic zones, the arid, tropical and temperate zone, plants that vary greatly from each other are found in these locations. In this experiment, we’ll be observing the connection between the adaptations of the plants to their environment at the Fullerton Arboretum. The arboretum is a space containing numerous plants from different environments. The plants are carefully looked after and organized into their specific habitat. Therefore, we’ll be able to take a look at the plants within multiple

The Arboretum, as these gardens are designated, is much frequented, and has already produced a perceptible effect in improving the appearance and demeanour of the working class.
...e if she attends the ball, and the burdens that will be overpowered if she is chosen to live her life with the Prince; a life that only beauty could bring, something Iris doesn’t hold, and although a person may only have beauty as a strength, there is always a darker weakness preventing them from exploring the disfigured world that surrounds them.

Even though Iris has an exceptional side of her personality such as being determined and giving, she also has poor qualities. She demonstrates an exceptional personality due to the fact that she is giving and is willing to legitimately sell herself for her father. But, Iris also demonstrates poor qualities such as being blunt, when she carelessly says things about her sister. In many passages, she writes that she is tired of caring for her sister before and after her mother’s death. “I was tired of keeping an eye on Laura, who didn’t appreciate it. I was tired of being held accountable for her lapses, her failures to comply.” This statement proves that she is self –centered and tired of carrying her sister on her
The climate of the tundra is characterized by harsh winters. The average temperature in the tundra area is about –27 degrees. But what is even worse are the long night. At nights the lowest temperture recorded was –67.36 degrees. There are even times in the year when the sun doesn’t come up for days. In the tundra we have little snow and even less rainfall. The rainfall is about a quarter inch in a yearly rainfall. Even though the tundra’s winters are long a harsh there summers are the shortest season of all. Do to the terrible weather and climate in the tundra their animals and plant life is very limited.
One interesting aspect of the song is its initial country gospel sound. If one were to not listen to the lyrics carefully, he or she might actually mistake it for Christian music. I believe that is what makes the subtle message so powerful; it’s almost unexpected by the viewer. Based on phrases like, “no one knows for certain” and “let the mystery be,” it’s clear that Iris is conveying an agnostic viewpoint. There were also a few parts that Iris was displaying skepticism through the extremity of the idea. For example, she says that some people will reincarnate as carrots or sweet peas. This phrase displays the contrast of different perspectives and how this drastic difference makes it hard for her to believe any idea. Interestingly, Iris was raised a Christian, but I think that some of her statements like, “I’ve heard I’m on a road to purgatory, and I don’t like the sound of that,” show her opposition to the judgments she’s received about her actions throughout her life. Overall, the tune does an excellent job at conveying Iris’s contentment with religious uncertainty and skepticism of those who claim to know the
The substance that absorbs sunlight is chlorophyll, which is mainly contained in chloroplasts. This energy is used to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) and water into sugars. This conversion creates the waste product oxygen, which is used by humans for breathing. Without being able to photosynthesise plants will stop growing and die. In a plant growing in the dark the chlorophyll will slowly be destroyed causing them to use their food reserves.
The Wild Iris by Louise Gluck is an enjoyable read and the collection functions to state the author’s beliefs in religion and the incorporation of nature. The overall collection gives you the sense of a philosophical view of life and death by relating it to the nature implications of her poems. Louise Gluck create emotional responses with her elements of her theme, her stance on religion and life, meaning, senses, and etc.
The reason light intensity is being used compared to whether or not a plant needs light. It is because The experiment wants to show that the rates of photosynthesis will vary according to how much light from a light bulb will be trapped in. the chloroplasts, in the leaf. The more energy trapped the more efficient a chemical reaction can take place and the speed of photosynthesis will increase. There are many things which can affect the photosynthesis of a plant such as light intensity, temperature and carbon dioxide levels.
As the following report demonstrates, some species are adapting to climate changes while many others are not. In some cases, laboratory experiments have lead to the conclusion that certain species can or cannot adapt and evolve. This research is not sufficient to make definitive statements regarding what will happen to species if temperatures and sea levels continue to rise.
...for more accurate predictions of how species will evolve and whether or not certain species will survive and what adaptations could promote or inhibit that process. There are different methods of adaptation available for animals and plants to employ in nature. Thus, exploring adaptations during our lectures would grant us better insight into what caused certain things to demonstrate specific adaptations and would aid in the explanation and expansion of convergent evolution.
Morphological adaptation is a structural feature that enhances the adjustment of organisims to their particular environment and enables better performance for survival purposes. Various structural features influence living systems adaptation, among which are size, form, colour and pattern. The special form of stem, sma and thin leaves, and extensive root system, are a good example for morphological adaptation among desert plants (Figure 2.5). Such stems allow for water storage and self-shading ability, small leaves reduce water loss while the extensive root system
A typical cactus belongs to the succulent and moist plant family known as Cactaceae. Cactus contains more than 2000 varieties which develop in different shapes and sizes. We can plant these cacti in our house because some varieties of cacti can require little amount of daylight. These plants blossom in warm and sunny climates also. There are certain varieties of cacti which produce seasonal flowers when conditions are favourable. In some circumstances their flowers also come in various colours, shapes and sizes.
