The corporation can use its name as its strong base to attract the attention of new customers as well as to make certain that it is holding on to the old ones. Furthermore, economy of scale plays a significant role in this industry. Travelodge has a higher profitability aspect than the single operations (Wilkinson, 2013). If a new competition enters the market, they will find it difficult to compete with Travelodge as setting a proper quality and price regarding the economies of scale takes time. The main reason behind using value chain will be that it will allow the organisation to judge the areas that require more focus and should be used as a profitable means. Primary Activities Inbound Logistics Travelodge makes certain that it is utilising the right type of components which will be delivered to the correct manufacturing target at the appropriate time (Antràs, & Chor, 2013). Furthermore, the management should appoint the right supplier so that they are able to adjust with the terms and conditions resulting in inbound logistics working perfectly. Operations Travelodge is divided into 3 areas which are reception, food service and room service. The food service is provided through the restaurant which works as an individual business and provides quality in all of its dishes. However, there have been issues with customers reporting complaints about cleaning and security, and this is something that the company will take care of in improving their room service and reception aspect. Outbound Logistics Travelodge focuses in getting customers from the travel agents that are looking for cheap budget
The Management of Tourism at Hengistbury Head Introduction = == == == ==
My group previously visited the Sheraton Hotel for our first interview with the front desk manager and it went very well. We decided to keep with the same hotel for our next interview, but due to a last-minute cancellation from the housekeeping manager we were not able to complete the interview. Due to this situation, I will be talking about a whole different hotel - G6 Hospitality. The name G6 Hospitality refers to the hotel brands – Motel 6 and Studio 6. I chose to G6 Hospitality because it is a well-known company that I wanted to know about more in-depth. From all my research, I have gained a lot of insight on what G6 Hospitality is all about.
Automobiles are also a form of travel that is a substitute for air travel. This is especially the case when a family is traveling as the costs are minimized and schedules coordinated on the travelers’ timetable. Threat of New Entrants Historically, entry into the market has been relatively easy for airline companies. When the economy was booming, people traveled more for leisure and companies used this opportunity to enter th... ... middle of paper ... ...
According to Leiper “Transportation is the only link between the tourist-generating region and destination region”[2]So, transportation was a more interesting sector to discuss in the report but I tried to find a company which is related with all these main sub-sectors discussed above in the report. I have decided to look in the U.K market for such company because “Tourism is one of the largest industries in U.K, worth approximately 75.9 £ Billion to the U.K economy in 2002 and supporting around 2.1 million jobs.” [3] During my research on internet I found many companies offering services in the tourism of U.K but I have decided to choose “Simply Travel” because of its variety of services offering related with the accommodation, transportation and attractions.
The hotel industry performs within a saturated market, driven by customer loyalty and competitive pricing to stand-out. This competitive nature makes it extremely important to capitalise on strengths while improving on
In 1919, Company founder, Conrad Hilton, purchased his first hotel in Cisco, Texas. Since that time, Hilton Worldwide has become a worldwide operator, franchisor, and licensor of hotels and timeshare properties in more than 91 countries. In nearly 100 years of existence, the Company now finds itself as one of the largest and fastest growing hospitality companies with over 4,115 properties and 678,630 rooms. With a commitment to high quality and customer satisfaction, the company has established a portfolio of 10 world-class brands including the most recognizable hotel brand in the world, the company’s flagship full-service Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand. Its premier brand portfolio includes the luxury hotel brands, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts and Conrad Hotels & Resorts, full-service hotel brands, DoubleTree by Hilton and Embassy Suites Hotels, focus-based hotel brands, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton, and the company’s timeshare brand, Hilton Grand Vacations. Hilton operated properties are staffed with more the 314,000 team members focused on providing a complete experience at each location. Moreover, the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is considered the first international hotel brand in the world, as it began operations in the year 1946 (About InterContinental Hotels Group Brands, 2015). Over time the hotel group has evolved to encompass quality hotel rooms not only in North America, but in Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, and Asia-Pacific (IHG – InterContinental Hotels Group, 2015). In addition, they have acquired extended stay facilities and the Hualuxe Hotels & Resorts, which specifically “celebrates the essence of Chinese hospitality” (About InterContinental Hotels Group Brands, 2015). In my opinion, this shows that their target market has changed by expanding their scope of travel, which means they are traveling to farther and farther locations and require the familiar surroundings with equivalent product quality at the final destination. The InterContinental Hotels Group is in the fourth and final stage of the product life cycle, which is the decline stage (Editorial Board, 2014, p. 212). Indeed, the brands lengthy history indicates it has loyal customers, but its addition of innovations indicates the targeting of new customers for the organization, which are clear signs of a business in the decline stage of the product life cycle (Editorial Board, 2014, p.
For the introduction, brief information regarding my purchase and the travel and tourism industry is presented. It was then followed by the explanation of the 2 chosen theories from two different chapters.
What do the letters PESTEL stand for? Can you identify any links between some of these

The value chain is a systematic approach to examining the development of competitive advantage. The Google's chain consists of a series of activities that create and build value, the mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Innovations in web search and advertising have made the web site a top internet destination and Google brand is one of the most recognized in the world.
Before explaining the advantages that a value chain can offer, it is important to first identify the value chain itself. According to Stabell and Fjeldstad (1998) Porter's work on VCA began by disseminating an organization's activities into two categories, primary activities and support activities (See Figure 1):
However instead of directly competing with the hotels and travel agencies we intend to create and establish great working relationships in the form of alliances, therefore we are able to offer the excursion services to their clients which enables them to solely focus on the complete satisfaction of their guests. 2. Existing hotels and travel agencies will identify the opportunity to diversify and create an interest into our intended services while utilizing their current client database. By doing this they create a huge leverage being that we are a new company just beginning our services and looking to establish the clients and connections that they already
