There is no formal vision and mission statement for eBay. Based on the case, eBay have some statement on their annual report and the company came out with the following statement: Statement that was published in the company annual report could be extract that the company was fully intended to be the world’s leading in online marketplace and they are focusing to invest on their core Marketplace and their adjacent business. Since there is no clear vision statement for eBay, a proposed vision statement would be meaningful to describe the company. Global Commerce Leadership is great to be eBay vision statement as eBay well known as they offers millions of items for trade either through auction-style or fixed price. Besides that they also provide a robust platform where merchants of all sizes can compete and win. Proposed mission for eBay is to be the largest online marketplace that facilitate customer’s (1) shopping experience (2) from beginning to end, with a smart, searchable website(4), easy-to-follow instructions(7), clear and secure payment methods (5,6,8) at the same time enabling economic opportunity around the world(3) together with our associates(9). A good thought of the company goals was also stated in the proposed mission statement which comprises the 9 element as in Figure 2. This Company made their mission statement in 2012 and according to me this mission and vision statement is good but these need loads of changes as I have read in this course mission statement should be:-
