My advocacy topic is bullying. I, myself, was bullied by a fellow female student in Middle School. Bullying is defined as intentional and repeated aggression towards another person that causes injury or discomfort. Unfortunately bullying has been seen in toddlers and continues throughout all school ages. Bullying has very negative effects on early childhood development. These scars can have very long lasting negative effects on children that in some cases have led to suicide. It is reported in the CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance – 2013 report, that on average across 39 state survey, 7.2% of students admit to not going to school due to personal safety concerns (https://americanspcc.org/bullying/statistics-and-information/).
