Many can say that there is so much going on in the world today. One of the biggest factors that are affecting this world today is the way society treats itself and others. People such as young children and teenagers are being bullied. Very much of that has to do with society.
Introduction:
Bullying has become such an important factor in todays world because of how much its been happening. Bullying can cause so much stress and can leave anyone feeling hurt, angry, frightened, alone, and even depressed.
Imagine dropping your child off at school and he or she leaves the house in a great mood and then you get a call saying your son or daughter is being bullied. Imagine only if that was your child being picked on and wanting to go home to harm

themselves possibly even kill themselves. So many people know what that is today and so many children are causing themselves harm because of everything that they go through and have no one to speak to about what is going on in their head. So many people that have attended public schools we know that is one of the main places children and young adults are getting picked on.
Regardless of where it is happening it should not be happening at all anywhere around the world. Studies have shown that thirteen percent of children, ages two through seventeen, experienced physical bullying and thirty-six percent experienced teasing or emotional bullying in schools over the past year (Finkelhor D).
Problem Section:
According to (stopbullying.gov) when adults do not respond to bullying behavior they send out a message that it is okay for them to bully other kids and continue to do so. Bullying happens to people for numerous amount of reasons. Parents and teachers need to pay more attention to their children and send out that message that it is not okay for children to bully each other.
It is a proven fact that according to (childtrends) on October 3, 2013 an average almost 160,000 children stay home and miss school because of being scared of repeatedly getting bullied. Not only is that the problem but from missing school so much children lose concentration and fall so far behind in their school work. Even though children are bullied every day some of them go to school in the morning fearing that they will run into the bully picking on them. That is no way to receive a great

education. Society itself has a lot to do with children and people being bullied. Children feel that they have to be accepted by others. They dress and act a certain way just so they feel accepted by society. Just like in the stories that where read in class “Salvation by Hughes” the story explains the point when the young boy discovers a significance about faith and religion. In the story his aunt is very religious. She takes him to a church get together to bring the young boy to believe in a certain god that is out there. In the other story “The Lottery” by Jacksons, it is about a small town that no more then three hundred people live in. They all play a game that is called the lottery even though it is not really the lottery. Towards the end of the story whoever wins gets stoned to death.
The whole village ended up throwing rocks and stones at a whole family who were stoned to death. Now you have the whole village who claimed to be friends with these people. Young people and older people throwing rocks and stones at people that where part of their community people that they where friends with. Throwing things at people in general in part of bullying and parent are allowing their kids to think that it is okay to do what they are doing. According to (Eisenberg, Gower, McMorris , & Bucchianeri ,2015) young people who engage in bullying behaviors tend to have a higher levels of overall conduct
problems. Solution Section: Somehow we as society should intend to fix this big problem. Why not correct children when they are wrong why not send them that message that they are doing what is not right. Believe it or not, the way a child is raised has a lot to do with what their behavior looks like in society. Some believe that if a child does not get enough of attention at home he will most likely become a bully. Your child needs to know it is not okay to do what they are doing. Call your child out on it, make sure to tell him what he did is not good. Make sure to prove the point of what they did is wrong and it is not okay to do it again. Do not tell your child it is okay and then laugh about it with him when your done scolding them. Because you should always remember that the child can one day be your child getting picked on. This often leads other children that are being bullied to self harm themselves. Some go into deep depressions causing them to get into drugs and other kinds of pills and strange stuff. According to (Bullying and suicide) Studies have showed that suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people in result of nearly 4,400 deaths per year. Over fourteen percent of high school students have considered suicide and almost seven percent have attempted it. I believe that a high school should have a group counselor to speak to teens that are being bullied to keep these numbers down. Children that are often bullied by other classmates often show signs of weakness when they are around teachers. Teachers also know when a child is being bullied or not it is part of their job description to tell a child what they should or should not do. Teachers believe that it is not part of their job to baby sit children in school. In the long run most of the time a child is being bullied it is in front of a teacher or an adult. If teachers could take some time to actually think that it is there job to protect our children when he or she is being bullied and speak up to the child telling them that what they are doing is not right. It is their job to teach children what is right from wrong is. A solution to bullying in school and even out of school. Parents and teachers should be stricter with their children. Teach them right from wrong and that it is not okay to continue doing what they are doing. Conclusion: In conclusion to my writings, society impacts a lot on how children feel about themselves. Children should never fear going to school they should be excited about going to hang out with their friends and learn new thing. Parents should always teach their children right from wrong if one feels that they have to discipline their child for bullying so be it. As for teachers keeping an eye on there children in the class room and making sure they are not being picked on can really keep down suicide attempts and thoughts.
Around the world there are many different problems going on. There's money problems, homelessness, Drug use, human trafficking etc. In this case bullying is one of those problems that we’re focusing on. This can relate to so many different people in the world because bullying is popular, and happens a lot either it’s in school or outside of school. Yet bullying is more likely to happen in school than out of school in closed areas where there's no supervision or adult in sight, which gives bullies the chance to do whatever and not get in trouble. There are different types of bullying and not all are the same but verbal is like the same exact thing as a punch in the stomach because words hurt just as much. Family first aid statistics say that about 30 percent of teenagers in the U.S. has been the
This happens all across the globe. A problem that seems to have no solution. School is a place where students can go to to feel safe in an environment that is made to help them learn and advance. Not a place where students fear going to school. “The American Association of school Psychologists reported that more than 160,000 students are absent from school daily due to the fear of being bullied” (Levine and Tamburrino, 2014). That is an incredibly high number. For the school year of 2012-2013, there were about 98,328 public schools in the nation, that would mean that in each and every elementary, Middle, and High school in the Nation, an estimated two students do not show up to school because of the fear of being bullied.“Further, students who are being bullied may begin stealing money or being dishonest about being ill” (Levine, 2014).
Bullying has many negative effects on many people such as the victim, the bully himself, and society. Studies show these effects may turn out to be short-term or long-term.
Bullying has become a major problem facing the United States today. The American Psychological Association reports that roughly 40% to 80% of children are involved in bullying on some level during their time in school. (APA, 2014) The magnitude of the problem can be observed in the statistics. In the United States, a total of 4,080,879 children between the ages of five and 18 have been the victims of bullying compared to 3,892,199 who have reported that they have engaged in bullying someone else. Additionally, 851,755 said that they have been both the victim and the bully. That's a whopping 8,824,833 people in the United States that have been involved in bullying behavior on one level or another. (High, B., 2000 Census)
Have you ever bullied or been bullied? If you have bullied or been bullied then you should know how bullying feels like. Bullying is very negative and creates major problems for our society. Nothing good comes out of bullying. It could very well change or ruin a person’s life. In fact, it does ruin many people’s lives. Kids can be mentally scarred if they are teased often. Even worse, they could be killed or fatally injured if the bullying gets extreme. There are many causes for bullying which must be taken care of before bullying can be stopped. T.V. violence, families in poverty, and mis-teachings are just several of the many serious causes for bullying. Bullying must be stopped or prevented no matter how long it will take, it is a deeply concerning matter.
Thesis statement: Approximately three thousand people get bullied everyday, and at some point in our life we got bullied, even though not everyone is the same, for some other people their situation is worse.
As a society, we often underestimate the damages that bullying cause on children, not just America but all over, and the ones who suffer are the victims themselves. Victims are damaged with the stigma that they are weak, yet somehow have to fend for themselves against something that they have little to no control over. Whether it is for funding, a reputation or any other reason schools sweep their bullying problem under the rug or turn a blind eye, however they have more potential to end this growing issue. To the schools that think bullying is not their problem, they should know that according to heyugly.org, an anti-bullying campaign, “Approximately, 160,000 children a day stay home from school in fear of being bullied.”They also point out
Bullying is a serious issue and has an adverse effect that could lead to depression, anxiety, and worse suicide. To become a bully takes a long process, with the help from parents, schools, communities, and social media, bullies and bullying can be prevented.
Bullying is a growing concern in a society where status and exercising power over another human being are increasingly important in developing one’s social circles. Dan Olweus (Norwegian researcher and founder of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program) defines it as an “aggressive behaviour that is intentional and that involves an imbalance of power. Most often, it is repeated over time” (Violencepreventionworks.org). School victimization is an especially delicate matter that has only really been in the public eye for the past half century, as more and more researchers and psychologists pointed out its short- and long-term negative effects on targeted individuals. It has since been widely investigated and numerous programs have been developed in an effort to address and prevent the many forms of bullying that exist today. The negative effects of such an abusive behaviour are various and can greatly differ from individual to individual. However, there are three main consequences that can be associated with school bullying, which are: school avoidance, depression/anxiety and even suicidal attempts.
The idea that kids should be allowed to be kids, and that kids who are bullied learn to be self-reliant is erroneous. Recently, my son Ryan was being hit on the head by an older student, the student also proceeded to take Ryan’s things. Even though the teacher witnessed the incident multiple times, she waited for my son to tell us he didn’t want to go to school anymore, to take action. My wife talked to Ryan’s teacher to address the problem. The teacher’s response was that she would talk to my son for him to deal with the bully, who again, is older than
To begin this is a problem we should care about because kids are getting hurt, depressed, suicidal thoughts, and more.According to this video called bullying, “Bullying is physical, verbal, or psychological attacks or intimidation against a person who cannot properly defend himself or herself. It involves two key components repeated harmful acts and imbalance of power”This proves
Kids all around the world have been affected by a school bully physically and verbally. While many people believe that bullying is a joke, but can be serious a life changing to certain people because one bully could change someone's life. Which should change because
As adults, teachers, and parents, it is important to respond quickly and consistently to any bullying behavior. This way, we send a clear and firm message that bullying is unacceptable. - “Research shows this can stop bullying behavior over time,” states www.stopbullying.gov. Adults should first intervene quickly and separate the children involved. Making sure every child is safe is very important in order to meet any medical or mental health needs if necessary. As an adult, staying calm is important as well in order to calm down the children involved and not contribute to any hostile mood or environment. In addition, get police help or medical attention if there is a weapon involved, serious threats made, serious violence or racism/homophobia, serious bodily harm, sexual abuse or assault, or any illegal accusations are being
The important thing is not the action but the effect on the victim. No-one should ever underestimate the fear that a bullied child feels.
Victims of bullying tend to struggle with concentrating in school more than one who can fully focus on their work. “They may be afraid to go to school, go to the lavatory, or ride the school bus. Bullied students typically lose confidence in themselves” (What Effect Does Bullying Have). Over a long period of time, that person’s grades will most likely slip. Sometimes when a young person doesn’t know how to correctly allocate with the emotions they are experiencing, they may begin to develop psychosomatic symptoms, signs of depression, and decreased academic achievement. Indeed, the effects of bullying are very severe.
