Concentration is a skill, a choice, can be learned, needs to be practiced daily, is subjective in assessment, is dependent on the sport, the task, and the speed at which the task is occurring. Concentration is the action of focusing one’s attention with mental effort. Focusing is the center of interest of one’s concentration and attention is the actual act of applying the mind to something with readiness in order to zoom-in with an intentional effort. I believe concentration, especially in a jet or while engaged in a high risk sport such as rock climbing, rests on one’s situational awareness or SA. My objective is to build and nurture their concentration with confidence and motivation to push their limits to maintain their minds “in the moment”. I also want to allow them to experience the failures of lost concentration that can be caused by distractions, task saturation, channelized attention, and loss of situational awareness. This way they can know what it feels like and while also having the ability to refocus and to get back to a normal with optimum arousal in an ideal performance state within their Individual Zone of Optimal Functioning (IZOF) with total awareness and confidence. First, they have to understand IZOF, awareness, and my Confidence Model plus have a foundation in ethical decision making. Weekly Weekly, I will monitor their progress toward goal achievement and see if there is a relationship between my perception of their concentration and confidence. Adjustments will be made to their processes to increase their progress toward higher performance with increased confidence and motivation.
Weely, I will reinforce to my athletes that focus is a skill, is controllable, is a choice, is a catalyst to great performance. I also know that I am responsible for teaching both the sport skill and the ability to focus. Using diagrams as presented in this paper will help me teach them with a visual aid.

In research athletes have been made to believe that they received anabolic steroids, carbohydrates, or caffeine and they performed better than baseline or control groups. The focus in placebo research in sport is one the role of beliefs as a psychological factor in performance. Sport psychologists have argued that many technologies, products, or substances that seem to have an effect on athletes performance have no clear biological basis but may simply be the result of the placebo effect.

By contrasting modern day situations to the time period of the 80’s where the movie Straight Outta Compton takes place, we can see that the racism present in the movie is still ongoing today. A key point that is portrayed both within the present and the movie is that minorities are constantly being targeted by authorities such as police officers. As well, we can see that by comparing the genre of rap then in comparison to now, we can see that racism is still prevalent in this form of music. The last issue that is brought up is that minorities are still not being called “artists” even though they create the same music that white people make. For example a national football team preparing for the World Cup might use imagery in visualising themselves in the final, lifting the World Cup, scoring goals, penalties etc., not only visualising but imaging how it will feel. The class I visited is comprised of 24 five and six year old children, a lead teacher and a ‘Para-Pro” who assists the teacher and provides support and guidance for the children. Within the classroom itself, there are 6 tables organized in the center of the room in a grid formation. Children have their own workspace at a shared table. Around the perimeter of the room are ‘centers’ where each day, the children work on tasks such as listening, story development, gross and fine motor skills, math, reading and other important skills that are needed to develop socially and academically. In several places on the walls, there are displays or ‘brag boards’ where children can post their work that they feel best represents their efforts. The walls are brightly decorated and are filled with pictures, letters, numbers and other basic elementary school information. It is energizing and interesting without being chaotic or overstimulating.

Reason why this occurs in children and some adults is result of ADHD, a disorder that creates lack of concentration and lack of controlling energetic behavior. It can also mean that it’s hard for the person to be organized with their life and turns it into a habit. Children with poor concentration in school and educational work, can affect them later on in life if not treated or start to be organized in their own time.
