The ability to manage my time is a necessary tool to my academic success because there is always room for improvement. I am currently working on honing my time management skills by focusing on a topic for extended period of time, until the task is completed. At the moment, I usually manage my work by how long it will take me to complete. This is important to my time management, as if I don't have a time frame, I tend to become distracted by other work. I find that while I am able to work for an extended period of time, the most difficult part is getting started. Yet, once started, I find it easy to keep myself on task. I noticed that I excel in budgeting my time, yet I find I have trouble getting started, and I am acceptable at keeping to …show more content…
I first begin by prioritizing my time, as it is useless to work on something that is due in a week, and to push off something that is due the next day. Once I have my time divided into sections, I start working. This habit has taken a long time to develop, as temptations are rampant, and this has required an immense amount of self discipline. Yet, I find it easy after it was put in to practice, as I strive for constant academic success, constantly. While I certainly do not allow myself to be lazy, I sometimes and a tough task setter for myself, and I find myself unable to complete the listed tasks. This does cause me, at times, to become discouraged, yet I merely pick myself up, and begin again. This comes about, because I have a habit of thinking I can do more than is realistically possible, which creates its own …show more content…
I become so absorbed in my work, and completing my work, that I lose track of the time. While some may consider this a negative aspect, I would like to consider it a positive. As when one loses track of their surroundings, they are clearly very focused at the task at hand, which is very beneficial to the assignment that is being worked on. This will prove beneficial at the Indiana Academy, as it can be reasonably hypothesized that the work load will increase dramatically. Thus, such a developed skill, will serve me well in my endorsers, if I am admitted. Thus, I have found that such skills are very useful in my time management when it comes to my
Just as they are standing face-to-face with each other, I am standing face-to-face with procrastination. I encounter difficulty managing my time with just about everything I do; I always wait too long. Throughout high school I was never in a hurry to get any of my work done. The work was easy to me, so if I waited until the last minute to do anything, it wasn’t hard for me to finish. I could always take my time to get everything done and still get a good grade in high school. Even if the work was harder and took me a little extra time, my teachers were all very lenient and accepted late work. My high school was very easy and allowed me to get into the bad habit of procrastinating.
Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is very hard to stop procrastinating everything once you have gotten into the habit of doing it. Once I had a term paper due for my religion class. It was to be ten pages long and we were told to spend a lot of time doing it. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited to the very last minute to do it. I waited until the night before to do most of it. Needless to say, I was up very late that night. In this class there was always a part of the paper due on a certain date before the final paper was due. Having things due before the final paper is due keeps me on task and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your final result will be.
There are many ways to improve managing your time wisely and be accountable for it. The first step of improving your time wisely is to have a good rest the day before. By doing this you will have enough energy to last you the next following day. Also, sleeping late is not a good way of time management. Sleeping late will only result to not waking up on time and where you have to be. Sleeping will help both our body and mind to recover from the day’s activities. Another way of improving time management
Time management is a very important skill for all employees. Many employees find themselves frustrated with their workload and this often leads to stress as they try to catch up on tasks that they have not managed to complete.
I used to have a very simple issue but never noticed until a teacher pointed it out. I was always focused in handing in my assignments on time and believed by doing so I was definitely going to be successful and be getting a good mark on it but most of the time I was disappointed in not getting the mark I wanted and never understood why I got the mark I did. One day I asked my teacher and she told me that I’m always in a hurry to hand in my assignments on time that I forget to take a second look or add more details and make silly mistakes that affect the
There have been countless times in my life where I have struggled to stay focused on a task ahead of me. I always plan out my work time ahead in order for me to complete a task, but every time I find that I have to revise my plan every day closer to the deadline. The little work that I should have done each day turns into a tremendous amount of work before the due date. Occupying myself with other things that keep me entertained, only brings me a lot of distress at the end. As I continue to torture myself , this bad habit of mine continous to dwell inside of me. One could say that there may be many implied meanings to this concept, but nevertheless, this force that messes with me everyday is considered to be procrastination.
Learning that having good time management skills has shown me that I can take my time and accomplish more. When relating this to school, I can honestly say that starting early is the best gift that I can give myself. As a full-time student with a family and a full-time job, my time is a limited resource (Britton & Tesser, 1991 pg.405). When I start early on an assignment, I don't have to rush and if I mess up, I can start over or seek help if necessary. My work schedule doesn’t always agree with my school schedule but for the most part, I try to have all of my school work completed by Thursday. As I'm approaching the last week in this class, I have began to look over the discussion posts first and then I look over the complete section to familiarize myself with the material before I even go to the read section (Chambers, 2015 pg.4). I found that to be especially helpful when I first began this class because the things that I already knew or felt like I knew, I went ahead and did it.
There are many obstacles that I may encounter that are both internal and external. A huge potential barrier between me and my meaningful and significant life is my internal struggle with time management. Procrastination is something I am very good at. I know it's nothing to brag about but sometimes I feel like I just can't help it. Even when I actually am focu...
I know i’m gonna struggle on that threw all my years in high school and college. Even when i get a job it’s gonna be hard to stay on task once things start getting piled up. If i got rid of all distractions that would help. I have to concentrate on 1 thing at a time. Staying on task and not turning my work in on time goes hand in hand. If i have a planner or when everything is due that would help me turn in all my work in on time and stay on task by giving me the things i need to do. If I want to be a therapist I can not get distracted. I have to learn when to put certain things to the side. I can get distracted very easily. If I learn how to put things to the side I won't get distracted as
Looking at my own approach to time management I have noticed that I am well organised and good at prioritising tasks and jobs. When I log onto my computer to start my shift I am sent down numerous jobs, each job is different and has different deadlines for attendance and completion. I plan my day based around the date and time deadlines of the jobs and also the locations of the jobs. I then schedule the most effective order of completing the jobs, putting high priority jobs at the top of my list and grouping sites that are geographically close to each other. By effectively planning my day I keep a focused attitude towards my work and I have time to think about tasks and situations, rather tha...
Procrastination is hard for me, mainly because I have a bad habit of waiting to do an assignment closer
Do not procrastinate. Choose a task and start working on it. Delaying a task will only make it that much hard to get started. Commit yourself to working on the task for a specific amount of time each day until it is completed.
Being prepared is a key step in being able to manage time. There are a lot of things that go with being prepared. First, you have to have an idea of what you want to do. Knowing what you are getting into helps a lot because you will be able to focus on specific points that will ensure that you are headed in the right direction of achieving your goal. This sounds pretty easy, but it is a task that a lot of people overlook. You may need material to ensure that you can do your task at hand, so knowing exactly what is going on will definitely help. Getting yourself in a proper place to be able to concentrate and execute what you have in mind is also a very important step. Not having a million and one distraction will allow you to focus and get everything done in a time...
