Recommended: Brief history on the music rock and roll

Rock and roll never officially started without a true performer named Buddy Holly. Holly pioneered in the new wave of rock and roll along with Elvis Presley. No matter what Holly did, his fans seemed to never leave his side and fell in love with a style of music all his own. Forever young, buddy Holly still has a musical impact on his fans. Charles Hardin Holley, widely known as Buddy Holly, was an American singer with a brilliant talent. (“Buddy Holly Biography,” Buddy Holly) Born on September 7, 1936 in Lubbock, Texas, Buddy Holly was the youngest of four. Lawrence Odell Holley and Ella Pauline Holley were Buddy Holly’s parents. (“Buddy Holly Biography,” Amburn) Holley was born into a family of music. Even though Holley’s father Lawrence Odell Holley had no real musical talent, he made each of his children learn an instrument. (Drape) Buddy Holly learned how to play the piano and fiddle at an early age. (“Buddy Holly Biography”) Later on, one of Holley’s brothers taught him how to play the guitar. (Amburn) Not only did Holley’s guitar playing have a sense of proficiency and individual style, but it also progressed with a great speed that astonished his family. (Amburn) At first, Holley’s parents though he showed no real signs of musical talent. After learning the guitar so fast and well, Holley’s parents changed that opinion pretty fast. (Drape) When he entered his teens, Holley and fellow guitarist Bob Montgomery began performing everywhere they could. (Drape) Between car lots, grocery stores, school auditoriums, skate rinks, and more; there was never a shortage of places to perform. (Drape) With a surge of new performers, people came from miles around to see the entertainment that the Hub City, Lubbock, Texas, ... ... middle of paper ... ...s being as short and sweet as one of his hits. Two decades passed before Holly’s fans pressured Lubbock’s city officials to construct a statue in his honor. (Drape) Buddy Holly was a pioneer in rock and roll and an inspiration to many. At at a young age he learned to play the fiddle and he and his father performed at dances and other social gatherings. However, in 1933 Wills left the band and formed a new one called Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys and they toured together over the next forty years. In 1945 Wills appeared at the Grand Ole Opry and insisted that there be a horn and drum section on stage. The audience was surprisingly pleased with this unwanted change by the directors. Despite his somewhat strained relationship with Nashville, the local country music establishment formally recognized Wills and his important overall impact on country music when the Country Music Association Hall of Fame inducted him in 1968 (Hartman, 146). Bob Wills died in 1975, but was still a major influence in up and coming young country artists like Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, George Strait and Lee Ann Womack.
