First is Buddhism, as one of the leading religions in popularity, Buddhism is often known for their wise and respectful traditions. Instead of the afterlife Buddhists believe in reincarnation, the act of being reborn as a new entity. This is part of the “Samsara” also known as the cycle of life; this theory states that once you die the energy of your body is transferred into another. Though with this belief Buddhists still believe that nothing is permanent, this religious law is referred to as Annica. This law provides Buddhists with complete confidence that the idea of souls or permanent afterlife realms such as Heaven and Hell inconspicuous. There are six realms and depending on which realms one is rebirthed into they will be rebirthed into a specific level which either reward you or punish you. Heaven, being the most rewarding is known as the home of Gods (Devas). This is a realm for ecstatic long lived beings. This is one of the 2 realms that acquire levels, Heaven consists of 26 levels of increasing happiness. The next realm is the realm of humanity, this realm is relevant due to its close proximity to Nirvana. The third realm is the realm of Titans or angry Gods (Asuras), this realm is designated to those who rely on anger impulses. Following the realm of Titans is the realm of the hungry ghost (Pretas). This realm is designated to those who are driven by greed, hence the word “hungry” in the realm’s name. Humans who are easily exploited are sent to the animal realm as they do not seek liberation through self awareness. The final realm is the Hell realms. Also known as Naraka, Hell consists of 29 levels of punishment, an entity will remain in this realm until it's bad karma is paid off. An example of one the Hell’s levels is Maharaurava. Maharaurava is the fifth level of Hell and is for those who commit identity theft and steal the credit of others. The punishment of this type of karma is being eaten by carnivorous animals.
