Going through obstacles can be emotional and hard, but can help you find your destiny. Bud did this on a journey to find his dad in “Bud Not Buddy” by Christopher Paul Curtis. Bud had to go through obstacles to find his destiny and he changes from sad and scared to a happy and brave boy. At the beginning Bud is sad and scared about events he goes through. Bud was sad because of what happened to his mom when he was six years old. In the story, Bud states “Six is real tough. That’s how old I was when I came to live here at the Home. That’s old I was when momma died.” Bud becomes sad because he has no one to look up to. He has no family that he knows and Bud doesn’t know his own dad. Bud doesn’t know where his family is. Bud is also scared because when he was at the Amos’ house and they locked him in the shed. According to the text “Even though it was night time there was a whole different, scarier kind of dark in the shed. A colder dark with more grays and more shadows.” Bud is scared of the dark shed because there is pile of dirt that looked like blood on the dirt. There is fish heads on the door that had razor sharp teeth. Bud also saw what looked like a vampire bat hanging from …show more content…
Bud is brave because he has to go through scary obstacles but he faces those scary obstacles. In the story Bud states “Quick as anything I locked the door and crawled over to the drivers side of the car and pulled that door closed and locked it just a vampire reached for the handle to get in.” When Bud saw blood he locked the doors then faced his fears. Bud tried to take Lefty Lewis’ car and get away. Bud is also happy because he finds his grandfather. According to the text “Lord help us all, it looks like Herman might be your grandfather.” Bud is happy because he finds his grandfather that he’s never met before. Now he has a loving family. Bud is happy now since he found his long lost
“Another source of greatness is difficulty. When any work seems to have required immense force and labour to effect it, the idea is grand” (Edmund Burke). We may not enjoy tremendous obstacles while we’re experiencing them, but when they’re over, we can definitely see the benefits. In Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen, the protagonist, Cole, has had to face many obstacles in his life, such as his abusive father, his neglectful mother and his anger. Many people can relate to Cole because they, too, have had many obstacles in their life. Overcoming obstacles makes Cole more empathetic and emotionally stable. Empathy is important because it is what allows humans to be human. Being mentally

The theme of "Sonny's Blues" by James Baldwin focuses on whether a person should be conventional in making decisions for their life, or if they should follow their heart and do what is right for them. A person begins with strengths, many of which they lose along the way. At some point along their heroic journey a person may regain their strengths and develop new ones. Each phase of this journey will have an effect on them and others around them.
We all are heroes of our own story, and it is a quality seen in many movies and books. The hero's journey is about progress and passage. This journey involves a separation from the unknown, known world, and a series of phases the hero must go through . Each stage of the journey must be passed successfully if the person is to become a hero. In “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini, the main character Amir faces a series of trials and goes through obstacles where the concept of his childhood dies.
The Hero’s Journey is an ancient archetype that we find throughout our modern life and also, in the world of literature.Whether metaphorical or real, the journey that a character goes on shows not only the incredible transformation of the hero but it also gives them their life meaning. It is the ultimate human experience and it reflects on every aspect of life. Take Logan, also known as Wolverine, from the X-Men movie as an example. His adventure starts with “The Call,” which is the first step of the Hero’s Journey. This step happens due to the realization of imbalance and injustice that the character has in their life. Logan steps into the first stage of the pattern but is hesitant to start his adventure because he does not know what and
The authors from all four memoirs overcame their childhood obstacles by realizing that one action can fix their problems. Gary Soto accepted working in the fields after he realized that coming back to work would fix his problems. Laurence Yep chose to go with his father to kill the rat after he noticed that choosing to go with him would make them bond. Barack Obama and his friends were able to accept Barrack after his dad gave a presentation to his class about heritage. Julia Alvarez’s mother helped Julia through the process of moving to the United States, when Julia didn’t realize that the Dominican Republic was doing anything wrong. All four memoirs describe overcoming obstacles to teach readers that it is possible to overcome any problems that happen in life.
POW! You're in the 1930s and your bank account is as dry as the Sahara Desert. Bud is the main character in Bud, Not Buddy who's gone through many life tragedies. His mom died when he was six-years-old. So, he was put in an orphanage. He ran away from his last foster home and began a perilous journey to find his long-lost father. Bud, Not Buddy would be a different book if written in the twenty-first century because there would be amber alerts, running water, better medicines or vaccines, and people would have more money.
"There comes a time," sighed Bud. In the book Bud Not Buddy, the main character, Bud goes through many hard times. After his momma died when he was six, he was sent to an orphanage. From there he was sent to a terrible foster home where he was treated horribly. He then set off on a quest seeking his father. He went through extremely hard challenges before eventually finding his grandfather instead. Bud Not Buddy would be completely if this story was set on a later time after the Great Depression, His conditions at the home would have been better, he would have never made it to Hooverville, and he would have never gone to the Amuses.
It is often that you can avoid adversity in life, but in reality it is always there. Auggie Pullman and his family is on the fence of sending him to school, and however, he goes through adversity, he learns to overcome it later on in the school year. “This year i am very proud to award the Henry Ward medal to the student whose quiet strength has carried up most hearts”, the school principal, Mr. Tushman reads. Auggie overcomes it and learns from the adversity he was faced
Sometimes there are hurdles in life that require great courage to overcome. We must utilize our inner strengths to motivate these courageous actions. Loren Eiseley sets an example of this in The Running Man- a chapter from his autobiography, All the Strange Hours. In this essay he reveals memories that show his lonely childhood which gives him the courage to overcome his problems.
The father, and his sons perseverance is vital to help them overcome barriers, and challenges they face along their journey which is a key factor to their survival. An example is the father's
1, People always say that courage may be the most important key to the success in any walk of life. In Sherman Alexie’s novel, “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian”, Junior showed his courage by deciding to go to Reardon; standing up against Roger and trying out for the basketball team. Those key events led to Junior’s success and through these events, the author shows that personal courage is crucial to Junior’s success in Reardon.
The picture of Bud Fields and his family is depressing for example his family looks deprived of food, bad shelter and overall they look impoverished. The family looks like they only have one bed. Everyone seems to be dirty up and tired. The distraught look on their face tells you that they're not satisfied with their life or disappointed. Sad faces show many things, one of the kids are sad and the second youngest child doesn’t seem to know what’s going on probably because he’s so young. Not a lot of space in the house looks gloomy. Dusty, the wall only has three picture frames. The grand mom is the only one wearing shoes I’d say because she either has tarnished back or her feet might be swollen from many years of walking miles
Sometimes you have to get tough, and persevere through your challenges. In The Call of the Wild, Buck the dog got beaten and tortured relentlessly. Anxious, Buck had to get tougher through some conflicts. Regardless of my dad's accident, he kept going and overcame his struggles. Even though Buck and my father’s injuries are very different, they both had to get right back up after their physical problems. Everyone has to persevere through some confrontation and get and get more durable. Whether it is getting beaten like Buck or getting in an accident like my father.
Everyone has to go through obstacles in life. In which, can help find oneself. In the film, Howl’s Moving Castle directed by Hayao Miyazki, it follows a story of a low self-esteem adolescent name Sophie and the mysterious Howl. Sophie has to break through a curse that the Witch of the Waste put on her. The curse made her appearance look like an old, hunched grandma that causes Sophie to leave her family and follow the journey of Howl to break the curse that she is under. On the other hand, Howl has to fight a war against Madame Suliman whom is against Howl’s wizard powers. Over the course of the journey, Sophie and Howl has to go through finding self-acceptance, leaping over obstacles, and having character development. Although I agree with
