Discussion Question #2-A Character’s Character Although Sam Childs is an obedient and loyal son to Roland Childs, after he discovers his brother(Stick) has joined a party called the Blank Panthers, he starts to doubt his choices, and where his loyalties lie. Sam shows that he is an obedient and loyal son when he starts helping his father prepare the demonstration for Bucky,”He seemed so pleased. I didn’t want to let him down. And I wanted to do something for Bucky. This was better, anyway, wasn’t it? Safe. Familiar”(147). This quote from the book, The Rock and the River, shows that Sam is an obedient son because Sam is compliant to his father’s requests, and submissive. This quote shows that Sam is loyal because he is showing support to his
“ SOmetimes it’s the smallest decisions that can change your life forever.” Keri Russell. In the novel “ The Wednesday Wars” by Gary D Schmidt Hollings father decides that his sister is not going to college. Although Mr.Hoodhood has said no Heather can still make her own decisions according to what she wants in her life, so that she makes the results of her life and changes what she wants to change. In this situation heather has been beaten, but I think that Mr.hoodhood is wrong because you should go to college no matter how old you are. Just because your parent says you can’t do something doesn’t mean you can’t do it as an adult.
Charley Goddard when into the war when he was fifteen years old he when into the war only to be a man. He was not thinking of what he would have to live on, the conditions he had to live under. He was not thinking that he would have to see the things that he had seen, doing the things that he had to do to stay alive. When Charley entered the war he wasn’t scared mostly because the didn’t do much. When the war really started to “kick up” or become more intense he started to get scared, he almost threw up half of the time. He didn’t think he would have to walk and take cover from dead men- dead friends. When Charley was out of the war he was twenty one. He was walking with a cane and is complaining that he was too old. When Charley said he was too old he wasn't talking about his age he was talking about the things he had seen.
The novel ‘Jasper Jones’ and the film ‘Jindabyne’ both use the representation of characters and their relationships to challenge the treatment of individuals with regards to race, class and gender. The historical contexts surrounding these two texts sets the basis for the stratification and racial discrimination present. The lack of dignity that is depicted between the relationships formed between characters displays the regard in which communities treat each other. ‘Jasper Jones’ and ‘Jindabyne’ are comparable texts as it is clear that the gap between these communities has reduced since the time period of ‘Jasper Jones’ when compared to ‘Jindabyne’, however, it is identified that this gap still exists.
I think Fly Guy was very hungry, but he never stopped and he thing best thing to eat. Firstly, He never gave up even when everybody told him to leave and to get away from their food. In the book it states that the boy, girl, and old lady yelled at him and told him to leave. Even though they told him to leave he never stopped looking for food and his friend; Fly Guy is very brave not to give on something he wants. Secondly, I think he always love his best friend very much. In the book it said when he came home he started to look for his friend but he was nowhere to be found. This can infer that he does care about his friend. So, the moral of the story is that if you always work hard and never give up, you will get what you want.
In the 1930’s, turmoil has erupted in Maycomb, Alabama all because the young lady Mayella Ewell has accused African-American Tom Robinson of raping and sexually assaulting her. Yet, Mayella Ewell has no power because of her race, class, and gender. At the time, Maycomb, Alabama was at the peak of segregation against African-Americans. Mayella Ewell may be white, but that does not mean her class, gender, nor her race give her power.
Another fear erected from this novel is the power of seduction over feebleminded women. Evident in a passage from Zofloya, Victoria was swooned even by the sound of his voice, ‘Oh, Flattery, like heavenly dew upon the earth, gratefully dost thou descend upon the ear of woman! Indescribable pleasure dilated the bosom of Victoria, as she listened to the honied accents of the delicate Moor’ (Dacre 156). This villain had a hold over her making it easier to push her towards evil deeds. He promised her security after committing the crimes she wished, ‘…you shall see your desire fulfilled, and I will preserve you from every danger and suspicion’ (Dacre 181). Victoria had wished Berenza dead and Lilla out of the way but required the extra push from Zofloya.

While watching “I am Sam,” I took notice to the many different styles of parenting from person to person. Everyone “normal” person thought Sam was incapable of raising a proper child, and each thought they could find a better suit for Lucy’s parent. One of the most evident styles of

The first major theme is depression. An example of this is when Violet Markey’s sister dies. When she dies Violet doesn’t want to do anything, she never wants to ride in a car. She stops doing everything she used to do and stops hanging out with who she used to. One example of this is when she goes to a party, she says that she’s never been to a party ever since Eleanor died, she then shows up with pajamas and a pillow. When she’s walking to the party she states that she’s drifted from her old friend, “Again, Amanda used to be on of my closest friends, but ever since April, I’ve drifted away from her.” (Niven 45)

In the Canterbury Tales Chaucer explains 3 personality traits of the Squire. One personality trait of the Squire is love. The Squire likes attention and he likes to show off. For example the quote on page 259 “a lover and cadet”. This quote proves that the Squire loves attention and is considered a lover. In one way that the Squire is like his father is that they both love attention. The Squire loves to meet pretty women and wants to feel loved all of the time. For example in the quote “love so hot - too down, he slept.” This quote is saying that the the Squire likes to sleep around with women. Since his father is trying to carve carve the Squire’s personality and is forcing him to do stuff, the Squire is trying to find attention from somewhere
First, let me introduce the setting. In this dialogue, Piper healed Jason with her “charm speak”, or the ability to get people to do what you want. This dialogue happened because Hera did not warn Jason to look away from her true form, so after Piper healed Jason, then Thalia proceeded to make fun of Hera. Let me also introduce the characters. There is Thalia Grace, otherwise known as Zeus’s daughter, and she is also the lieutenant for the Hunters of Artemis, and that is why she is here, she just helped save Hera. Piper is the daughter of Aphrodite, and she is here while on a quest to save Hera.
His hair is described as brown, and the colors he’s adorned in are kinda dull, making him a more dull character than not.
