The Child in Context of Family and Community Children are products of their environment. There are several factors that determine the future outcome of the child. Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model breaks down the components that effect the child. This model contains several layers; the inner most layer is called the microsystem, then comes the mesosystem, the exosystem, and the macrosystem. Each layer describes different factors that explain how and why the child behaves or grows up to be a certain way. 1. Teachers and peers Teachers played a huge role in my development because I started preschool at the age of two, so I spent a lot of time in some sort of classroom setting and interacted with the teachers. When I was younger a lot of times I preferred to be around the teachers, mostly because being an only child at the time, that was all I was used to. There were times when I did interact with my peers. Most of the time I spent was with my cousin because we had the same class. Once I was old enough to start kindergarten I was confident that it was going to be a cake walk. I met a group of friends and was excelling in class. However, my friends and I had a very hard time getting along, so we were later separated. Parent’s work When I was still extremely young both of my parents continued to work. At just one years old my mom was working as a clerk in a doctor’s office, and my dad worked at the SPCA, while also working 90 hours a month being a reserve police officer. So I spent a majority of my time with my mom growing up. My dad later on became a code enforcement officer, so he left the SPCA, but still continued with being a police officer on top of that. Once my mom became pregnant with my sister, my parents decided that they were financially stable enough for my mom to quit her job to stay home with me and my sister. This allowed me to have a close bond with my mom, but because of how much my dad works, it was hard for me to have an even remotely similar relationship with my

Urie talks about how the environment plays a major role in children development, in special education the environment must be accessible for children. According to Malley-Morrison and Hines (2004), abuse is a very broad term, and it conveys images of destructive implications, so maltreatment is used by the author to define two diverse stages of abuse (p. 16). One level consists of the dangerous but lest severe form of abuse such as hitting, shoving, or calling someone names. There is violent abuse which consists of sexual abuse or injury to the person. The Ecological model is the model used by the Department of Health and Human Services to report and it helps the workers identify the underlying reasons, origins, and magnitude of working with child abuse and domestic violence.

If Brutus was really Caesar's friend, he could have brought it to his attention what was going to happen. Ecological theory is a theory developed by Urie Bronfenbrenner that states that the “systems” around you are vitally important in human development. Within the theory there are many systems including the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem, and chronosystem. Each system is defined by a different aspect of a person’s surroundings that would affect their development. The systems begin with the aspect that is closest to you, your day-to-day life. The Microsystem includes all of the places, people, and experiences that are found in your daily life. These include school, work, parents. friends, neighbors, and so forth. The next most impactful system is the exosystem. The mesosystem is defined by two entities within your microsysytem affecting each other. The next system is called the exosystem. In Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory, there are five systems that ultimately influence an individual. The first system is the microsystem, which consists of the people who have direct contact to an individual. In my own life, my immediate family consists of my mother and I. I am an only child to my mother and since my mother and my father have been separated since I was a baby, he has not been part of my microsystem. In addition, I am also a student at CCP. I have a network of friends whom I keep in close contact with. The people that I encounter at home, school, and work have direct contact with me and thus, they are part of my microsystem.
The old African proverb ‘it takes a whole village to raise a child’ (Mohamed, 1996, p. 57) rings significantly through Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory (Bronfenbrenner and Evans 2000); a theory which focuses on gaining insight into human development through identifying the circumstances and considering the environmental influences of which a child is raised not just the genetic components.
The character of Brutus within Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar is rather complex. Throughout the play he has to deal with several events that drag his morality into question, including the degree of his involvement in one of history’s most famous assassinations. Even though the moral validity of Brutus’ choices has been brought into question several times within the play by Brutus himself and other characters, Brutus remained an honest and loyal man who loved his homeland until he died.
The Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Theory focuses on how ones environment can affect a person’s development. It focuses on 5 main areas namely the Microsystem, Mesosystem, Exosystem, Macrosystem and Chronosystem (Bronfenbrenner, 1977, p. 514-515). Each system represents the setting in which they live in and how these people affect their growth. In this particular case study, Andy’s main influence is from the Microsystem and Mesosystem.
Bronfenbrenner’s ecological, system’s theory describes how the child and their immediate surroundings are in an innermost layer surrounded, embedded and influenced by layers from the larger environment all impacting upon the child (Ministry of Education, 1996; Paquette, & Ryan, 2001). Of particular interest are the effects to the child of two way relationships towards and away from the child, as defined by Bronfenbrenner as bi-directional influences, these are particularly influential in the child’s inner layer. For instance: the impact to the child of attentive or non-attentive parents affects how the child reacts to a given situation, which in turn affects how the parent behaves.
