The Lakers won back to back championships in 2000 to 2002 with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. In 2009 to 2010, the Lakers won back to back championships again, but without Shaquille O’Neal himself. What is the cause for the Lakers winning the championship in 2000 and not winning a championship in 2010? First let’s talk about what caused them to win in 2000. The season starts in 1999 and the playoffs starts in 2000, so in 1999 the Lakers were having a great season. Their record were 67 wins and 15 losses, which lead the Lakers to the number one top seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. To keep this long story short, I will name the main causes in the 2000 NBA Playoffs. The coach was Phil Jackson, a former New York Knicks basketball player, which was drafted in 1967. Phil Jackson was a great all-around athlete that won two championships as player with the …show more content…
They defeated the Pacers with 4 wins and 2 losses. The Lakers won the NBA Championship and Shaquille O’Neal was voted NBA Finals MVP. Additionally, the Lakers ended up repeating back to back championships like the Chicago Bulls, and Shaquille O’Neal was in the NBA Finals until 2002. So suddenly, the Lakers haven’t won any championships in 2003 and 2004. What happened to Shaquille O’Neal? Shaquille O’Neal was traded to the Miami Heat during that year and won a total of four rings. In 2004, players were being traded and some were retiring. Kobe Bryant was the only star player left on the team. Phil Jackson was still their coach and a player that was unknown to the Lakers fans, Derek Fisher, had decided to come back to help Kobe Bryant. Then the Lakers reclaimed the NBA Finals in 2009 to 2010. Since after that win, the Lakers haven’t progressed to the NBA Finals anymore. Some Players are free agents, been traded, retired, and Phil Jackson was move to the New York Knicks as a

He was also selected to be an NBA all-star as he averaged 30 to 40 points per game. While when it came to Michael’s second year in the NBA he broke his foot early in the season and was forced to sit out. While having his year off from the game, he decided to go back to school to finish his final year of college. His 3rd year wasn’t all so great either as the Bulls had another losing season, but they still made it to the playoffs. Michael would also score 63 points to set an NBA playoffs record. As the 1989 season approached the Bulls had plenty of players to help Michael on the court. The Bulls would lose in the second round of the playoffs, though to an eastern powerhouse in the Detroit Pistons. As for the next three seasons, the Bulls would lose to the Pistons in the playoffs. The pistons had a great plan to keep Michael from being a terror on the court by something called the “Jordan Rules.” The Jordan Rules invented by the Pistons meant to rough him up or play him tough. Michael was pushed around by the Pistons because he wasn’t very hefty. While in the 1991 and 92 season the Bulls blew by the league not even the Pistons could stop them as the Bulls would go back to back beating the Suns and the Trail Blazers. While in between the two seasons Michael and many other star NBA players took place in the 1992 Olympics the team later became known as the NBA Dream Team. There was no chance of anyone

The Miami Heart Franchise has been around for twenty-six years. In 1988, through an NBA expansion the team began begun with a disappointing start with a 15-67 record for their first season (Fleming, 2014). The progress was slow, however in 1992 made their first playoff appearance finishing fourth place. The Heat made their first trip to the NBA national championships finals in 2006 against the Dallas Mavericks. In this championship, the Heat accomplished a new feat. They rallied from a 0-3 deficit to win the finals.
The third season Michael’s career he recovered completely from his injury. He was the first other than Wilt Chamberlain to score 3,000 points in a single season. He also became the first player to have 100 blocks and 200 steals in a single season. The bulls advanced to playoffs but they sadly got swept by the Celtics in the first round.
Additionally, Bryant joined the all-star team in just his second season in the league, therefore becoming the single youngest player to be part of the all-star team of all time (“Bryant, Kobe” 1) at just 19 years old (Kobe at 30--Oh, how the years go by 2). Surprisingly, these achievements would not be the only ones he would acquire. By 2003, Bryant had already captured 3 NBA titles for himself (“Bryant, Kobe” 1), winning three titles in a row from 2000 to 2002 (Kobe at 30-- 2), and these would surely not be his last.... ... middle of paper ... ...
This placed the team in the third seed of the Western Conference playoffs. Due to their relatively weak record the Nuggets were forced to play the Los Angeles Clippers who, despite their 6th seeding, had a better record following a great season behind their NBA Most Valuable Player Award candidate Elton Brand. Based on their regular season records the LA Clippers received home court advantage. The first two games in the best-of-7 series were won by the Clippers 89-87 in game one and 109-101 for game two in LA. Game 3 was won by the Denver Nuggets in Denver 98-87. The Clippers went on to win the final two games and advance to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs for the first time in franchise history since the Clippers moved to L.A. for the 1984-85 season. On, December 18, 2006, team co-captain, Carmelo Anthony, shooting guard J.R. Smith, and power forward Nene were suspended by the NBA (15, 10, and 1 games respectively) for a fight that occurred in the last two minutes of a game against the New York Knicks two days earlier. In 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe had an insane number of accolades and achievements in that time frame. From the beginning of his career he instantly showed glimpses of the greatness to come by being named to the NBA’s All-Rookie Second Team in 1997, and also winning the Slam Dunk Contest that same year, even though he was not named to the All-Star Team that year. But as Bryant’s mentality has shown, being cut short of the All-Star didn’t stop him at all. The Black Mamba would go onto be named to the All-Star Team a total of 18 times in his tenure with the Lakers
