Bride and prejudice is a movie directed by Gurinder Chadha, this movie is based off Pride and Prejudice, that movie is directed by Joe Wright, which in turn is based off a book written by Jane Austen. Both of these movies share the same messages of breaking the social norms, love and marriage. The directors created movies that are seeping with feelings, although these are very different feelings. Gurindar Chadha gives off a light and bubbly feeling for the majority of the movie, whilst Joe Wright’s movie is sombre, tame and formal. While both of the films break off from these main themes.

Love, love is the core of these movies. It was masterfully manipulated by the directors to create a compelling story. It is conveyed to the viewer in many different ways, through to the costuming, the ways the actors react, lighting and camera angles. Gurinder shows this through lighting and cliché ‘dream’ sequences with the swelling music, the warm orange glow and the camera angles that give the viewer the sense of peeking through a window at the perfect life. On the other hand in Joe’s work, it is more subtle, presented through dialog, the removal of the dull colour tone and the body language of the actors. …show more content…

They also make the background bland and unnoticeable compared to the characters and divert the audiences’ attention towards the main characters. A very beautiful shot in Pride and Prejudice takes place near the very end of the movie; both characters are in the middle of a field near daybreak. This scene is where they profess their love to each other and decide to get married. The sun is rising in the background during this scene signifying the dawn of a new era in both of the characters’
