If you were able to produce milk for your child and had no complications with feeding, would you be more willing to feed your baby that way? Or would you still pick formula? It’s an important decision the mom has to make not only for herself but for her child as well. Moms still today don’t know the benefits of breastfeeding and are quick to pick up a can of formula because of rumors or just lack of education on the subject. The benefits of breast feeding extend well beyond basic nutrition. There is no greater feeling in the world, then knowing that your body is able to produce food for your child. Unlike formula, where you're not too sure what all is in each can.
If you ask moms today about breast feeding, about 50% are all for it and the other 50% would rather not do it at all. When asked why they would not breast feed, some moms mentioned they are too scared it will hurt; some said they can’t, and others just have no interest because they were never educated.
There are many benefits to breast feeding that some moms didn’t even know could be possible. Many moms have found that they are able to lose the baby weight quicker by breast feeding. Studies have shown that breast feeding can help reduce the chance of ovarian and breast cancer. Also with feeding you are preventing type 2 diabetes and lesson your chances of postpartum depression. Moms are able to get a stronger bond with child especially if you feed skin to skin. Also a single can of Enfamil formula is $15. On average your child will take up to 10 cans a month give or take. In one year you would have spent roughly $1,800. By breast feeding you can save money on things your child actually does need. Not something you want your child to need because you don’t want to br...

...u know your child isn’t just getting “fillers” and that you know what is coming out of you. Breast feeding has been found to promote a healthier lifestyle for the child and the mother and I feel that everyone should consider breast feeding and the importance of it. Most women have the advantage of being able to breastfeed their child, and don’t because they don’t know the benefits or were told something to change their mind about breastfeeding. Try it. You have nothing to lose.

Money in the bank or money to the store. Breastfeeding can save you more than $1500.00 per a year. According to Doctor Sears “ Breast milk doesn 't cost a cent, while the cost of formula quickly adds up. And unless you 're pumping breast milk and giving it to your baby, there is no need for bottles, nipples, and other supplies that can be costly.” (para 4) Therefore, you do not need the extra cost, now you can spend it on buying toys for your little one or better yet you can put it in a college
This chapter talks about the development of children. It starts out talking about how in just 2 year a child goes from being helpless, little, and not really doing anything. To running, jumping, talking, playing, hugging, and kissing. In just 2 years a helpless baby becomes a human. The brain is the thing that controls the whole body from making a childes hands work to making them grow in size. The head of the child develops more quickly than the rest of the body. After 8 weeks of conception the head of the baby makes up half of its length. The brine develops more quickly than that the spinal cord. As the child grows in size they also grow in the ability to pick things up, and to move. The most dramatic weight and high change happens while the kid is in
There are so many more perks to breastfeeding as opposed to formula feeding. Mothers are not educated enough prior to giving birth and they sometimes feel it is just easier to formula feed. A lot of hospitals are quick to just give a newborn a formula bottle if a mother is unsure how she wants to feed or if she is afraid to breastfeed just because she is unsure how. I think more mothers would
Breastfeeding is a nonsexual and nurturing bond between a mother and her child and not the business of anyone else. As a society, we must offer protection for these vulnerable and cherishing mothers and create a welcoming and comfortable climate for them to feel empowered. Let’s put an end to this mother of all battles. Thank
Some people don't particularly like seeing a woman breastfeed. It makes them feel "uncomfortable". Woman are asked to leave the room or to stop breastfeeding by those who feel uncomfortable. Breasts are viewed as sexual items rather than a natural way of providing nutrients and comfort for a child. Some people are against public breastfeeding because they don't want to explain what is going on to their child. Woman are often told that their child is to old to be breastfed. It is no ones business but the mothers how...
Breastfeeding is best for mom too. Increased levels of oxytocin stimulate postpartum uterine contractions, reducing blood loss and encouraging uterine contractions. From 3 months to 12 months postpartum, breastfeeding increases the rate of weight loss in most nursing mothers. Breastfeeding has even been found to lessen the severity of postpartum depression by keeping the hormonal levels more balanced. Breastfeeding also reduces the mother’s risk for breast cancer, cervical cancer, and osteoporosis, (Shinskie and Lauwers, 2002). It is important that the lactation consultant collaborate with the mother shortly after delivery to eliminate frustration and prevent the abandonment of br...
Breastfeeding has numerous benefits for a baby. An infant’s immune system is boosted when he or she drinks breastmilk because it is full of antibodies. Therefore,
Women do not breastfeed long enough. Although healthcare workers try to promote the breast method, many women do not continue with it. Breastfeeding does come with challenges; however, the phrase “breast is best” is the role of the nurse in conjunction with education. A mother a...
There are so many reasons to fear or be concerned about the tomorrows of our world, but if there were a solution to some of the health problems what would the choice be for most? Would it be to continue in the downward pattern of destruction or would it be something better to help all? In most cases many people state that training starts in the home and what, but a good way to start with none other than our children. So why not consider breast milk? Breastfeeding can start as soon as the child is born. With the protection of breast milk the overall focus on disease, illness and sickness would be half the battle. Breast milk provides many benefits and the dietary influence it has on disease is too great to be compared to.
Similarly to the previous article, the authors found a men 's opinion toward breastfeeding hosted a significant association between a mother 's choice to breast, or bottle feed her infant. Like mothers, a strong correlation between social conditions, including ethnicity, country of origin, education, and socioeconomic status, was found to have a sizeable impact on the father 's opinion of feeding method. This study, like many others, confirmed that breastfeeding ideals are often formed long before conception. Increasing the focus of breastfeeding to men and women alike through the use of the media, high school curriculums, and programs such as WIC could help make breastfeeding acceptance more widely spread across multi cultures, and also promote it as a socially acceptable
Breastfeeding provides the ideal nutrition for infants; it has a perfect mix of vitamins, fats and proteins needed to sustain a child until they are ready to start eating solid food. Babies who have exclusively breastfeed for six months or more, have a lower risk of developing ear infections, respiratory illnesses, as well as gastrointestinal problems and have fewer hospitalizations or trips to the doctors in their first year of life, according to the APA and WHO. Mothers, who breastfeed also have numerous health benefits, such as, lowered risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer and osteoporosis. As well as less psychological problems after birth and in the future. “There is much more to breastfeeding than the provision of optimal nutrition and protection from disease through mother 's milk. Breastfeeding provides a unique interaction between mother and child, an automatic, skin-to-skin closeness and nurturing that bottle-feeding mothers have to work to replicate. The child 's suckling at the breast produces a special hormonal milieu for the mother. Prolactin, the milk-making hormone, appears to produce a special calmness in mothers (Altemus 1995). With this amazing statistical information and benefits to the children in our society; why would others choose to interject their opinions on a mother and child and their specific
Breast milk is made for the baby having just the right amount of protein, sugar, water, and fat that is needed for a baby’s growth and development. As breast milk is easier for newborn’s to digest than formal, it prevents intestinal upsets. Furthermore, breast milk includes substances such as immunoglobulin’s...
