Two years ago my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. This was a very stressful time in her life because my sister's wedding was only two weeks away. Breast cancer can be very stressful for the family and the patient. Cancer deals with many different elements, and I am going to be telling you about three of them: first being the types of Breast Cancer, second being the treatment path, and lastly there recovery and reconstruction. There are many different types of breast cancer; I am going to tell you about three of them. The first type i'm going to tell you about is, Inflammatory Breast Cancer. It also grows and spreads quickly. Average age for diagnosis for this type of Breast Cancer is early and late fifties. Another type of breast cancer is, Mucinous Carcinoma of the Breast. This type of cancer is a rare form of another type of cancer that starts in the mil duct and spreads to healthy tissue. The tumor in this type of cancer is made up of abnormal cells that are in pools of mucin. This means that the tumor is floating around in mucus. Only two to three percent of breast cancer patients are diagnosed with pure Mucinous Carcinoma. About five percent of invasive cancer types have the Mucinous part within them. This type can affect women at any age, but it typically is within women that have already gone through menopause. The average age is about sixties early seventies. The last type of cancer is Invasive Lobular Carcinoma; this is the second most common type of breast cancer someone can be diagnosed with. There are three stages, chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Some people go through theses stages differently and some at different times. I'm going to tell you about chemo then radiation and surgery. This is not the necessary order that it will go in but it is a typical one. For chemo it all depends on what type of cancer, how aggressive, and where you are being treated. When going for chemo they will place a port so it will make it easier. A common type of chemotherapy is given every two weeks for four cycles, or weekly for about two months. Over all it can take about four to six months to end chemotherapy treatments. Chemo can take anywhere from three to four hours and your oncologist and lab appoints take fifteen minutes to an hour. There are many things that could affect your body but these are to just name a few, you can lose your hair, and even get chemo induced neuropathy in your feet. Radiation can vary depending on what type of radiation you will receive. You will receive a number of Radiation treatments, fewer than thirty three treatments
