In coming to grips, the law needs to do more to tighten the borders in Texas to prevent illegal immigration from crossing over trafficking drugs.
The White House stated that President Bush would have a debate on illegal immigration. White House officials said Mr. Bush had always understood the need to protect the border as a former governor of a border state, Texas Ruttenberg, J. (2006, May 13). Mr. Bush was considering a bill to increase law enforcements and military personnel patrolling the border to increase the use of high surveillance tools and to increase the enforcement against illegal immigrants and drugs (www.foxnews.com.).
98% of illegal immigrants arrested between October 1, 2000 and September 30, 2005 were never prosecuted for illegally entering Texas according to an Associate Press analysis of federal data (2007). Meanwhile, those 5.2 million immigrants were escorted back across the border and turned lose. Still many of the immigrants tried to slip into the U.S again. The number of immigrants prosecuted annually triple during that five year period (www.foxnews.com.).
The federal prosecutors along the nation’s southern border have come under pressure from politicians and from top officials in the Justice Department to pursue more cases against illegal immigrants. Not many politicians are suggesting the government prosecute everyone caught slipping across the border. Despite about 1 million immigrants stopped each year; however that will overwhelm the nation priso...

A leading American historian on race, policing, immigration, and incarceration in the United States, Kelly Lytle Hernandez’s Migra! A History of the U.S. Border Patrol tells the story of how Mexican immigrant workers emerged as the primary target of the United States Border Patrol and how, in the process, the United States Border Patrol shaped the history of race in the United States. Migra! also explores social history, including the dynamics of Anglo-American nativism, the power of national security, and labor-control interests of capitalistic development in the American southwest. In short, Migra! explains
The primary function of the Border Patrol Agency is "Line Watch"(web), which involves the apprehension of terrorists, smugglers and illegal people at the border. The book ‘Border Patrol nation’ by Tod Miller is a classic example of the Border patrol agency day to day activities and work culture. Tod Miller has researched and written about US-Mexican border issues for last 15 years. The book contains eleven chapters, which are well structured and inter related in respect to the arguments, evident and stories. This makes the book well

Home Land security statistics on immigration verifies that there are approximately 11 million illegal immigrants who reside in the United States. In Arizona, there is an estimate of 460,000 unauthorized immigrants in 2009. (United States). Arizona borders with Mexico and it is implied that the majority of the illegal immigrants are of a Mexican background. These figures are understandable disturbing to Arizona’s local government primarily and the nation as a whole. The large influx of illegal immigrants is causing severe economic and social problems. Prisons, schools, and hospitals are the institutions that receive the direct blows of the state’s immigration problems. For these reasons, law makers in the State of Arizona justify their new “suspicious” immigration law (Matthews Mark K).

United States Border Patrol has been around since 1904 enforcing and regulating laws under the immigration and Nationality Act. U.S. border patrol is now under the Department of Homeland Security, which was created as a response to the attacks of September 11, 2001. Over the years, their jurisdiction and missions have changed to better protect the safety of nation. Although border patrol is a need for any nation, their extensive acceptations to constitutional laws can often be taken advantage of. The mission of the U.S. border patrol should be to prevent illegal aliens, which are a threat to American society, from reaching their purpose. Frequently, their purpose can be confused or executed in a bias manner.
According to the Migration Policy Institute, there are approximately 1,470,000 adult illegal immigrants living in Texas (Source 2) as well as approximately 588,000 children of illegal immigrants making a grand total of 2.06 million illegal immigrants living in Texas. (Source 1) With such a vast amount

ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) deportations has raised frequently; Immigration arrests rose 32.6 percent in the first weeks of the Trump administration, with newly empowered federal agents intensifying their pursuit not just undocumented immigrants with criminal records, but also thousands of illegal immigrants who have been otherwise law-abiding (Sachetti). The numbers have tripled from last year, more families have been taken apart and not anyone has known what to do about the situation. In the 100 days since President Donald J. Trump signed Executive orders (EOs) regarding Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 41.000 who are either known or suspected of being in the country illegally. This reflects of
...ion and drug smuggling has been on the rise the past few decades and our current approach is not confronting the escalating issue at hand. America’s safekeeping at our borders is not robust enough to deter these illegal immigrants and drug smugglers. Our border wall and security checkpoints must be strengthened immediately.
The study also took a close look at how the courts deal with the issue, the administrative interpretation of the law, and the application of the reform to be very critical and increasingly impossible. The author discovered that immigration reform has chronic problems, citizens’ disinterest to participate in the political process, government inefficacy, and centralized decision making away from the very communities imparted. The lack of enforcement is mounting pressure on states’ budgets (appropriation and allocations) of resources as the number of beneficiaries for social services increased. On the other hand, Dorsey and Diaz-Barriza (2007) studied President Barack Obama stands on immigration when he was then senator and compared them to conservative and liberal position. In the research, the author lamented that then senator Obama called for a comprehensive immigration reform that would deal with the issues of border security, employers sanction for hiring illegal individuals and a path to earned citizenship. Both sides agreed in part, but disagreed with the issue of path to citizenship which created gray lack. Today, the debate continues between the both political parties and the states leading the president executive action on immigration in recent
Illegal immigration is a pending issue in modern day America, and most Americans aren’t the biggest fans of illegal immigration. The Mexican-American border has become a huge controversy in today’s political affairs, it is still a very heated argument at this very moment in time. Although there are some benefits, the repercussions surpass any benefit; illegal immigrants in today’s world are taking jobs away, creating asthma and allergy problems for themselves here in America, but worst of all, all of the political leaders in today’s society are using the Mexican-American border as a tool to sway votes in their favor and giving the immigrants “free passes” to come through to the country without even having to pay taxes.

With today’s growing world, more and more people want to enter the United States because it’s the “Land of the Free” and opportunities are endless. Unfortunately, there have been an influx of people being smuggled or trafficked into the States illegally. This is a major issue occurring along our borders and major seaports. The government is working on effective ways to help stop this stampede of illegal immigrants from entering the country. This is a local, national and international problem. Penalties for these crimes can be severe. When caught, the smuggler or trafficker is locked up. The justice system makes the decision to deport or
