It was a Friday morning when Max's teacher Mrs. Janette told the 6th-grade class that they were getting their report cards sent home at the end of the day. Max already knew that he had bad grades, but his parents didn’t. All Max could think of was his report card and how his parents were going to act when they see his report card. Max kept on getting distracted. His teacher kept on yelling his name and kept on saying,”Max please pay attention.”Max gets off of school at 3:00 and it was 1:30 and Max kept on getting more distracted and more worried.
It was 3:20 when max saw the clock and his face was getting as red as a tomato. Then...THE...TIME...CAME! Max was

nervous. Mrs. Janette told the class to have a great weekend and to line up. Max lined up with his friends Alex and Michael. Max and his friends were also nervous, but one of Max's friends was a straight A student so he had nothing to worry about. Mrs. Janette told the class that she is going to pass out the report cards. She told the class to bring the report cards by Monday. Max was not ready to see his report card.
Mrs. Janette was calling the students in alphabetical order. Max was going to be in the middle because his name started with an M. Finally, she got to the middle of the alphabet and she was close to M. Then she called Max and Max went up to get his report card. Mrs. Janette told them to not open them in school. She told them to open them once they got home. Max rode the bus home so he decided to open his report card when he got on the bus just like other kids do.Everybody was lined up when they got their report cards. All of the students were talking about their report card. Max thought he was the most nervous kid in the classroom(he probably was). Once they were going outside to the buses Max remembered that there was an 8th grader who knew how to hack into stuff and how to change. So Max went outside, rode the bus back home but instead of going home, he went to the 8th grader's house because they are best friends and they know where they both live. Max went to his house and told him about his report card. His parents already knew that the reports were going home on Friday so they were excited to see his report card. Max wanted Blake the 8th grader to change hid C’s, D’s, and F’s to straight A’s. “I will try to do that for you, but you will have to owe me back,” said Blake. Max agreed with that and decided to give him $10. Max gave Blake his report card. Max was going to go back home because his parents would’ve been worried if he …show more content…
didn’t go home. Max told Blake that he was going to tell his parents that they were going to mail the report cards home so his parents wouldn’t be asking where his report card is. Max went back home and said hi to his parents. His parent's names are Bob and Alexis. His parents thought the lie was real and max was glad. Max told Blake to call him when he was making Max’s fake report card. While Max was waiting he was hanging out with his brother Tyler. Tyler is 19 years old. He got kicked out of school when he was in his last year of high school because of how bad he was. Max’s parents don’t want him to get kicked out of school. Max is also bad, but not that bad. Max and Tyler were just talking about Max’s grades. Tyler was telling him that he used not have any A’s or B’s. He only had C’s, D’s and F’s. Finally, Blake called Max and told him to come over. Max went over and Blake told him that his new report card was ready. Max went back home and put his old report card in his backpack. Bob and Alexis were in the kitchen. Max thought it was a good time to show his “real report card”. Max showed them his fake report card. His parents thought that was the real report card. When Bob and Alexis saw the report card they were shocked.
They stared at that report card for 5 minutes. His parents told him “good job” and “we knew you could do it. Max went back to Tyler’s room and told him that they felt for it. It was already dark, so Max went back to his room and went to sleep. Max’s backpack accidently fell while he was asleep. Alexis and Bob went to Max’s room to check if he was still awake but he wasn’t. Alexis and Bob spotted the REAL report card on the floor and they saw the fake one in his bed. Alexis grabbed the fake one and Bob grabbed the real one. They went to their room to check the report cards. Alexis made sure that the fake one was from this year and not last year and it was. The real one had the same teacher and the fake one also had the same teacher. The next day Alexis called Mrs. Janette to make a parent teacher conference. Mrs. Janette said that she available today at 12:00 so Alexis scheduled it for 12:00. Max woke up and Alexis told him that she had a parent-teacher conference with Mrs. Janette. Max got so scared he told his mom “Why do you need to go if my report card had straight A’s?!” but Alexis didn’t tell him anything. Once it was 12:00 Alexis and Max went to Max’s school. Alexis asked Mrs. Janette if the fake report card was the real one. Mrs. Janette said it was not the real report card. Max just sat there quietly with his face really red. When Max and Alexis were driving back home their car was really quiet.Once they got
home Max was about to go to his room until his mom Alexis told him if he had anything to explain to her. Max told his mom “I am so sorry mom it’s just that I had C’s, D’s and F’s and I was too scared to tell you and dad.” Alexis grounded Max for a whole month. Max had to tell Bob his dad that he was also sorry. Max has learned his lesson, but he is still grounded.
There is a slight glimmer of hope when the school year ends and the girls all receive their report cards. They stand eagerly in the hallway, none of them can break their gaze at the slips of paper in their teacher’s hands. Pashtana finishes 15th in her class and in this moment looks forward to a new year in the 8th grade. Unfortunately, Pashtana and her family were living off of $7 a week, a dollar to spend a day. She soon got married to her cousin and has not been back to school since their last day.

In 1776, David McCullough gives a vivid portrayal of the Continental Army from October 1775 through January 1777, with sharp focus on the leadership of America’s greatest hero, George Washington. McCullough’s thesis is that had not the right man (George Washington) been leading the Continental Army in 1776, the American Revolution would have resulted in a vastly different outcome. He supports his argument with a critical analysis of Washington’s leadership during the period from the Siege of Boston, through the disastrous defense of New York City, the desperate yet, well ordered retreat through New Jersey against overwhelming odds, and concludes with the inspiring victories of Trenton and Princeton. By keeping his army intact and persevering through 1776, Washington demonstrated to the British Army that the Continental Army was not simply a gang of rabble, but a viable fighting force. Additionally, Mr. McCullough supports his premise that the key to the survival of the American Revolution was not in the defense of Boston, New York City, or any other vital terrain, but rather the survival of the Continental Army itself. A masterful piece of history, 1776 is not a dry retelling of the Revolutionary War, but a compelling character study of George Washington, as well as his key lieutenants, and his British adversaries, the most powerful Army in the 18th Century world. When I read this book, I went from a casual understanding of the hero George Washington to a more specific understanding of why Washington was quite literally the exact right man at the exact right place and time to enable the birth of the United States.

“I always knew I wanted to be a teacher,” she stated. Her passion for helping children with special needs was developed at a later age. The reason why Chris decided to be a special education teacher was because of two twin boys in her grade who had special needs. Chris was only in kindergarten at the time, but she recalls that one of these boys did not get to go to school. The other boy, Jimmy, could come to school, but he would have to leave halfway through the school day.
