ETHICS IN FILM INDUSTRY
Ethics is the branch of philosophy that involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct.
In practice, ethics seeks to resolve questions of human morality, by defining concepts such as good and evil, right and wrong, virtue and vice, justice and crime. As a field of intellectual enquiry, moral philosophy also is related to the fields of moral psychology, descriptive ethics, and value theory. Women are paid less than male and bollywood is more male-dominated place. We see that when a male cross an age of 60 he is still entertained but when a female cross the age of 30 he is almost out of the industry. The female-leads . The journey for women in this field is very tough. They have to struggle a lot to survive. They are being analyzed at every step and if they do not perform well their replacement is always ready. In an interview with Anupama Chopra, when asked about acting in movies like Rascals or Double Dhamaal, Kangana Ranaut said, “We have to earn our bread and butter out of this business, sometimes you just have those limited options and as somebody who’s self-dependent, I don’t have any other job, so you have to keep working.” These are just some of the very deep-seated prejudices that force the actresses to succumb to the discriminatory treatment of Bollywood. we fantasize this place but he actual truth, or THE DARK SIDE is very disturbing. In side this place people are struggling to survive, indeed they are getting paid for it and their earning are very high but every coin has 2 faces. Women are less comparison to males and the given data will show some of the data related to the film industry.
The raw data according to a survey is as follows
Female directors- 9.1% (above the level of global average which is 7%)
Female writers- 12% (below the level of global average which is 19.7%)
Female producers – 15.2% (below the level of global average which is 22.7%)
The above fact again highlights one of the many factors of what is wrong with the Indian film industry. Still our thinking is that only, as to who watches movies whose director, producer or a writer is a woman. The thinking straight goes as to “ arre ek ladki ne film banai hai, kon jayega”. People still say these words which shows how backward we are. Today only male-dominated movies cross the 100cr.club. Commercialization has killed the essence of Indian cinema. The year 201-2015 had been a remarkable year for the women of Indian cinema as this year was women dominated year. Some of the movies were:
