Around the globe humans are found almost anywhere you can imagine. Scattered across land and sea many have survived through evolving in their own environment by learning the surroundings and the threats many face as they hunt for food. We have survived by transforming our bodies to give us an advantage in surviving in not just one environment but many. Thanks to plasticity our bodies are able to mold into a form that can withstand many hardships that other animals are not able to because of the environment. Our parents are the main reason we continue to evolve as we inherit genes from both of them and mix them into a new form which becomes who we are and also who we can become.

When human populations and environments both mix, the average height in any given group is shown to increase. A society which was averaging 5 ft and 6 inches could in fact see an increase in the average height by 2 or more inches over time. This is all thanks to nutrients you get as a child and the nutrients your mother got when she was growing up. When girls or mothers become malnourished, their reproductive system suffers meaning they cannot grow a bigger body since cells need nourishment to multiply and grow. Usually women can pass on their short stature to their offspring, but when women are pregnant and malnourished it makes the fetus grow slower and they are more likely to give birth to a smaller baby compared to healthy, well-nourished mothers. If the fetus was unhealthy it can cause children as they age to get stuck at being short.
