Before I learn about Bobbie Haro’s Cycle, I didn’t know socialization is a big part of my life. For example, when my classmates think I’m Japanese because of the way I look. After learning about the cycle I realize my identity is by the people I grew up with. Second example is my parents gave me my Chinese identity and in temple I am taught to be a good individual. Socialization is the development or way of learning one’s culture. It is originally modeled by family in the early concepts of values, roles, and overall sense of self. In an analogy, socialization creates the lens in which one sees and interprets the world. The lens that comes from family is like the actual eyeball. It is a part of the person, and cannot so easily be changed or removed to create a new perspective. From the time a White person was born they were shown that an African American was less than. They were seen working the dirty jobs, called derogatory names, beaten, and overall disrespected. After the fall of the Qin Dynasty, the Han dynasty drew from the teachings of Confucius to create the Han Synthesis. This formed the traditional belief in China that history repeats itself and directly contributed to the Dynastic Cycle. This is demonstrated by the use of Confucius teachings, the Dynastic Cycle and the Han Synthesis when addressing the Good Life, Good Society and Good State respectively. Each of these philosophies highlight that Chinese history repeats itself by casting light on this theme of repetition through the three different areas. This makes the state accountable for its actions to its people. Confucius was a Chinese philosopher whose ideas greatly affect China in every aspect of its culture. In The Analects, he preached how to be a good man through living a life of filial piety, being a gentleman, and the way a ruler should govern his empire. The Han Synthesis used many of Confucius’ ideas to be the guiding force in China’s political ideology which contributed to the Dynastic Cycle of an empire, which stated that empires go through periods of success and decline. All of these highlight the cyclical nature of history in China, and its importance in the development of the state.
Throughout world civilization, numerous empires have dominated geographical areas with powerful military forces, effective rulers and strong economy’s. However, majority of the worlds empires have declined after centuries of dominance. The most significant similarity in all of the worlds empires is the greed of expansion. History has proven this significance to result in the falling of great empires. When empires fall, new ones are established and this is the process known as the dynastic cycle. The dynastic cycle is based off the different dynasties that once ruled China, however, the process can be used with the rise, fall and replacement of other empires. The dynastic cycle has occurred in the once dominant Ottoman empire, that dominated in Europe and the Middle East for nearly 500 years and also the Russian empire (1721-1917).

My socialization started from before my birth. My parents knew that I would be born female and, therefore, bought me pink clothes and other “girl” items. I was born into a lower-middle-class family with both of my parents working a factory job. I spent a lot of my infancy with my grandmother who would watch me when my parents worked.
